Why do thumbnails shine? Why nails do not shine after removing the sticky layer

Any design will look more interesting if you use sparkles for decoration. They can be complemented with a manicure for a barely noticeable overflow, but they can also be effectively used to implement bold design ideas. The brilliant decor will harmoniously fit into the design of a manicure for both a young beauty and ladies of mature age.

Types of sequins

For nail design, manicure masters use different types sequin. They differ from each other in such criteria:

With such sparkles, you can achieve a different effect in manicure: from light shimmer to complex applications and compositions.

small sequins

Small sequins can have a different release form:

  1. dry:

  1. wet:

Dry glitters are convenient to apply on a wet coating and they “stick” as intended by design. You can apply dry glitter from a jar with a dry brush or simply by dipping your nails into glitter. After completing the design of the nails with dry spangles, fixing with a transparent varnish (or a fixer) is required.

Wet glosses can be applied over any top coat and no further fixing with a clear top coat is required.

large sequins

Such shiny elements immediately catch the eye if present in a manicure. Despite their size, they can be found both dry and wet.

Dry large glosses (or glitter, kamifubuki) are produced in jars or cones, it is convenient to apply them on the nail with small tweezers on a wet coating or on sticky layer gel polish. After the design is completed, it needs to be covered with a transparent fixative or top coat.

Wet large glosses are found only in the form of varnish with a transparent base. They are not available as wet glitter. After applying varnish with large shiny particles, it is better to cover the nail with a layer of transparent coating, as they have a high density and do not completely repeat the bends of the nail plate.

Fashionable varnishing techniques

To make the manicure truly stunning, you should follow the fashion trends of design with sparkles.

Aquarium manicure

To make a three-dimensional effect on the nail, which is called an aquarium manicure, will not work on a natural nail. This design will require a gel or acrylic building nails or at least covering the nail plate with gel polish. The result directly depends on the length of the nail: short nails or cut completely, the effect of an aquarium cannot be created. In this case, use tips or build up nails.

To make such a design, on a prepared surface (extended nail, tips, covered with gel polish natural nail) decor is located:

  • glitter different sizes and flowers;
  • broths, rhinestones, acrylic modeling + glitter;
  • painting, etc.

After the location of the design is completed, it is “filled” with transparent gel polish (gel, acrylic). The coating should be done taking into account the selection of the arch of the nail (“mound”), then the nail will acquire the correct manicure bend, and the aquarium design will look more spectacular.

wedding design

This type of nail design requires special care. Excessive decoration of a manicure with sparkles can adversely affect the image as a whole.

French or moon manicure is most often chosen as the basis for a wedding manicure. It’s easy to explain such a trendy trend: French jackets look reserved, fit any style of the bride’s dress, are universally suitable for nails of any length, etc. Decorate with glitter such a manicure in different ways. Someone likes the full filling of the nail with sparkles, while someone chooses shiny elements to partially decorate the nail.

In addition to the "classic" wedding manicure other techniques are also used: gradients, ombre, airbrushing, etc. And sparkles will help to complement all this beauty.

Many women decide on a brilliant manicure only on holidays, but many make a subtle design with glitter for everyday wear. For this effect, a special transparent glitter or powder is used to create an unobtrusive shimmering manicure.

To create a shimmering effect, manicure is done like this (if gel polish is chosen):

  • cover the nail plate with a primer (base or the like), dry it in a lamp;
  • apply a colored (veil) or transparent coating (gel polish is chosen almost in tone to match the glosses) and also dry;
  • if dry glosses are used, then stickiness is not removed, and when applying wet glitter, you need to remove the sticky layer, apply glosses;
  • cover the nail with top or colorless gel polish, dry, remove the dispersion layer.

It is worth remembering that if the tone of the varnish is significantly different from the shade of the sparkles, then the flickering effect will not work.

Ideas with glitter

Glitter glitters differ from ordinary sparkles in a high concentration. The sequins seem to stretch one by one, and if you use a regular dry brush, then it will be difficult to pick up several sequins separately. With simple sequins in this regard, it is easier to handle. But glitter provides many options for decorating nails:

You can use glitter in manicure as you like, it would be enough imagination and creativity. Ready polish with glitter cannot replace glitter, as it contains a negligible concentration of glitter.

New Year's decor

Make your nails shine Christmas tree, it is possible with the help of sparkles. Large kamifubuki can imitate festive confetti. A small scattering of sparkles will make the effect of fireworks and lanterns on the Christmas tree. With the help of sequins different sizes and colors can create the most daring Christmas effects.

