Master class on making decorations “New Year's mittens. How to make a New Year's mitten? Craft from felt mitten

We bring to your attention several simple ideas on the manufacture of New Year's toys from felt with their own hands. We chose three New Year's symbols that are usually not a toy and made them into Christmas decorations. These toys will bright accessory on the Christmas tree and leave pleasant memories for a long time.

Christmas lollipop made of felt

First we will sew a toy, which we called New Year's candy. We will need:

- Red beads and seed beads;
- White threads;
- Filler;
- Needle and scissors.

Let's start by cutting out the pattern future toy and circle it on the felt. We need two parts white color mirror images of each other and one piece of red. From green felt we will make leaves for decoration.

We work very carefully on red felt, trying not to leave traces of the pencil. We need the part to remain clean on both sides. Then we cut the red part as shown in the pattern. Take your time, cut carefully. Try not to mix up the pieces so that you don't assemble them like a puzzle later.

We start sewing. Let's start with the bottom end of the caramel. We take the parts from white felt and fold them inside out to each other, then, in the third layer, apply a piece of red felt corresponding to this fragment of the product, and sew them together with an overcast seam.

When we come to the end of the red fragment, we take the next one and apply it on the other side.

We continue to sew our caramel. Do not forget to apply the red details, alternately from different sides. As soon as we come to the end of one piece, we take the next one.
Having finished sewing on one side, we proceed to the second side of the toy. The red details are already all sewn into place and we just have to sew the edges and add the filler inside.

It is better to add the filler gradually, sew a little - stuffed a stitched piece and so on.

When the New Year's felt lollipop is completely sewn and stuffed, we start decorating.

We take our green felt leaves, fold them like a fan, fasten them and sew them to the caramel just above the middle. Very carefully sew the leaves together, the felt is very thin at the tips and can be damaged.

After the leaves are fixed on the toy, we take beads and beads. We string one bead and one bead on the thread.

Then we thread the thread back into the bead and fix it on the product. Before you fasten, check the thread, it may have twisted under the bead. It is necessary to sew the bead in such a way that it fits the fabric to the felt. The beads will not only add beauty to our toy, but also hide the stitches with which we sewed the leaves.

We do the same with the rest of the beads. At the end, we attach a loop to the finished caramel, for which we will hang the toy on the Christmas tree.

Christmas felt lollipop is ready and will become wonderful decoration for your Christmas tree!

Felt mitten

For sewing mittens we need:
- Red, white and green felt;
- Red beads and seed beads;
- White and red threads;
- Filler;
- Needle and scissors.

First, as usual, we prepare a pattern (the pattern is at the end of this article). It can be printed or redrawn, then we glue the pattern onto cardboard and cut it out. Apply finished pattern to the felt and circle. To transfer the pattern, you can use a crayon or pencil of any color, as long as all traces remain on the wrong side. With white felt, of course, you need to be careful, traces can shine through it.

When all the details of the mitten are cut out, we start sewing. First, sew the white parts to the red ones. To do this, use the usual basting seam. Keep the stitches small, at a small distance from each other, so they will hold the parts together more firmly and will look more beautiful on the finished product.

Now immediately sew on the front part of our decoration. We take the leaves, lay them out like a fan, fasten them together and sew on a mitten. When fastening the leaves, be careful not to overdo it. When stitching thin parts, the felt can fluff or stretch, this spoils appearance and product strength. For example, a carelessly sewn leaf may simply fall off over time.

Sew on beads. After attaching the leaves, we do not break the thread, but simply bring it to the front side of the mitten and string the bead. After the bead we string the bead. We tighten the thread so that the bead fits snugly on the felt, and thread the corner with the thread back into the hole in the bead. Thus, the thread passes twice through the bead and once through the bead.

Now we fold the front and back of the mitten, inside out to each other and begin to sew. Sew along the edge with an overcast seam. Try to make small stitches at the same distance from each other. Start sewing with the red parts, and when the red parts are sewn, fill the mitten with holofiber or padding polyester. Any other filler you have will also work. We do not stuff too much, just to give our mitten volume.
We change the thread to white and begin to sew the remaining upper part. Add some more filler so that it is evenly distributed throughout the toy, and finish connecting the parts.

