There is not much time left before the New Year. It's too early to buy a fresh Christmas tree, but now is the time to start creating a festive atmosphere in your home.

We all know perfectly well that the main symbol of the new year is the Christmas tree, which can be made with your own hands from various materials. With such Christmas trees you can decorate your apartment or festive table. They can also be a wonderful souvenir gift for your loved ones, friends and work colleagues.

I would like to offer you another very interesting option symbols of the new year Christmas trees with glitter.

Glitter - very interesting material for decorating crafts (especially New Year's). But usually they are used only partially - as decoration. Let's try to do it with you Christmas tree completely covered in glitter. And what will come of it, we will soon see.

I would like to show you the master class on a more complex herringbone of sequins with a curved crown.

For work you will need:

  • Styrofoam or floral foam cone
  • some wire with a diameter of 3 mm,
  • dry glitter,
  • PVA glue,
  • brush,
  • 2- or 3-layer napkins,
  • scissors,
  • building gypsum (alabaster),
  • planter pot, small jar or any other suitable container,
  • 2-3 barbecue skewers
  • hot glue gun,
  • decor: decorations for the crown, ribbons, beads, etc.

First you need to prepare the trunk of our Christmas tree ...

We cut the skewers to the desired length and fasten them together with hot glue. We dilute the building gypsum with cool water to the consistency of thick sour cream and put it in a previously prepared container. We evenly install our “barrel” in the center and wait a couple of minutes until the gypsum is completely solidified.

We immediately decorate the trunk with a ribbon.

Now it's time for the cone....

In order for the Christmas tree made of sparkles with a curved crown to look like a single whole and there is no transition between the top of the cone and the wire, it is necessary to do this as follows ...

At the top, we fix 2-3 wires of the length we need, on one of them we make a loop for future decoration. Immediately evenly bend the crown, symmetrical to the cone itself. Try to do it right away.

Why do I fix more than one wire .... so then you have to wrap less with napkins, the transition is smoother. We evenly distribute the wires on the top of the cone, piercing it. Can be fixed with hot glue if needed.

Carefully put the cone on the skewers, it will be much more convenient.

And now the most interesting thing, preparing a cone for our Christmas tree ... This is already my personal idea, born through experiments, so do not judge strictly.

Cut the napkins into 2 cm strips.

We wrap them around the crown, smearing everything with PVA glue. It is better to wrap it with dry napkins, and then coat with glue, otherwise they will tear.

At the junction, you can make several layers to achieve a smooth transition.

I additionally use a brush with PVA glue to smooth the napkins over the entire surface of the foam, including the bottom, so then it will be better to apply sparkles.

We are waiting for the glue to dry.

Let's check the crown again, everything should be nice and even, this is the last chance to correct minor flaws.

We dilute 1: 1 water and PVA glue, generously flavor this mixture with dry sparkles.

We mix!

Apply with a brush to the entire surface of the cone prepared by us.

We are waiting for the glue to dry. This is how it should turn out!

It remains to decorate a little and, voila, the Christmas tree of sparkles is ready ...

As you can see, everything is not so difficult. Be sure to try to create an original do-it-yourself Christmas tree made of sequins.

I was glad to help!

Today I want to talk to you about my latest scrap craze, dry glitter. Its main difference from liquid glitter is that it turns out to be a thicker pleasant shine, the main thing is not to overdo it with such shiny elements in your work, and you will get a stunning decorative element! I want to tell you about how I use it.
When I first bought glitter on sale, I didn't know why I did it and what to do with it :) Then there were several unsuccessful attempts to use it, and in the end I came to the scheme that I still use today. I use Martha Stewart's special glitter glue for gluing. The jar is quite large, there is a brush on the inside of the lid, the glue itself is like very, very thick PVA.

So, let's prepare everything for work in advance, so that later we don't waste time looking for what we need. I will cover such deer clearings with glitter.
I will take two sheets of paper - on one I will smear with glue, on the other I will shift and sprinkle with glitter. When I use glitter and embossing powder, I fold the sheet in half beforehand, on which I will sprinkle, so that later it is convenient to return the excess back to the jar. We will also prepare, of course, the glue and the glitter itself. And an awl. With an awl it is convenient to shift the figure smeared with glue, as well as remove excess glue that will fall into the small bends of the cutting or chipboard.

Next, let's get to work. Thoroughly glue the figure with glue, I prefer to do all the operations in turn in this case, so that the glue does not have time to dry, otherwise areas may appear where the glitter will not stick. Then we shift the figure onto the prepared dry sheet and sprinkle liberally with glitter.

I recommend that you do not immediately pour off the excess, but immediately dry it so that the maximum amount of sparkles sticks and the shine is uniform. I prepare all the deer and put this sheet on the central heating battery. You can also dry it in the air, but the battery will significantly reduce the drying time, 15 minutes will be enough.

When everything is dry, shake off the excess, you can even tap lightly on the back of the figure. I used to stop at this stage, but there was one moment that made me very sad - if you touch the glitter - it remains on your hands and still crumbles a little. After a little experimentation, I developed a small additional stage for myself. It increases the processing time of the glitter die-cutting by about two times, but it's worth it.
Let's prepare necessary tools. I allocated an unnecessary small one for this Plastic container. Pour a little water and dissolve in it the same glue that was used to glue it. Glue from one brush will be enough. Thoroughly stir and coat our workpieces. And again dry on the battery.

