Relief patterns with knitting needles are an alternation in knitting of front and back loops, while the fabric turns out to be three-dimensional due to the combination of convex and concave sections, and also quite dense (without gaps). Therefore, such patterns are especially expressive. There are a great many relief patterns, they differ in small or large rapport. These patterns are ideal for plain cotton, cotton-viscose, silk and linen blends. If the yarn is thick, then the pattern looks especially embossed, and if it is thin, then an exquisite, noble structure will be obtained. Embossed patterns are quite easy to knit, so they are recommended for beginner craftswomen, because. help them gain skills and experience. Confident knitters also do not ignore relief patterns, because they are convenient to combine with openwork and give it a special elegance. So that the charm of relief patterns does not disappear, they should not be ironed and steamed, it is enough to moisten and let them dry in a straightened form.
We bring to your attention large collection simple relief patterns from front and back loops for knitting with visual samples, diagrams, descriptions and symbols. Choose and create with pleasure!
Abbreviations:

Hello, friends!

Today, my dears, we knit braids. Every knitter sooner or later comes to the conclusion that you need to master these knitting techniques. After all, how beautiful and rich they look knitwear with various braids and harnesses!

For beginner knitters, knitting braids at first causes some difficulties. Therefore, let's take it step by step, with a description of how to knit some of their types. And then, if you master the technique and basic principles of knitting, then in the future you can even perform very complex, intricate patterns with braids, plaits and arans.

So, let's begin. Knitting all, without exception, patterns with braids, aran knitting, based on the technique of moving loops. In order to reshoot the loops intended for moving, you need to acquire the so-called auxiliary knitting needles, which come in different thicknesses and look like this:

Or like this:

Ideally, the auxiliary knitting needle is taken a little thinner than the main working knitting needles.

When knitting with an auxiliary needle, the loops intended for shifting are shifted onto this knitting needle, and left either in front or behind the work. Then, having knitted the next loops in a row, they knit the loops already from the auxiliary knitting needle (see photo). Moreover, you can knit loops either directly from this knitting needle, or return loops from it to the main left knitting needle, and then knit - as it is more convenient for anyone.

But even if for some reason you don’t have such knitting devices, it doesn’t matter. For this purpose, you can use the usual safety pin, although this is not so convenient (I will reveal a secret - and I do it myself often).

Let's take a look at what loop movement is on the example of the simplest braid. We will perform it on 8 loops. For the sample, we will dial 14 loops (12 loops for the braid and its “frame” + 2 edge loops).

Pattern Description:

1st row: 2 purl, 8 facial, 2 purl;

2nd to 4th row we knit, what does knitting look like- we knit facial loops over the front ones, purl loops over the wrong ones (photo 1).

photo 1 - knitted the first 4 rows

5th row: 2 purl, 4 loops reshoot, without knitting them, on an auxiliary knitting needle and leave in front of the work; Knit the next 4 loops (at the beginning of their knitting, try not to have a big broach between the loops). Then we transfer 4 loops from the auxiliary knitting needle to the left knitting needle and also knit them with facial ones. It turned out that our loops, as it were, crossed with a slope in left side(see photos 2 and 3).

photo 2 - remove 4 loops on an auxiliary knitting needle and leave ahead of work

photo 3 - remove the removed loops on the left knitting needle and knit with the front ones

6th to 12th row - we knit according to the pattern.

And if you knit such braids in a row in a row, then you get this elegant pattern:

Such simple braids can be performed on 4 and 6 and on 10 and even on 12 loops, the main thing is that the number is even. It all depends on how thick you are using yarn and what “sweep” of the braid you want to get.

But it must be remembered that the more loops for the braid, the more it shrinks when the loops are shifted, and therefore the yarn consumption will increase. In addition, you can adjust how many rows to shift the loops. The more often (through a smaller number of rows) you move the loops, the “tighter” the braid will be twisted, the less often - the braid will be freer and will not tighten the canvas so much. It all depends on your taste and preferences.

Can be knitted a simple braid, leaving the loops on the auxiliary needle not in front, but behind the work. Then your braids will no longer intertwine to the left, but to the right. Here's what it looks like:

In more complex braids, combinations with shifted loops are used, both to the left and to the right, and various combinations of the number of loops intended to be moved can also be taken into account. And it is because of the ability to create such different combinations that we can create so many the most beautiful patterns.

Now let's explore more complex braid. Here already, as I said above, we move the loops both to the left and to the right.

Pattern Description:

Braid on 16 loops. We collect 22 loops for the sample (16 for the braid, 4 for the “frame”, +2 hem loops).

1st row: 2 out, 16 persons., 2 out.;

From 2nd to 6th row: knit according to the pattern;

7th row: 2 out., 4 loops to remove on the auxiliary knitting needle and leave behind the work, knit the next 4 loops, then knit the front 4 loops from the auxiliary knitting needle; Remove 4 loops on the auxiliary knitting needle and leave in front of the work, knit 4, knit 4 loops from the auxiliary knitting needle, knit 2;

From the 8th to the 14th row: knit according to the pattern;

15th row: repeat the pattern, starting from the 7th row.

And here is a pattern resembling braided pigtails. How to knit it, you can find on this page.