We attach a rope to the upper part, in the middle, so that our New Year's toy can be hung on the Christmas tree.

New Year's felt mitten is ready!

Felt boot

The process of creating a boot is similar to making a New Year's mitten.
We will also need
- Red, white and green felt;
- Red beads and seed beads;
- White and red threads;
- Filler;
- Needle and scissors.

Cut out the pattern. You can change the size of the pattern and make the boot the size you need: small, like a Christmas tree toy, or large to put a gift in it. You just need to change the scale when printing the pattern. Do not forget that the details of the boot should mirror each other.

Sew the upper white parts of the boot to the red ones. We use a basting stitch.

We decorate the front part with felt leaves and beads. You can arrange the decor element to your taste: at the top, at the bottom or even on the nose of the boot)

Let's sew the red part first. Start at the top and work your way up to the toe for a more comfortable fit. After the sock is sewn, we will add filler to it and continue to connect the two parts of the boot.

Then we change the thread and go to the white part. If you are making a large boot for a gift, then do not sew up the top. Just work the edges along the top with an overlock seam without joining them. If you are making a New Year's toy, then when you finish sewing, attach a rope or ribbon at the top.

Now we can decorate the Christmas tree with wonderful Christmas toys made of felt!

For convenience, we have prepared a set for sewing felt toys. You can buy it by clicking on this.
Have a great mood and creative success!
The material was prepared by Marta Lunkova, an employee of the Kalinka-Polinka campaign.

Very soon, everyone's favorite holiday, which gives magic and faith in a fairy tale, - New Year. For many years it has been customary to put a beautiful Christmas tree and decorate the house. But store toys are of the same type - it is much more pleasant to do something with your own hands, because such a craft will give warmth, love and comfort. We offer you to make a New Year's mitten that will delight you year after year.

Necessary materials:

  • felt of 2 shades (red and white);
  • threads "iris" white;
  • paper;
  • pencil or pen;
  • beads;
  • scissors;
  • cotton wool;
  • satin ribbon.
We make all seams with a double thread. For the contour, it is better to use a thick needle. Suitable for needlework with a child from 7 years old. A finished souvenir can be hung on a Christmas tree or decorate a house - for example, on a doorknob or on a carnation in the wall.

We sew a New Year's mitten with our own hands: a step-by-step master class

For work, we need red felt, A4 size is enough.

On paper we draw a sketch of our future mitten.

Cut out. Fold the felt in half, attach and circle the workpiece. Cut out.

Cut out a small heart from paper.

We apply it to our mitten: it should not crawl out of the edges and at the same time be too small.

Outline and cut out. We do this with only one part of the workpiece.

A little more than a heart, cut out a square of white or milky felt.

We apply to the wrong side and sew with an even seam. Try to make the seams and the distances between them the same.

If the corners come out, cut them off.

From the wrong side, outline the snowflake.

We embroider a snowflake with beads or beads of medium size and a silvery shade.

We put 2 parts together and beautifully (make a loop and pull the thread to form a knot) with a seam we connect, leaving the top free.

Again, from white felt, we embroider a detail for the top of the mitten, which will imitate fur.

Sew on the bottom with a seam forward with a needle.
Stuffed with cotton inside. Cut off the red ribbon 15-20 cm long.

How to make Christmas mittens?

To make a beautiful New Year's mitten, we need very simple things, such as:

Sleeve from an old wool sweater
. Scissors
. large needle
. Yarn
. Thread for embroidery
. Decor elements

And so, let's get to our work!

1. The first step is to prepare the most important thing - the sleeve of the sweater, or the sweater as a whole. It should be washed well and squeezed out at high speeds. This is necessary so that it does not bloom in the future. Then, with scissors, we cut out the area we need.