As a result, we will get wonderful shiny cuttings! So elegant and so elegant. And most importantly - now these sparkles will not stay on your hands and drive everyone at home crazy! :)

And some of my work for an example using glitter:

Use of tinsel

If you are seriously thinking about how to make glitter at home, then we can advise you to use sharp scissors and New Year's tinsel. You can buy packages of direct rain, as in the photo below, or you can use terry garlands, old decorations that no longer look on the Christmas tree. You can use any shiny products.

Before you make small sparkles at home, you need to put a sheet of clean paper on the table, take a pack of even rain and hold it tightly in your left hand. Then with scissors, retreating 1-2 mm from the edge, cut into small squares.

Such small sequins can be made in different colors. Chop golden trimmings on one paper, silvery ones on the other, if necessary, cut colored ones as well.

Application of small glitter

Many girls use small sequins for manicure. The cut squares are mixed with varnish and smeared on nail plate. You can do it differently. First, a layer of varnish of the main color is applied, then the nails are sprinkled with sparkles, the excess is shaken off back onto a sheet of paper. Then a layer of colorless varnish is smeared over the sparkles so that the pieces do not fall off.

If you know how to make glitter at home, you can make your own Christmas tree decorations. It can be figures of Santa Claus and Snow Maiden, cardboard crafts animals, stars or bells. Any toy will look beautiful if you add sparkles cut from tinsel to its surface. Doing it is simple. The finished toy is coated with PVA glue and sprinkled with sparkles. Pressing down a little with your hand, shake off the excess back onto the table.

You can decorate attributes to New Year's holiday- a crown for a princess, a kokoshnik for a girl in Russian national costume, headdress snow queen or Snow Maiden.

Multi-colored foil sequins

Made of thin and crispy foil different colors You can cut glitter into any shape. For example, we will tell the reader how to make heart-shaped sparkles at home. Buy red foil, fold it in several layers and cut out the shape of a heart.

It turns out many elements at once. Such details can be used for pasting, for example, “valentines” for Valentine's Day, decorating a wedding album or Christmas tree decorations made of papier-mâché or cardboard. For boys, small Christmas trees or blue cars can be cut out of green foil.

Figured hole punchers

Now on sale there are special hole punchers that punch holes of various shapes. You can buy a whole kit for cutting different figures. If you don’t know how to make glitter at home, then purchasing such convenient devices will solve the problem in no time.

Figured hole punchers can also be used in the manufacture of paper crafts. Children love to stick small details made with the help of such machines in the appliqué.

This is much more convenient than hand-cutting some kind of figure. For example, you are unlikely to be able to cut the stars evenly, but you can squeeze out a whole pack with a hole punch in a minute.

Simple hole punch

There is one more a good option how to make glitter at home. This is cutting beautiful even circles from multi-colored foil with a simple hole punch. The material is thin, so you can fold the sheets in several layers. It will turn out pretty quickly to cut the zhmenu circles.

With such brilliant confetti you can decorate toys on the Christmas tree. To do this, take a plain or transparent ball and coat it with PVA glue. It remains only to sprinkle it with shiny circles and hang it by a thread to dry.

You can stick a garland of flags on a thread with your child and sprinkle each flag with sparkles. After you hang it on the wall or under the ceiling, the flags will sparkle beautifully in the light of the lamps.

Shards of glass toys

If you have not yet decided how to make sparkles at home, then we can offer a tried and tested by many Soviet women option. They take an old Christmas tree toy, but always a glass one (you can always find a cracked or beaten one in a box with toys) and, putting it in a tight plastic bag, beat it with a hammer into the dust. Then you can use such small sparkles in the manufacture of papier-mâché toys.

How to make glitter from a CD?

To make shiny colorful balls for a Christmas tree or to decorate a room, you can use old unnecessary CDs. They need to be carefully broken into small pieces, you can also break them with a hammer or use pliers.

Then each piece is smeared with glue and attached to the ball. The product reflects light rays well, as it has a mirror surface. If such a ball hangs on a branch of a Christmas tree, then the lights of the garland will sparkle even brighter.

Salt glitter

In the end, we will look at how to make sequins from salt crystals ourselves. For this work, you need a kilogram of coarse table salt. It is advisable to choose a salt so that the crystals are shiny. To paint salt in different colors, you can use either simple watercolor paints Or buy food coloring. You can also use and natural dyes, taking the juice of beets or carrots, using brilliant green or potassium permanganate.

For each color, pick up a bag or any other container. The dishes can stain along with the salt, so it's best to buy tight bags.

Dyes are dissolved in water, watercolors are also prepared by adding water. Then a small amount of coloring liquid is poured into the bag and the bag is shaken well so that all the salt crystals are colored. Then the bag is opened so that there is air access and the salt dries out. After complete drying, the salt can be poured into containers convenient for crafts and used for decoration. New Year's toys on holiday.

In the article, we talked in detail about all the methods for making sparkles at home. It is not difficult to do it yourself, the main thing is to want. Successful work!
