We found more

Those who want to learn how to work with leather (or rather, remake old, out-of-fashion leather items into new ones) offer you an original set - a leather bag and a belt and a cap, combined from fabric and leather, which is perfect for any suit or short coat.

We have no doubt that if you carefully rummage through the home "deposits", you can always find a pair of worn or hopelessly outdated boots. But here's the paradox: if the vamp wears out (changing it in a shoe shop has often become not much cheaper than buying new boots) or becomes old-fashioned, then the tops, as a rule, always remain as good as new.

And it's just a sin to send such material to the trash. That's why we will make a bag of boots. Of course, the ideal option is if the old boots that you find for this purpose are straight from ankle to top, high enough and made of soft leather. Then success is guaranteed! Moreover, the very shape of the tops, as it were, "dictates" the choice of the style of the bag - so popular, especially among young people and middle-aged women, is a pouch or a kind of backpack. So, to work.

Carefully cut off the sole, while trying to keep the heel and vamp as much as possible (even if they are worn or cracked in some places), since even the smallest piece of leather comes into play.

Take off the heel, the vamp, the lining, the insulation (if any) and the zipper. Unfold both ankles. What do you see? This is not only a beautiful material, but it is enough to sew a medium-sized bag. If boots with decorative trim, think about how it can be used to decorate a bag.

Indeed, as a rule, it is located in such a way that when two tops are connected, it will be exactly in the middle of the bag. And this advantage should definitely be used! When you have solved the issue with the finish (again, we remind you that only those who had the appropriate source material can do this), grind the tops. Now wash (yes, that’s right, we didn’t make a reservation) the skin in warm water - better with shampoo, and not with washing powder or soap, and then stretch it on a wooden board (you already know the technique for working with leather). When the material dries, you can start the main work.

Of course, the model that we suggest you make is quite complicated, so those who are not very confident in their abilities can simply stitch the bottom, insert a “zipper” at the top and sew on some kind of handle. Those who want to try to create a kind of "masterpiece of bag art" continue to create.

The height of the bag, as you already understood, is “set” by the initial height of the tops of the boots used. We will not process the top of the bag, for this we use the finished hem of the top of the boots. By the way, if the skin is not enough, the belt can be made, for example, from a finished belt from an old leather coat or jacket.

The main thing is that it should be in harmony with the bag or, on the contrary, be in a contrasting color (black-white principle) with it. Put a buckle on the end of the finished belt (size 5 x 83 cm) and stitch it to the middle of the front seam of the front surface of the bag (while the back seam is not yet sewn).

In the workshop, punch holes for the cord and process them with blocks. You can do it yourself (glue thick skin from the inside in places of future holes, and then punch holes through two layers), but in this case there is no guarantee that it will turn out “branded”. Now make a cord. To do this, fold 2 strips of leather (each 28 cm long), sew 0.5 cm from the fold, and cut the edges to 0.2 cm.

Pass through the blocks and fasten from the inside out. The ends of the cords can be tied (for beauty) with a tight knot. Sew a seam on the back of the bag and sew the free end of the strap (bag handle) on top of it.

Now cut out the oval bottom of the bag from thick leather (perimeter length - 63 cm). For strength, you can additionally strengthen it with an adhesive gasket. To make the bottom reliable, we duplicate a leather oval from thick cardboard, but 1 cm less. The length of the perimeter of the bottom is 1-2 cm less than the bottom of the bag along the edge.

Sew the bottom inside out, turn the bag right side out and insert cardboard. Gather the sides at the top with a soft gathering, secure and place a metal brace or cover with a strip of leather, tucking the ends into small vertical slits. On the back surface of the bag, at the level of the cords, pull and fasten the elastic band and, having fixed the size of the entrance to the bag you have chosen, pull and tie the cords, placing the knot in the middle of the buckle.

Don't forget to make a lining. We made the bag. But we still have small pieces of skin. They are just enough to, combined with fabric, sew a cap that is so fashionable now and the same belt that can be worn on top of a sweater (as in our photo). As a result of the work, you will have a beautiful and stylish set.

Cap pattern fits two sizes - 57 and 58.

Choose a fabric that matches the color of the leather from which you made the bag. By the way, they should also be in harmony in texture, so fabrics that are soft, but dense enough, such as tweed or fleece, are suitable for business. Leather looks very good in combination with checkered fabric. Make the top of the visor from the sewn vamps from the boots, and the finishing button from the remnants of the skin from the heel. To do this, wet it, stretch it and sheathe a regular button.

Cut details:

I - lower frontal part - 2 parts;

II - upper frontal part - 2 parts;

III - side wedge - 2 parts;

IV - occipital wedge - 2 parts;

V - visor (dotted line marks the leather top of the visor).