2. Choose the size of the mitten according to the size of the gift. We cut out our mitten.

3. We fold the two parts with the right side in the middle and see if they are even or not. If yes, then we can sew. Sew them along the edges, leaving only one unsewn side.

4. We turn our mitten inside out and start decorating it. In our case, we sew on two beautiful buttons with white threads.

5. You can also sew a piece of white embroidery on the edge of the mitten.

Felt crafts are soft and pleasant to the touch, this material is easy and interesting to work with. Details can be sewn on a typewriter, by hand or glued.

Before starting work, prepare:

  • patches of multi-colored felt;
  • material that will be used as a filler;
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • sequins;
  • beads;
  • a needle;
  • threads;
  • cardboard;
  • narrow ribbons for loops.

To make such cute New Year's toys, you will need to prepare patterns from paper or cardboard, outline the details on them, cut them out and carefully sew them, as in the photo.

As a filler, you can use unnecessary flaps of fabric or foam rubber. Do not forget to sew loops from narrow belts so that they can be easily hooked.

The bear is sewn, as in the previous version - according to the pattern. Knit a scarf for him separately with a crochet or knitting needles. Embroider a muzzle with threads and sew sequins on the back that will resemble snowflakes.

toys in the form New Year's sweets- real cuties! Please note that in this case, the decoration elements are not sewn on, but glued.

To sew an asterisk out of felt, cut out an even number of identical parts, sew them in pairs with a hem seam (photo above), leaving one edge. Fill with filler and sew up completely. Decorate Christmas toys with beads.

To make such beautiful hearts with your own hands, you will need to work hard. First, make a blank from cardboard in the form of hearts and separately in the form of drawings that will decorate them. Take sharp scissors, cut out hearts and an ornament (they should be in contrasting colors). Gently sew on a typewriter or glue an ornament to hearts, sew a loop.

You can also make crafts without volume and without filler, as in the photo. In this case, the two layers of material can simply be glued or sewn together.

A master class on making a bell is clear even to a child. A toy is made from several layers of felt, cut into strips of 1 cm, the cut is not made completely, a strip of fabric should remain on top, which is attached to a loop-lace. Such simple craft suitable and .

The technique for making mittens is similar to making hearts, smaller details are fixed on the main canvas, it looks like a collage.

You will have to work hard with the cones. Cut out some flowers from brown and pistachio flowers. They should go like a pyramid, i.e. cut out different sizes: bigger and smaller. String "flowers" on the thread with a pyramid, alternating colors. Make ponytails out of brown felt.

It is made by the method of application from a single layer of material.

It is made according to the same principle as toys-sweets.

These were the basic principles of work. And fantasy and photos will prompt new ideas, by embodying which you can boast of the most elegant Christmas tree and exclusive Christmas toys made of felt.

There are still three weeks before everyone’s favorite holiday, but it’s worth starting preparing for it now: think over the menu, entertainment program and, of course, decorate everything around! Why did our choice today fall on mittens? Abroad, the symbol of Christmas is socks hanging by the fireplace, in which Santa Claus leaves gifts - well, our Santa Claus is more like mittens. It is easy to sew them yourself from felt or an old sweater, and unnecessary gloves themselves can be turned into Stuffed Toys. And we will also make postcards, applications and other interesting things. Join now!

DIY postcards

Nowadays, you will not surprise anyone even the most beautiful New Year's card from the shop. To make a really memorable greeting, you need to put a little creativity into an ordinary piece of cardboard and turn it into an interesting holiday card.

There are many options: you can cut out mittens from colored paper or colorful flannel using a stencil, and then decorate a cardboard card with them. You can fold a sheet of cardboard in half and give it the shape of a mitten - so that new year greetings will appear, as it were, in two “palms” (and if the fold is made on the other side, thumbs form a heart). A postcard with a hiding place will turn out if you glue two cardboard halves of the mitten (or sew them with beautiful woolen threads over the edge), leaving the “elastic band” that falls on the wrist free: inside you can hide both always up-to-date banknotes, as well as tickets to the cinema, theater, circus etc.