In addition to the brilliant decor, for New Year's manicure they use painting, stamping, airbrushing, gradient manicure, etc.

Multicolored glitter manicure

An original design can be developed using plain varnish and multi-colored sparkles. A multi-colored coating with solid color sequin. This manicure looks in any case very interesting and unusual. As a decor option, multi-colored glitter manicure can be used for space design, aquarium and for any holiday decoration.

Gradient manicure and ombre

Seasonal fashion trends nail art make changes to the familiar look gradient manicure and ombre. Now the mega trend is a sequin gradient. A good idea is to first make a color gradient, and then decorate it with glitters of a similar shade.

You can make an ombre lacquer effect with blackout without a color base, but simply using dark sparkles.

The classic jacket looks beautiful in traditional brilliant shades that can replace coloring with color. A popular design is to cover the tip of the nail with dry fine glitter, then applying white varnish is not required. Luxurious French manicure it turns out if you use other color solutions for coloring the main part of the nail plate and the tip of the nail.

sparkling moon design

To create a shiny cover for the moon design, you can use glitter either only for the main part of the nail, or for the hole. It is not necessary to “fill in” the holes and the main part with glitter, even if they are of different colors from each other.

Ideas moon manicure using sparkles can be very diverse, but the main thing is not to overdo it and make the manicure appropriate in style and application.

A color scheme

Depending on the chosen design, color combinations of sequins can be very diverse. Contrasts, gentle transitions of shades - there can be any options, the main thing is to choose “your” design.

White glitter manicure

Base white polish can be framed with sparkles of any color. But very effective white manicure looks with gold, silver, black, holographic sequins. For different effects other colors can be used in manicure. The design also looks good with transparent glosses that create shimmering or overflowing effects.

This post is dedicated to CND Shellac - the first hybrid of varnish and gel, which has long become the most famous and has generated many followers. I tried this technology for the first time, and I want to share my impressions, talk about Shellac features that interested me, and, of course, show swatches. Under the cut - a lot of text and a lot of photos. :)
I don’t want to list all the stages of application technology in this review - firstly, this is a purely professional procedure, secondly, many have already tried Shellac and are familiar with the application features, and thirdly, this information, presented professionally and clearly at the same time, can be you can easily find the official representative of the CND brand in Russia on the website. Therefore, in my post, I will not touch on the purely technical sequence of applying gel polish, but will immediately move on to those features of Shellac that I paid the most attention to, since this is generally my first close acquaintance with Shellac. :) By the way, some features were not at all obvious to me, some moments surprised me, and some made me happy. I hope you will be interested too. In order not to make my review too long, I write in the order of enumeration, without transitions from one Shellac property to another ...
1. Big3free composition. No formaldehyde and formaldehyde resin, dibutyl phthalate, toluene. I wouldn't risk trying Shellac if it contained these dangerous substances.
2. During application, there is no smell from the products, and in general there are no special sensations. Is that the lamp warms the hands, and it somehow relaxes. :)
3. Before application and after removal, it is not required to saw, grind, clean and somehow scoff at the surface of the nail plate. There is no aggressive mechanical impact on the nails either before, during or after.
4. Hardens only under a UV lamp, which allows the master to do a manicure very carefully, without rushing (Shellac, unlike varnish, will not dry itself), easily correcting even the smallest flaws. The result is an ideal coating, close to the cuticle and side ridges, with the ideal geometry of the application boundaries. Real gourmands are militant perfectionists. :) Personally, I do not trust manicure masters in terms of the ideal application and the cuticle line. Shellac allows the master to work without the slightest haste, extremely carefully and attentively. That is, Shellac allows you to make the perfect manicure, which means that you can safely demand this from the master.
5. Immediately after the end of the entire application procedure, after the final drying in the lamp and the removal of the so-called "sticky layer" - the manicure is completely ready. No need to dry or keep your hands on weight, afraid to lubricate or damage the coating.
I'll post pictures as soon as I put it on. Alas, shot in poor lighting, but you can see how Shellac is applied (fingers shine from cuticle oil):

