They appear in everything, including the national costumes of the peoples of Russia. We invite you to learn a little more about the features of some of them.

Russian costume

Let's start with the national costume of the most numerous people of Russia. Historically, the basis of the wardrobe of a Russian man or woman was a shirt, which was worn on top, depending on the gender, a caftan or sundress.

The decoration and material of the clothes were different, so the festive attire was characterized by an abundance of embroidery. Its main motive was folk patterns, but there were no restrictions: thanks to this, embroidery became a kind of “calling card” of the owner, telling his story.

Also, by clothing, one could understand which class a person belongs to (for example, embroidery with gold and silver thread was popular among the wealthy population) or what his marital status was (for example, such a headdress as a kichka was worn exclusively by married women). Another feature of the national costume is its layering. This is due to changeable weather in most regions and cold weather, so a caftan and a quilted jacket were an integral part of the wardrobe.

Russian national clothes combined beauty and functionality. She must be free. The richer options worn by the boyars were lined with furs.

Features of national clothes in Russia:
1. The outfit was layered, especially for women. They put on a zippered poneva on the shirt, on top of it was a “zapon” or an apron, then an apron.

2. All clothes were loose fitting. For convenience and freedom of movement, it was supplemented with rectangular or oblique inserts.

3. All costumes of the Russian people had a common obligatory element - a belt. This piece of clothing was not only used to decorate or hold clothes. The ornaments on the belts served as a talisman.

4. All clothes, even everyday and work clothes, were embroidered. It carried a sacred meaning for our ancestors and served as protection against evil spirits. From embroidery, one could learn a lot about a person: his social status, age and belonging to a certain genus.

5. Folk costumes Russians were sewn from bright fabrics and richly decorated with braid, beads, embroidery, sequins or patterned inserts.

6. An obligatory element of both male and women's clothing was a headdress. In some areas, for married women, it was multi-layered and weighed about 5 kilograms.

7. Each person had special ceremonial clothes, which were more richly decorated and embroidered. They tried not to wash it and put it on several times a year.

Tatar costume

Tatar National Costume is an interesting combination of two trends: it was influenced by the common traditions of the eastern peoples and Islam. The basis of clothing was a shirt-dress, which is called "kulmek", and harem pants.

Other components of the wardrobe were beshmet chekmen and kazakin - these are varieties outerwear. Also, a robe was often worn on top, which was originally considered the subject of a working wardrobe. Among the female population, vests and aprons, scarves (as an obligatory component of the Muslim wardrobe) and massive jewelry were also popular as an accessory. And the national men's headdress - skullcap - is still worn by some representatives of the people for religious rites.

The Bashkir costume, like the national costumes of many other peoples of Russia, was sewn according to one pattern for men and women. It is characteristic that the Bashkirs used not only vegetable fibers, traditional for that time, but also leather and fur as the main material. Yelyan and kazakin, deaf suits lined with long sleeves, were primarily common among this people as outerwear.

A dressing gown or a fur coat (depending on the season) became an important component of festive clothing. Bathrobes were embroidered jewelry, bright embroidery, stones. For women, the festive set also included a dress and an apron with embroidered patterns.

The culture of Yakut clothing combines many diverse elements.

The outer clothing of such a suit is very dense, made of fur, leather, cloth and other materials. Traditionally, the wardrobe is decorated with bead embroidery, ornaments, metal, pendants. This decor is bright: even everyday sets look very elegant. The difference between festive clothes is in a much more complex style.

Dagestan costume

The last national costume of the peoples of Russia, which we will consider, is the Dagestan costume as one of the most striking and characteristic elements of the North Caucasian culture. It was formed under the influence of two factors: the Muslim tradition and the mountain climate. Elements of the Dagestan costume quite often underwent changes, but the basis remained unchanged.

For men, the traditional set is a white shirt, black trousers and a Circassian coat (caftan), usually red. The costume was completed by a thin belt, on which weapons, boots and a headdress, a fur cap, were attached.