Such postcards-mittens can be decorated with markers or paints, decorated with embroidery and ribbons, beads and buttons, foil and natural materials- as the fantasy tells. For work, it is worth stocking up in advance with cardboard and paper, PVA glue and scissors, colored threads and various trifles for decoration. To make a template, you can put a real mitten on your hand and circle it. As an option - draw by hand or copy from the Internet.

Mitten as decoration

With the onset of cold weather, one can often come across such a picture: a bright mitten hangs alone on the branches of trees or shrubs, lost by the owner and carefully hung out for viewing by some passerby. Of course, it is difficult to call it an ornament - it is more like a "lost and found". But here in the festive decor of the home and the New Year's tree, mittens can be very useful!

And it’s not so important what they will be made of: cut out of cardboard, sewn from scraps of fabric or baked from salt dough and painted - each option has its own advantages. Lightweight cardboard will not damage even a small Christmas tree, and crafts from it are easy to fix in other places with adhesive tape. Fabric mittens look more elegant, plus, like in a vase, you can put a Christmas “herbarium” of twigs and berries, as well as tangerines, sweets, nuts, some inserts with wishes or New Year’s riddles ... Crafts from salt dough cannot be distinguished from real cookies , so they look quite cozy in the decor. The main thing is not to confuse :)

Applications from "gloves"

Simple and original: take colored paper, turn it over with the colored side on the table, put the palm of your hand and circle it with a pencil. Then we cut out the stencil, and repeat the procedure many more times - until we get a lot of figures different colors. As practice shows, quite interesting applications are obtained from them: a Christmas tree with toys, a snowman or Santa Claus with a bag of gifts. You can fix your palms on a painted wall using double-sided tape, or on whatman paper - however, you can draw these same prints on it by dipping your hands in paint.

glove toys

Most often in the pantry we keep old things that we no longer wear - but which we still hope to use “for household purposes” one day. Well, why shouldn't it happen today? Find gloves among your supplies and, armed with scissors and a needle and thread, sew funny soft toys out of them. By the way, in some handicraft shops you can find similar crafts made from mittens or socks, which connoisseurs of modern art quickly take apart for souvenirs.

All you need is to find a pattern of a suitable little animal on the net and slightly change the gloves (not only moms and dads who are far from sewing, but also children can handle this). It remains to stuff cotton wool or synthetic winterizer into ready-made "skins" of giraffes, octopuses, cubs or elephants. The last stage of metamorphosis is to sew bead noses and button eyes on toys. The mouth can be designed in different ways: embroidered in the form of a smiley face or a toothy Hollywood smile, supplemented with a pink ribbon tongue. By the way, if you decide to make an octopus with children, do not forget to embroider its tentacles with beads on the underside - this way it will be even more realistic!

Event calendar

Only the lazy one still talked about this Western tradition, which is slowly taking root with us. Usually, the event calendar is started from December 1, but, in principle, it can be started in the middle of the month. What you need it for, you probably know: each mitten (sock, envelope, box) hung on a garland and has its own number - according to the number of the December calendar. Sweet gifts are placed inside to maintain the pre-holiday mood, as well as tasks for preparing for the new year for the current day. Sometimes such "pendants" are cut off after a day, but somehow this does not add much beauty. Therefore, lovers of this method of counting the days until the new year suggest the following: take a nice clothespin and simply hang it every morning on a new “number”.

delicious mittens

It is known that on New Year's Eve, the housewives, excuse me, are not in the mood for cookies: here you will crumble the “Olivier” and wind the hairpins ... You can treat children and households with fragrant glazed pastries with “winter” motives right now, because the main part of the holiday is his expectation! Why postpone all the pleasures for a festive night?

What would you give as a gift?

And why not mittens? Of course, these should not be simple mittens, but with a twist: positive hedgehogs, foxes, dinosaurs, cat paws... They can be sewn from improvised materials, knitted from warm threads, or simply supplemented with original details of factory-made mittens. And for loving th couples a good gift there will be a “general” mitten, putting on which you can hold hands. Sherche for inspiration!