6. In general, I want to say separately about the resistance of the coating to external influences. I think everyone has seen the wonderful Shellac ad, where in the photo they try to scratch the surface of the nail with a key. I confirm that gel polish is not afraid of anything - you can try to scratch it, you can do cleaning, you can do anything - the surface of the varnish will remain perfectly flat, without marks and without embossed prints of any impact.
7. Gel polish does not feel like something foreign at all. Shellac is applied in several layers: a base layer, 2-3 layers of color coating and a top layer. In principle, the same number of layers as when applying a regular varnish, but the layers of Shellac are very, very thin. If, when applying dense varnishes, thick or with glitter, there may be a feeling of a multi-layered heavy “sandwich” on the nails, then Shellac does not give such a feeling at all.
8. Gloss!!! Not one polish and not one glossy top shines like that, even “with the effect of wet nails”. The gloss of Shellac is just some kind of unusual, the finish turns out to be a smooth shiny coating, no possible irregularities of the nail plate are noticeable. Nails shine so beautifully that for the first couple of days I was constantly looking at how their surface reflects light. Now I know how to visually distinguish and guess Shellac on someone else's hands - it shines like ordinary varnishes never shine.
9. Features of the palette of shades. It always seemed to me that the Shellac palette is extremely small (37 shades per this moment). But the master explained to me that Shellac, due to thin translucent layers, allows you to create many new colors by layer-by-layer application of different varnishes, two or three. You can get new complex colors, with halftones and shades, new textures, if you apply a layer of shimmer and mother-of-pearl over a layer of cream varnish. The site contains a table of possible pairs of varnishes for layer-by-layer application - and more than two hundred new colors, but in general, even more can be done ... The master showed me a palette painted in this way - really new interesting shades are obtained.
10. Persistence. The manufacturer promises two weeks of durability for fingernails. The master, having examined my nails, drew attention to the fact that they are very soft and flexible and a little exfoliating, so she said that it would probably last a little less on my nails, but for sure 10 days. As a result, the manicure lasted ideally 12 days, almost reached two weeks. But for me this is a wonderful result, because on my nails even ordinary varnishes, recognized as the most resistant, do not last long. In addition, during these 12 days I did not spare my hands at all, I typed a lot on the keyboard, traveled a lot, went shopping and so on - in general, an ordinary varnish in such conditions would not have survived three days. By the way, Shellac also protects the nails well from cracks, does not allow the corners of the nails to break off (with a slightly overgrown length, they break off very often for me) ... Nails in 12 days are quite noticeably branched, but the coating on them looked almost perfect, without chips, without shabby edges of the nail, without loss of gloss.
Here I specially photographed the nails on the 11th day of wearing:

11. Removing the coating. Shellac is not able to instantly lose its “presentation”, as a regular varnish does, on which chips appear when idle. Because of my very flexible nails with corners that bend from the slightest impact, Shellac slightly peeled off (but did not chip) on the index finger (the most problematic in terms of varnish durability), and also formed a tiny, barely noticeable crack on the corner of the middle finger, also because of the softness and flexibility of the corner. Pointed by arrows:

So I’m sure that on harder and stronger nails, the coating would ideally last much longer ... in principle, I could find a varnish in color and repaint two nails, but out of habit for a long time to wear the same manicure, I wanted to paint my nails with something else ... Removal procedure Coverage was easier than I thought. I repeat that it is not required to cut off either the top layer of the coating or all layers. To remove, you will need: 1) nail polish remover with acetone in the composition (either CND Product Remover special liquid, or nail polish remover acrylic nails), 2) food foil for baking (or, if the procedure is done in the salon, then instead of foil, a special “winding” with a sponge inside from CND is used), 3) lint-free wipes for removing varnish (or halves cotton pads, or nothing at all if branded “winding” is used). It is necessary to make blanks - pieces of foil and pieces of napkins, slightly larger than the nail, and then soak them with zhdsl and wrap the foil around the nail:

Shade #34 Rubble was used as the base shade. This is a classic fine taupe, a shade of cocoa with milk or coffee with milk. Delicate, soft brown with a touch of gray. At the finish it looks like a glossy dense cream, although when applied it looks more like jelly - but this is due to the thin texture of the gel polish itself. This color is an exact copy of the regular CND "Sophia" nail polish from the collection released in collaboration with fashion designer Jason Wu. Even though I have several different taupe polishes, in 12 days I fell in love with this particular color so much that now I want to get CND “Sophia” polish (especially since it is my name). This shade is able to please every day, be appropriate in any situation and not bother.
Shade #29 Hotski to Tchotchke used as an accent on the middle and ring fingers of the left hand and on thumb right hand. A shade of slightly greenish turquoise or slightly bluish sea wave. The texture is a microshimmer, on the first translucent layer, it’s more like mother-of-pearl, but when applied densely, it’s simply incredible beautiful colour, shining, but without a separate grainy shimmer. For me, these colors are the quintessence of summer, in no other season can they be as appropriate and as good as in summer.
As a result, this combination of colors turned out to be very successful and pleasant for me, not too boring and calm, not too bright and noticeable. For 12 days, I didn’t get tired of the manicure, on the contrary, it was interesting to see how the colors play with each other in different lighting, how they harmonize with different accessories ... And it was also very nice to receive compliments. Even strangers asked me a couple of times why this varnish shines so cool? :))
On this positive note, I finish and suggest looking at the swatches (photos were taken on the fourth day after application). Some of the photos are in the sun, some are in the shade.