By combining loop offsets in a different way, you can get such a pattern (see diagram and description ):

In the examples given, the braids are made along the front surface. But there are exceptions when both elastic bands are intertwined, and more small pigtails. For example:

A slightly different principle in Aran knitting: there are already paths from the front surface moving in various intricacies along the wrong side. And if in braids we move the loops, dividing their number equally (for example, a braid of 6 loops: we move 3 each), then here we can, for example, move 2 or 3 loops of the front surface along the top, and 1 loop of the wrong side along the bottom smooth. But the principle is the same - reshoot, move:

104/110 (116/122 – 128/134) 140/144

You will need

Yarn (70% alpaca, 30% polyamide; 225 m / 50 g) - 150 (150 - 200) 250 g section dyeing white / light gray / gray; knitting needles No. 4.5 and 5; circular needles No. 4.5 40 cm long.

Patterns and schemes

Rubber

Alternately 2 facial, 2 purl.

Front surface

Facial rows - facial loops, purl rows - purl loops. In circular rows, knit all loops.

Wrong side

Facial rows - purl loops, purl rows - facial loops. In circular rows, purl all loops.

Pattern "Scythe" on 14 loops

Knit according to the given pattern. In height, constantly repeat the 1-12th p.

Knitting density

15 p. x 27 p. = 10 x 10 cm, knitted with front or wrong side knitting needles No. 5;
14 p. x 27 p. = 7.5 cm x 10 cm, connected with a braid pattern.

Completing of the work

Back

On knitting needles No. 4.5, dial 58 (60 - 66) 70 loops and tie for the strap 3 cm = 9 p. rubber band, while in the 1st p. after chrome. knit 1 purl, 2 facial, 2 purl (2 facial, 2 purl - 1 purl, 2 facial, 2 purl) 1 purl, 2 facial, 2 purl and finish the row symmetrically.

Then switch to needles No. 5 and distribute the loops as follows: 1 chrome, 11 (12 - 15) 17 sts of the wrong side, 11 sts of the “braid”, for which after each 3rd st, knit 1 st from the broach according to the pattern - 14 p. “braids”, 12 p. of the wrong side, 11 p. “braids”, for which, after each 3rd p., knit 1 p. from the broach according to the pattern = 14 p. 12 - 15) 17 p. Wrong side, 1 chrome. = 64 (66 - 72) 76 p.

After 25.5 (27 - 30.5) 34 cm = 68 (72 - 82) 92 p. from the strap, knit on the loops of the wrong side of the front surface.

After 27 (29.5 - 32) 35.5 cm = 72 (80 - 86) 96 p. from the bar close for armholes on both sides 1 x 3 p., then in each 2nd p. 1 x 2 p. and 2 (3 - 3) 3 x 1 p. = 50 (50 - 56) 60 p.

After 12 (13.5 - 15) 17 cm = 32 (36 - 40) 46 p. from the beginning of the armhole, close the middle 16 (16 - 18) 20 p. for the neckline and first finish the left side.

To round the neck along the inner edge, close in every 2nd p. 1 x 2 p. and 1 x 1 p. = 14 (14 - 16) 17 p.

After 2 cm = 6 p. from the beginning of the neck close the remaining loops.

Before

Knit like a back, but for a deeper neck, close after 6 (7.5 - 9) 11 cm = 16 (20 - 24) 30 p. from the beginning of the armhole, the average 12 p. And first finish the left side. To round the neck along the inner edge, close in every 2nd p. 1 x 2 p. and 3 (3 - 4) 5 x 1 p. = 14 (14 - 16) 17 p.

After 8 cm = 22 p. from the beginning of the neck close the remaining loops.

Finish the other side symmetrically.

Sleeves

On knitting needles No. 4.5, dial 30 (32 - 34) 36 loops for each sleeve and tie 4 cm for the bar = 11 p. rubber band, while in the 1st p. after chrome. knit 1 purl, 2 facial, 2 purl (2 facial, 2 purl - 1 purl, 2 facial, 2 purl) 2 facial, 2 purl and finish the row symmetrically.

For bevels, add on both sides at 15 (13 - 13) 15th p. from the bar 1 x 1 p. and then in each 12th p. 4 x 1 p. (in each 12th p. 5 x 1 p. - in each 12th p. 5 x 1 p. and in the next 10th p. 1 x 1 p.) in each 12th R. 6 x 1 p. = 40 (44 - 48) 50 p.

After 27.5 (31 - 34.5) 37 cm = 75 (83 - 93) 99 p. close from the bar on both sides for the sleeves 1 x 3 p. and in each 2nd p. 2 (2 - 2) 1 x 2 p., 6 (8 - 10) 15 x 1 p. and 1 (1 - 1) 0 x 2 p. = 10 p.

After 7.5 (9 - 10.5) 12.5 cm = 20 (24 - 28) 34 p. from the beginning of the oka close the remaining 10 p.

Assembly

Run shoulder seams.

On the edge of the neckline on circular knitting needles No. 4.5, dial 72 (72 - 76) 80 p. And knit 2 cm with an elastic band. Then close the loops.

Sew on the sleeves. Sew sleeve seams and side seams.
