I sewed this baby overalls for the baby at the end of winter - the beginning of spring, when it is still quite cold outside. Then we were still very young, we only lay on walks, so we wanted to sew warm and comfortable clothes. I took the jumpsuit pattern from the children's clothing magazine Ottobre (No. 4 - 2004), which, in my opinion, is the best magazine for children's clothing patterns.

I sewed in size 68 (according to height), but this pattern can also be sewn in other sizes: 56-62-68-74-80-86.

The fabric for the overalls is polyester on a synthetic winterizer (quilted), if desired, you can insert another layer of insulation (wool, holofiber). For older children, you can use maida insulation, thinsulate - they are thin, but warm, so they are great for babies who are starting to walk on their own, and they just need light clothing that will not hinder their movements. Lining - cotton, you can knit. Better choose natural fabric because it is in contact with the face and body of the child.

Details (from the main fabric and lining):

1. Breast - 1 child. with a fold.

2. Side inserts in front - 2 children.

3. Back - 2 children.

4. Sleeve - 2 children.

5. Hood - 1 child.

6. Plank - 1 child.

I added a chest pocket and cuffs on the sleeves and legs to cover the legs and arms.

Additionally, I needed two zippers (I took a length of 40 cm, you can 50 cm), Velcro.

Pocket. We sew the main fabric of the pocket with the lining from the wrong side, turn it inside out. We sew along the edge and sew a pocket on the chest.

Lightning. Sew the zippers to the chest, but without lining.

We sweep, then, together with the lining fabric, sew along the front side. Similarly, we sew the second half of the zipper to the side inserts of the front.

If the zippers are detachable, then the zipper connection can be closed with a patch (I used a piece of brown leather).

Back and sleeves. We carry out the middle seam of the back on the main fabric and on the lining separately.

Then we also sew the sleeves along the raglan line to the main fabric and lining.

Sew the crotch and side seams. These parts of the main and lining fabric are sewn separately. Then we turn the lining inside out and insert it inside the overalls.

Hood. We sew the details of the hood, leaving open the edge that is sewn to the neck. Turn inside out, stitch along the edge.

We sew the main fabric of the hood to the collar, and then the lining fabric to hide the seam, sew it with a blind seam or sew it off.

Plank. A strap must be sewn onto the chest so that the neck and hood fit snugly around the neck. We sew the details of the bar, turn it inside out, stitch it out. We sew one half of the Velcro to the ends of the strap, and sew the other half to the hood. The length of the Velcro should be chosen so that you can fasten the bar tighter and weaker.

How to make patterns of summer overalls for the girl herself

As I said, I will not use ready-made patterns. Sometimes I'm just too lazy to print, glue and transfer patterns to tracing paper. Therefore, I act quickly and simply. I don't need to take a bunch of measurements for this method, I'll show you how to make your own jumpsuit pattern using just two measurements.

1. To make a pattern of summer overalls from my mother's dress, I separated the bodice (top) from the skirt along the waistline.

2. The top of the summer jumpsuit will be on the smell, so I cut the bodice - a shelf and a back in the middle.

Before (the shelf) I cut along the oblique.

The back will be sutured to measure the width of the back. To do this, I need to take measurements - The width of the back, who does not know, it is measured parallel to the floor along the back, from one armpit to the second.

We have a back width of 35 cm. I add 2 cm to it. For allowances = 35 + 2 = 37 cm.

I sew the back along the middle seam so that the distance from the arrow to the arrow in the photo becomes equal to the segment 37 cm in finished form.

3. Now I cut out the bottom of the overalls - pants. For this, in fact, the pattern can also not be used. You just need to understand how the halves of the pants are cut.

As you can see from the photo, the back half of the trousers is slightly higher than the front, by about 3-4 cm. Another difference is that the back is cut along the middle seam more concave inward. Therefore, you can make these details of the pants by hand by eye.

The only measurement I need is the length of the seat at the middle seam. You need to tie an elastic band at the waist and measure the distance from the waist at the back to the front, passing a centimeter tape between the legs. And add + 5 cm to this value for freedom of fitting.

I got a value of 50 cm. I cut out the halves of the pants so that the total length of the seat along the shelf and back is 50 cm. In other words, the segment a + b \u003d 50 cm.

4. I alternately sew the front and back halves of the pants along the middle seam.

5. I put the front of the pants on the back. I connect with each other first along the side seams, then along the step cut. Allowances for all cuts - 1 cm.

7. I sew the bottom (pants) to the top (bodice).

8. I insert elastic bands at the waist and bottom of the pants.

9. I sew a hinged loop and a button on the neckline so that the bodice does not swing open.

Summer jumpsuit for a girl without a pattern is ready! Why is this method good? When I sewed a jumpsuit from a dress, the top was already ready. I did not have to process the cut of the armhole and sew on the sleeves. And this, believe me, is not the easiest sewing operation, and I managed to save time by skipping this step. - synthetic winterizer;

- 2 zippers;

Cut out details from raincoat fabric and lining. Transfer all patterns to synthetic winterizer. Every detail will be insulated. Stitching will result in two layers.

Sweep the lining and the main fabric, sew a seam on a typewriter.

Cut the backing for the zipper. Put the parts of the front side inward and stitch, leaving the junction with the neck not stitched.

Unfold and sew the edge with stitches.

Fold the lining with the hood, lining to lining. Take them on and stitch them.
