Refillable aluminum bottles for liquids are more environmentally friendly than drinking water or other beverages in plastic containers. However, if you are the owner of such a bottle, then you know perfectly well what a good conductor of heat aluminum is. With the help of an insulator, drinks and your fingers can keep their usual temperature for longer. This is a small project, so it can be done with any leftover thread or rope from your previous work.

This article explains how to braid standard size bottles along with pictures showing the number of loops to get a specific result. Use whichever suits you best. Working with standard size pieces will teach you a lot about plain crochet, in fact you can crochet any cylindrical object with this method. The materials shown in the demonstration are listed in the "Things You Need" section.

Steps

Measure the circumference (distance around) of your bottle. The key to braiding is the correct number of loops for this volume.

    • Due to the fact that the braid will be knitted, it will stretch a little, so you must knit so that the braid fits snugly.
  1. Measure the loops. Knit a chain about 7-8 cm, knit two more rows and double crochet in the third loop from the hook. Double crochet one st per st back across the row you knitted.

Count the number of loops in the trial piece and measure their length. It is better to count in the middle to avoid miscalculations due to uneven edges. So, in 5 cm (length of the sample) there are seven loops (number of loops of the sample). Measure the length of the loop in the same units that you used to measure the circumference of the bottle.

    Calculate the normal proportion:

    Sample sts / Sample length = Total sts / Bottle circumference Total sts = (Sample sts x Circumference) / Sample length So total sts = (7 sts x 9 inches (22, 8cm)) / 2 inches (5cm) = 31 loops.

    • For this example, round up to 30 stitches for easier counting and for a tighter braid. Write down this number.
    • Loosen the skein if you want to straighten the thread.
  2. Tie the round bottom of the braid (see. hints for concretization of details). You should end up with a flat disc about the same measurements as the bottle, or a little smaller, and with the same number of stitches in the last row as in the "total number of stitches" number above.

Tie a slip knot, work several stitches (4-6) and join with a half single crochet to form a ring.

Work three stitches to start the first round (counts as the first double crochet) and double crochet into this round.

    Connect with a half-column without a crochet.

Knit two stitches to start the second round (counts as the first row of a double crochet). Then work with a double crochet in each stitch from the first round. In the example, we have two loops by 2.5 cm, so that there are 30 loops, the number of total loops that we wrote down before. Add an extra circle if necessary to get the required diameter. See tips below on how to do this.

"Shape the sides. Work in two stitches and double crochet one stitch in each stitch of the previous round.

Try on the base on the bottle when you have knitted the first few rows. If it is too loose, you need fewer stitches on the last round of the warp. If it comes out too tight, you need to add a few loops either to the round base, or to one of the lower rows, knitted with a single crochet near the base. Either way, it's best to find it out right away.

  3. Decide if you want to make ribbon loops and how many should be. With a good drawstring at the top, they will be more of a decorative element, but if you want, you can place them along the shape of the bottle.

    • If you don't want to make ribbon loops, continue to single crochet the entire bottle until you reach the desired height.
    • Position the tape tabs a little lower than you need, remember that the braid will stretch with use.
  4. Make ribbon loops. Finish the circle where you want the ears to be.

    1. Knit three loops.
    2. Double crochet in the next two stitches from the previous round (total three double crochets, including the loop).
    3. Double yarn over into the next stitch. The double crochet will be too high for the double crochet round, so it will look like a belt loop that will stick out if you pull it a little.
    4. Continue with the pattern where three double crochets are followed by a double crochet to the end of the round. Make one or two lugs with only 2 double crochets in between to get an even number of sts and lugs.
    5. Join with a half single crochet, work one st and continue working additional rounds with a single crochet as before.

A beautiful knitted bottle cover will change it beyond recognition.

After this master class, you will no longer be indifferent to glass packaging. Such decor will transform a boring container, turning it into a flower vase or a gift. Kids will be happy to drink healthy drinks from such a bottle, whether it be juice or milk. It remains to figure out how to tie a bottle with knitting needles in order to get a beautiful result with your own hands quickly and with maximum pleasure.

Materials for needlework

To create a knitted bottle cover you will need:

  • acrylic threads in two colors,
  • knitting needles (No. 2),
  • scissors,
  • thread,
  • centimeter and needle.

And, of course, the bottle itself, in this master class, containers from baby juice were used.

To tie a bottle beautifully, the remnants of yarn left over from knitting clothes, or unnecessary things, for example, you can dissolve a boring sweater or cardigan for a new cover.

Master class on knitting a cover

Carefully study the instructions on how to knit a bottle case with your own hands, and then get to work, focusing on the photo in the process of knitting.

Measure the bottle with a centimeter to correctly calculate the number of loops. Depending on the thickness of the thread, it will be different (here it turned out about 3 loops per 1 cm). The presented drawing of the canvas makes it possible not to change their number, but at the same time the cover will sit on the “figure” of the bottle.

Cast on 48 loops plus 2 hem loops with a pink thread (the circumference of the widest part of the bottle is 17 cm) in any way you know.

Knit 22 rows with a double elastic band (front row: 2 front and 2 purl, purl - according to the pattern, but in fact, the same 2 front and 2 purl in a different order).

Now start creating a diagonal braid, for which go to a beige thread, which you tightly tie to the leading pink one.

Turning the cover back and forth, knit 8 rows to get an even column, with the front row should be the last.

Knit 3 more front loops.

Turn the fabric again and purl 6 stitches so that there are 3 left on the second needle (they are no longer involved in the diagonal braid pattern).

