They are so diverse that today it is impossible to say exactly how many types of bows actually exist, in addition, the world of needlework is constantly striding forward and more and more new options for their manufacture are being created. To create them, completely different materials are used - these can be all kinds of ribbons such as satin, rep, paper, lace, organza, brocade, as well as fabrics, cotton, felt, leather, and so on, this list is endless. Because each needlewoman uses what she has, and besides, we all love to experiment and try some new fabrics and ideas or combine different textures and techniques.

I want to devote this article to just the most different options for making bows and I will use different materials for this. Here the most important thing is to understand the manufacturing principle, but the materials can be changed at your discretion.

Let's start with the simplest, the bow is made from a narrow and long ribbon. On a piece of tape, you need to leave a loop in the middle and we will form a bow from two sides.

We mark the middle on the segment and wind the end of the tape behind it, forming a loop. We do this with both ends.

We sew with a thread and wrap it around the middle.

For such a bow, you will need a cardboard template or you can replace it with something similar. We need two parallel lines at a small distance from each other. I have a template with a width of 13 cm, height does not play a big role here. My tape is 2.5 cm wide, you can take it wider or narrower, it's up to you. My length is somewhere around 2.5 meters, I didn’t measure this is a rough estimate, if you wish, you can also take more or less. For more splendor, of course, you need to take more length.

The tape is wrapped around the template, and sewn or tied in the middle. In order for the ribbon to fluff even better, small notches are made in the middle (where it is tied) and then the bow will be more magnificent, but I did not do them.

We pass the tape into the middle of the template. The length of the ribbon is 52 cm for a star diameter of 6.5 cm. For a diameter of 5.5 cm, the length of the ribbon is approximately 43 cm. The assembly principle is the same for both diameters. I show on the example of 6.5 cm.

The tip of the lace ribbon is on one side, and we will work on the other, turn it over and begin to go around each corner in turn with a ribbon. When finished, sew the middle with a thread to secure.

We do the same with the rep tape.

The only thing after it has been cut off is that the ends of the rep ribbon must be singeed with a lighter so that they do not unravel, a convenient way to singe the ends is to fold the star blank in half.

From lace we also make a star blank with a diameter of 5.5 cm.
We sew a suitable middle to it.
We sewed the middle to 5.5, to the bottom we put a rep star with a diameter of 6.5.

Further, under the bottom, we still enclose and sew lace with a diameter of 6.5. We should get lace with a diameter of 5.5 cm at the very top, a rep ribbon with a diameter of 6.5 cm in the middle and a lace with a diameter of 6.5 cm at the very bottom.
Then we sew the elastic and glue it with a strip of tape.

So all our rubber bands are ready.

Only these bows I placed with loops on top and made them more magnificent from 4 layers.

We fold the strips in half and round the ends, cutting off excess corners.

You can play with sizes and fabrics.
I have a very soft to the touch fabric, nice colors. Length 16 cm and width 4.5 cm.

We fold the fabric in half and pin it with pins.

My fabric frays a lot, so I process it on a typewriter, but in principle it is possible to sew by hand. I stitch in a circular pattern and leave a small hole.

Turn the fabric inside out through this hole.

Now I sew the remaining hole manually with a blind stitch.

I mark the middle and stitch along it, picking up a bow.

I close the middle with a piece of the same fabric.

For bows, we need a ribbon 5 cm wide and 6 cm long - 4 such pieces per bow.

We singe the ends of the tape and fold the segment in half, bend the ends of one half inward.

We collect the resulting petal on a thread.

We also collect the other 2 segments. And now we sew them together.

For the middle we take a piece of rep tape, make a knot and glue it to the bow.

Take a decorative plastic tape 5 cm wide. You can use both plain and patterned. From a thinner ribbon, you will also get a very pretty bow.

You will also need a book, notebook, or piece of thick cardboard. They will serve as the basis. The width of the future bow depends on the size of the base.
Take the end of the tape and fasten it to one end of the book.

Make a loop around the base and return to the starting position. In total, you need to make 7-9 turns of tape.

Then cut the tape and remove the workpiece from the base.

In the center of the resulting turns, make cuts, as shown in the photo.

Tie this place with a short piece of tape. So all the turns will be securely fixed.

Now carefully separate one turn of the tape, bring it to the side and twist around the axis once.

Do the same with the rest.

As a result of such manipulations, a chic bow is obtained.

It remains only to dissolve the ends of the tape with which you tied the center of the workpiece into thin stripes.

To make the resulting stripes wavy, twist them with scissor blades.

Again, use red plastic tape 5 cm wide.

Cut it into pieces of different lengths. In total you will need:

• 8 pieces of 15 cm;
• 4 pieces of 10 cm;
• 1 should be 5 cm.

Using a heat gun, glue each blank as shown in the photo. And fix the shortest strip in the shape of a cylinder.

Terry bow(in foreign sources referred to as the ambiguous playful Pom-pom) will look more spectacular and more elegant if you take a ribbon of hard material that can hold its shape.

We turn it into several rings, the diameter of which is equal to the diameter of the future bow. We smooth the loops and make diagonal cuts as shown in the figure. We fold the loops again so that the cut out triangles are in the center of the folded strips of fabric lying in front of us.

Then you should tightly pull the slots with tape or wire and alternately straighten all the loops on each side of the bow, starting from the inside: one to the right, the other to the left, etc. Let's fluff up the bow - and mentally admire the beauty that, playfully, we just created.

Tiered bow. To beautifully tie such a bow, you should take three ribbon cuts of different widths and colors. Cut them so that the widest piece is the longest, and the narrowest is the shortest. Form the ends of the bow. Now tie the folded pieces together with another piece of ribbon, leaving long ends to secure the tiered bow to the gift bag.

Two color bow. After such manipulations, dealing with a two-color bow will be as easy as shelling pears. We take narrow and wide ribbons of different colors. First, we form a loop from a wide satin ribbon, fastening its ends with glue, and then we do the same with a narrow ribbon superimposed on it. We iron the resulting “sandwich” tightly with our hands and fix it from the inside in the center with glue or a paper clip. The bow in its final form is formed using a third ribbon long enough to tie it to a gift bag or box.

Bow "Dior". Some say that the Dior bow is a complicated version of the "strict" bow. We glue the “rings” from pieces of tape of different lengths, which we then connect with each other using glue or a stapler. A half-finished bow is placed on the base - a ribbon with cut ends. And with the third - small - piece of tape, you should mask the paper clip by gluing its ends from the inside of the bow.

Bow flower. The first step in creating this fantastic flower will be a simple ring, which you will make from ribbon, holding it with your thumb and forefinger. This movement should be repeated until there are more than ten such rings in the hand - depending on the desired size of the bow. We will tie the rings in the middle with a long narrow ribbon, straighten the loops one by one - and fix it on the gift.

Chrysanthemum bow. Tying a beautiful chrysanthemum bow is much easier than it seems at first glance. This will require strong tape, wire, scissors and a little more patience than in previous versions. The beginning of the production of "Chrysanthemum" resembles the work on a terry bow. But after fastening at the place of the incision of the ribbons with wire, it is time to give them the appearance of curly chrysanthemum petals. To do this, even cuts are made on the loops folded together. After that, we begin to straighten the “petals”, turning the loops to the right, then to the left, starting from the inside, first from one, and then from the other side of the bow.
