All shows and presentations are held at the official site of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia at the Central Exhibition Hall "Manege" (Moscow, Manezhnaya Square, 1), unless otherwise specified.
Fashion Week (FW) or Fashion Week 2017 is an important event in the fashion industry. During this period, eminent designers, ateliers and fashion houses will demonstrate their collections to the audience, giving an opportunity to evaluate the fashion trends of the new season.
The most famous Fashion Weeks are held in the "capitals of high style": in New York, Milan, and London; but also in many other countries and cities. In the four "fashion capitals" (the so-called "Big Four"), Fashion Week is one of the biggest events.
In the past, such screenings were purely commercial. It is currently a show and media event. Celebrities like to appear at such shows, as for ordinary people, they need to purchase a special pass to watch the show or take part in the show, which, among other things, presents handbags, jewelry, shoes, hats and cosmetics.
Since the beginning of 2016, couturiers have been demonstrating new collections to the public as part of the fashion weeks for spring, autumn and winter 2016-2017.
Schedule of fashion weeks for the beginning of 2016
- At the beginning of the year, fashion designers pleased the strong half of humanity with men's fashion weeks:
- In February, "fashion sessions" took place in New York, London and Milan:
February 19 - 23 - fashion trends show 2017 in the collections autumn / winter 2016/2017 at London Fashion Week;
- March ended the FW of the first half of the year with a show in the French capital:
Shows in the Italian capital were bright and memorable, as always. Such bright brands as Emilio Pucci, Gucci, Moschino, Fendi, Max Mara, did not leave indifferent anyone of those who follow the latest in the fashion industry. Milan's FW was marked by an exceptional set of trends: the Dolce & Gabbana duo showed off fairy princess looks, Prada offered the self-confident traveler, and Bottega Veneta dresses were worthy of the most refined artistic taste.
London impressed with numerous shows, among others, such eminent fashion houses as Burberry, Christopher Kane, Alexander McQueen, Mulbery, Roksanda.
New York is remembered for the outrageous appearance at the Kim Kardashian show in furs, and the famous models on the catwalk.
Paris brought together the most titled fashion houses for its FW: shows began with Versace collections, Chanel, Dior, Ralph & Russo, Schiapparelli also presented their models. The event, as expected, attracted many well-known names in the fashion industry.
Expected dates for the new fashion weeks in 2016-2017:
Autumn will open fashion weeks for the Spring/Summer 2017 season:
- September 8 - 15 - New York will demonstrate its own vision of the coming spring / summer;
- September 18 - 20 - stylish demonstrations in London;
- September 21 - 27 - fashionable angle moves to Milan;
- September 27 - October 5 - the end of the autumn FW in Paris.
From February 2017, new Fashion Weeks will begin:
- February 9 - 17 - New York;
- February 17 - 21 - London;
- February 22 - 28 - Milan;
- March 1 - 8 - Paris.
The second half of the show for the spring/summer 2018 season will begin in September:
- September 7 - 15 - New York;
- September 15 - 19 - London;
- September 20 - 27 - Milan;
- September 28 - October 5 - Paris.
The first shows start in New York, then London and Milan, and the end of the fashion show takes place in Paris.
Usually shows are held a few months before the start of the season to give the press and viewers time to review and discuss models. Fashion Week attracts the attention of potential buyers, editors of leading fashion magazines, media, stars and figures in the entertainment industry, and just ordinary people, for whom these shows are a kind of brilliant show of the glossy world of the fashion industry.