According to the patterns (cell size 4 x 4 cm), cut the fabric (you need 30 cm with a width of 1 m 40 cm), carefully choosing the pattern, especially if you are sewing a cap in a cage. Treat the details with an adhesive pad, and double the visor. Please note: the patterns are given with seams, the seam is 0.8 cm. We will work simultaneously on both sides of the cap, sewing all the seams 0.3 cm each. Stitch parts I and II along line 3-4.

We grind the tuck on part III and, attaching the finished end to point 4, sew along line 2-4-5. Along line 5-6, we sew detail IV to wedge III.

Stitch the resulting two halves of the cap along the line 1-3-5-7. Unstitch the seam. On the wrong side, stitch the upper (from leather) and lower (from fabric) parts of the visor and turn it on the front side so that a fabric edging is formed.

Sweep open inner parts of the visor. Attach the finished visor with the leather part to the front side of the cap and stitch along the wrong side. Cut the lining according to the same patterns and sew in the same sequence. Put the finished lining on the cap face to face and sew it along the edge with a seam of 1 cm, leaving the hole above the visor unstitched. Turn the cap through it and stitch to the edge, leaving the piping on the wrong side of the cap.

Sew the hole under the visor on your hands. Close the intersection of all lines at the top of the cap with a leather button. If the cap is a little too big for you, pull it at the back of your head with a thick thread and secure it. It remains only to carefully iron the caps. From the remnants of the leather cut of the cap and the belt of the bag, as well as from the pieces of fabric, we will sew the cap.

How to sew a belt

The sequence of its sewing is shown in the figure. But here are some details. Put the prepared pieces of leather and fabric on a dense lining fabric, leaving an edging from it. Pin and then double stitch. Sew on the same buckle as on the bag. It would be nice to finish the belt with metal fittings. However, it must be combined in color with the buckle. In the figure, the leather parts of the belt (size 5 x 19 cm) are marked with the letter "a", the parts from suede (wrong side of the skin) - "b"; the letter "v" indicates parts of the belt made of kepi fabric.

What a pity it is to throw away your favorite old boots. I have an idea how to prolong their life for the benefit of myself or for the child. For this, boots with a long shaft, natural fur or other good insulation are suitable. From them we will cut out excellent insoles for new winter shoes, which will give more thermal insulation and keep your feet warm.
1. So, we have old boots that are no longer suitable for wearing, but they still have a long shaft with warm fur intact. We cut off the tops, and discard the lower part of the boots.

2. If the tops of the boots are high enough, then you can make insoles for yourself, for your husband, and for your child. Estimate how many insoles are enough. Take the shoes that you will insulate, remove the native insoles from it and attach them to the cut-off tops. Trace around with chalk or pencil for easy cutting.
In this case, use not only the fur lining itself, but also the top layer - the skin. This will give the insoles extra density and help retain more heat.

3. As a result, we will get such insoles. In the center of the photo - native insoles from boots, which we will insulate, along the edges - insoles cut from the tops. A pair of fur and a pair of leather.

4. Then you need to glue the leather and fur insoles together. Then glue them to the insoles of the boots. Glue so that the fur remains on top. Feet will be softer and more comfortable. The resulting insoles should not be glued inside the boot, because sometimes they need to be removed, dried or ventilated.

Every woman has things that are worn “to holes”. That is, we are so in love with this thing that we do not want to put it aside. Most often this applies to leather boots. Of course, on the one hand, the socks have already worn out, appearance on a solid “C grade”, but on the other hand, the tops look like a new thing. Then the question arises: what can be done from old leather boots? Today we will deal with this topic and find the best solution.

Making a bag from old boots

The most common solution is to sew a bag from old boots with your own hands. Now we will tell you how to make an accessory for a fashionista of high quality, beautiful and individual.

Important! The main rule when making a bag of boots with your own hands is to use quality materials. That is, you can take not one pair of old shoes, but two. They can be in contrasting colors. From this, the new product will be even more beautiful.

We act:

  • For manufacturing, you will need two blanks measuring 26 cm by 26 cm. These will be the future walls of the bag.
  • There are also three parts that will serve as the side parts and the bottom and their dimensions are 10 cm by 26 cm.

Important! In the manufacture of such an accessory, you can not use the part intended for the bottom, then you will have an accessory without a bottom. In this case, you just need to sew a seam below and connect the parts.

  • After you have cut out all the details, you need to lay out the details on the table and think through all the nuances of the future product. If your shades do not match, lay them out and think about how you will sew them together. In contrasting accessories, checkerboard colors would be an excellent solution.