In Chinese medicine, experts actively use the diagnosis of the condition of the nail plates in combination with the main diagnostic methods. Advantage nail diagnostics in that it allows you to identify many ailments in the early stages, 2-3 years before their manifestation. The specialist can determine exactly when the failures in the body began. If the color of the nails has changed, then violations occur within the last month. If the structure, shape, relief of the nail plates has changed, then this indicates a serious chronic disease.

A healthy nail is even and smooth pink with a matte shade with a small crescent-shaped hole. Holes in childhood are on each finger and this indicates health. Now look at the holes in the fingernails. For many, they have become much narrower or disappeared altogether, and only the holes on the thumbs remained visible. Many traditional healers believe that white semicircular holes at the base of the nails reflect the state of health of the whole organism.

Internal diseases affect the condition of the nails

Brittleness and brittleness of nails is a lack of minerals such as iron, calcium, and vitamins B and D. It is the signal of the body that requires a short-term intake of special drugs to prevent more serious diseases.
Long-term studies have shown that it is the nails that reflect the early onset of any disease. They carry information about future diseases long before symptoms appear.

Presence or absence of holes:

  • When the holes disappear from the little fingers, this indicates diseases of the heart and small intestine.
  • The hole on the ring finger characterizes the state of the endocrine system - this indicates that a person has a metabolic disorder and problems with the lymphatic system are likely.
  • The absence of a hole on the middle finger - for problems with veins, capillaries and blood pressure, i.e. indicates the work of the vascular and circulatory system.

  • Changing the shape of the nail of the middle finger - gastrointestinal diseases.
  • Changing the shape of the nail of the ring finger - diseases of the kidneys and lungs.
  • Changing the shape of the little finger nail - diseases of the genital organs.

It must be remembered that it is impossible to draw conclusions from this diagnostic method alone. It is necessary to compare at least three or four methods and only then make a final decision.

If the eyes are called the mirror of the soul, then the nails are the mirror of our health. Exists great amount both traditional and non-traditional methods and ways of diagnosing the state of human health. Among these methods and diagnostics on the condition of our nails. For example, Chinese healers have been using this method for many centuries in a row. But at the same time, modern medicine today does not recognize the method of determining health by the condition of the nails as an independent one and uses it as an additional method to confirm or recognize any pathologies.

The nails on the hands of people are completely renewed in about six months. Therefore, they can tell about the state of human health during this period. According to individual signs of the condition of the nails, one can say about genetic predispositions to any diseases and chronic diseases. For example, if the nails begin to grow more slowly than usual, this may be one of the signs of diseases of the endocrine system, and in young women a sign of pregnancy.

Health and condition of nails and heredity

Experienced diagnosticians, looking at a person’s nails, can even tell about his parents. For example, children of chronic alcoholics have a special shape of nails - concave. People with chronic diabetes also have a distinctive nail shape, and the exact same nail shape will be passed down to their children (elongated nail). But do not worry that the disease itself will be transmitted along with the shape of the nail. But this may be a sign that a person is predisposed to a particular disease and it is necessary to take preventive methods to prevent the onset of the disease.

Changing the shape and color of nails during illness

As a rule, chronic diseases and health problems of the nail are indicated by a change in the structure of the nails, their shape and relief. At the initial stages of the disease, as a rule, only the color of the nails changes. For example, with heart defects, chronic diseases of the lungs and gastrointestinal tract, the nails take the form of drumsticks, this is a painless thickening on the terminal phalanges of the fingers of soft tissues, which usually manifests itself both on the legs and on the hands, but the bone tissue does not change .

Nail shape can also tell about the presence of very serious diseases in a person.