Tie a column similar to the first in 8 rows, and on the last front pick up the next 3 loops.

Thus, constantly turning the future bottle cover and repeating the columns, knit a diagonal braid.

Go back to the pink thread, tying it to the lead beige thread (don't cut the ends too close to the knot, as the acrylic is quite slippery and there is a good chance that the threads will come loose under tension).

Knit 28 rows, then repeat the diagonal braid without changing the color of the thread (if you wish, you can switch back to beige). At the last step, work 5 rows in garter st and bind off the fabric (knit 2 loops together, return the resulting loop back, knit 2 together again and repeat to the end of the row).

Sew the knitted cover with neat stitches, turning it inside out.

Now, from threads of two colors, braid a pigtail, fixing both ends with knots, and twist the cover through the holes that formed in the diagonal braid. This will decorate the product and make it more interesting.

Work is ready! You can admire, use for its intended purpose or pack for a gift.

Yulia Kosich prepared a step-by-step master cash register for knitting a case for a glass bottle with her own hands, photo of the author. Especially for the online magazine "Women's Hobbies".

Or going to visit, we choose a bottle of good wine. For gourmets of this ancient drink, which has not been lost in modern times, such a gift will be a joy. Or maybe it will be suitable for someone for a collection (this is for those who always have a good set of alcohol for connoisseurs in the bar). To make the gift look even more attractive, for a bottle of wine it would be nice to choose original packaging. A special high gift bag is chosen for presenting as a gift, but the bottle itself can become elegant. To do this, we will knit a gift case for a vessel with wine, which we will also decorate with a flower.

Originality is always important in this business, so we choose textured yarn, the thread of which is of uneven thickness, has thickened sections, and in composition - cotton with viscose. The color is also original, black with bright pink weaves. We select the hook for this uneven thread with the condition that the knitting should turn out to be mesh, not dense. In a pair of this thread, we select bright pink acrylic yarn, from which we will knit a rose for decoration. A small skein of yarn is useful for knitting a ribbon or tie cord.

We make a packaging case for a bottle with a round bottom. At the beginning of knitting, we collect 4 air loops, close in a ring. We tie 8 columns without a cape into this ring and go to the second row. Starting from it, we do everything with double crochets. Inc in next 3-4 rows until the circle reaches the size of the bottom of the bottle.

Then we stop adding loops and knit in a circle in height. In the process of knitting, we apply a cover to the bottle. The height of the cover should cover the entire bottle.

The last row is performed according to the scheme: 1 ch. on the rise, then rapport: * lush column of 2 tbsp. with a crochet, ch 2, in the next loop of the bottom row a lush column of 2 tbsp. with a crochet, a simple column in the next loop of the bottom row *. We repeat the rapport to the end of the row, getting a slightly wavy edge.

Ribbon for tying can be chosen from satin braid or knitted from yarn suitable color. In our case, a cord was made from grass-colored yarn using a cord knitting machine. Not everyone has such a machine, so using a hook it is not difficult to tie a ribbon of two rows: 1 row of 70 air loops, the second row of double crochets.
We put a connected cover on the bottle, tie it with a ribbon around the neck, tuck the edges.

We knit a rose from acrylic yarn, choose the twisted ribbon method. We knit a strip of yarn according to the scheme: we collect 60 ch, then rapport in the fourth loop of the bottom row *in one loop: 1 tbsp. double crochet, ch 2, 1 st. with a crochet, in the next loop of the bottom row: 1 tbsp. single crochet*. It turns out like the letter V. The second row is longer than the first in each report by 3 loops. Due to this, the tape begins to twist already in the process of knitting.

Having finished the second row, we begin to form a rosette, twist the knitted ribbon in a spiral, and then fasten all the twisted tiers of the ribbon from the inside with a thread of the same yarn, just stitch it through, without tightening it too much so as not to crumple the flower.

It's no secret that the most pleasant gifts for both the giver and the recipient are those in which a particle of the soul is invested. Even the simplest objects, made or decorated with my own hands acquire a special aura.

For example, a bottle of even the best cognac will become both beautiful and original gift, if you put it in such a bright case, knitted.

In order to knit a gift case for a cognac bottle, you will need 30 g of red and a little white YarnArt yarn (150 m / 50 g, 100% acrylic), knitting needles No. 3 and 4, satin ribbon 35 cm long.

The piece is worked from top to bottom in 1x1 ribbing and stockinette stitch. Cast on 51 sts on needles No. 3 with red yarn and start making a tight elastic band.

Knit a cuff 9-10 cm long.

After that, go to the knitting needles number 4 and front surface. Make 4 rows, and then introduce white yarn into work. Distribute the loops as follows: 1 chrome, 3 p. red yarn, * 1 p. white yarn, 5 p. red **, repeat from * to ** 7 times, 1 p. beala, 4 p. red, 1 chrome . At the same time, knitting 5 red loops in a row, out. on the side of the work, cross both threads after the second loop, preventing the white yarn from sagging or pulling the fabric.

Leave white yarn on the left side of the canvas and make 4 rows of red yarn. Then, in out. row, reintroduce white yarn into work, distributing the loops as follows: 1 chrome, * 5 p. red yarn, 1 p. white yarn **, repeat from * to ** 8 times, 1 p. red, 1 chrome.

Leave white yarn on the right side of the canvas and again make 4 rows of red yarn. After that, start knitting an ornament in the form of a deer. Make sure that on the wrong side of the work, the broach does not deform the canvas.