The condition of the nails, or rather their shape, for example, convex, may indicate that a person has pulmonary tuberculosis. With hepatitis, the nails become shiny and thin. Harbingers of the onset of oncological diseases are high tubular nails. At bronchial asthma nails become crooked and flat. If any pathology of the kidneys develops, then on the ring fingers the nails take the form of a semicircle. If there are problems associated with the spine, the nails become triangular.

But as mentioned above, not only the shape of the nails can tell about the health of their owner, the color of the nails is also such an indicator. Everyone knows that pink nails are a sign of good health, but the bluish-purple color of the nails indicates that a person is seriously suffering from pulmonary diseases or has problems with the cardiovascular system. If a person's nails are dark red, this is a sign of circulatory disorders, and with lilac nails, people experience general weakness. Yellowish nails indicate problems with the liver or gallbladder. With prolonged fever, the nails become dark brown. Yellowish-greenish nails are a sign of congenital malformations, severe heart failure, or purulent processes in the body. Milky white nails are a sign of cirrhosis of the liver, and pale nails indicate anemia.

What does the surface of the nails say

Not only the shape and color of nails can tell about the state of human health, their surface is also an important factor. White spots may appear on the surface of the nail plate, which indicates serious disorders of the nervous system, and if the spots yellow color It means that the brain function is disturbed. When vertical lines appear on the nails, you need to pay attention to how the food you eat is digested. If the grooves on the nails are horizontal, this indicates that the person has recently suffered some kind of serious illness. Also, according to the state of the surface of the nail, one can judge whether or not there are fungal diseases.

If the nails are not healthy, exfoliate or peel off, this indicates that the person is abusing juices and products containing artificial dyes, and also takes a large number of all kinds of medications.

First you need to remove noticeable irregularities from the surface of the nails: grooves, longitudinal stripes and dents. To do this, use a grinding tool, which comes in a variety of shapes: in the form of a block, a rectangular bar or a flat nail file. The main thing to pay attention to is abrasiveness: the roughest grinder has an abrasive of 100 and can damage the nail plate. For home use, only a gentle grinder is suitable - with an abrasive of at least 240.

It is better to entrust a thorough grinding with a coarse abrasive to a manicure master. This procedure removes the top layer of the nail plate and, if you get carried away, you can inadvertently grind too deep - then the nails will become brittle and may be deformed.

If you want to treat your nails yourself, then proceed very carefully, without pressing hard on the nail plate. File movements should be strictly in one direction - from the center of the nail to the sides. You can not actively "cut" on the nail. Grinding removes all the grooves and bumps, but leaves the nails slightly scratched. To give the nails a final shine and smoothness, you need to finish the procedure with oil polishing.

You can only sand your nails once.-the removed irregularities will no longer appear on them. If necessary, the treatment can be repeated already on new, regrown nails.

Second step: polishing

  • Suitable for dry and thin nails

To give the nails a glossy shine, you need to polish their surface. Masters in a beauty salon work with buffs - special nail files with a soft abrasive surface, and at home, in order not to damage the nail plate, it is better to use a piece of natural suede.

The technique is simple: apply a drop of oil or beeswax on each nail and start polishing with suede in one direction - this way you will avoid overheating the nail plate, which causes discomfort.

Polishing is done not only for the beauty and shine of nails, but also for their health. By massaging your fingertips, you stimulate circulation and seal the goodness of the oil and wax deep into the nail plate.

Natural oils and waxes nourish and moisturize nails and cuticles. And they also give a glossy shine, like a natural “varnish” for nails. True, the effect does not last long - only 3-4 days, but you do not need to use nail polish remover, which dries the nails. You can repeat polishing no more than once a week.

Third step: oil massage

  • Suitable for brittle, exfoliating nails

If you have weak, brittle and exfoliating nails, then you can’t polish, let alone grind them. Try to make a course of oil baths, and then the nails will become not only shiny, but also stronger.

Take some olive, almond or castor oil and heat in a shallow bowl. You can add a few drops of iodine or a capsule of an oil solution of vitamins E and A. Dip your fingertips in a warm bath for 5-10 minutes, and then rub the remaining oil into each nail, making a light massage. Repeat the procedure once or twice a week and in a month the nails will become more shiny and elastic.

No time for long ceremonies? Try wiping your nails with a slice of lemon every day and notice the result in a week: nail plate become clean, shiny and strong.

Just do not forget to rinse your hands with water at the end and apply nutritious cream, because lemon acid May dry skin and nails.
