It must be drawn taking into account the fact that there will also be a lid covering the future clutch (27 x 5 cm in size). The lid can be made rectangular, triangular or rounded.

Then a second rectangle is drawn (of the same size as the first, i.e. 27 x 10 cm, but without a lid). This will be the front of the clutch.

Next, the two parts are folded with their faces to each other. Stepping back about 2.5 mm from the edge, holes are pierced with an awl. On them, the parts are sewn together with a strong thread with a simple seam in one direction. Then the parts are stitched in the opposite direction.

Two parts of the fastener or button are fixed to the front and the cover. They are needed to close the clutch.

The clutch is ready. It can be decorated at your discretion with decorations, a bow, figurines, flowers or a simple strap.

For such a handbag-purse you will need: the material itself, the fabric for the bow, the lock, the fabric for the pocket, the sealant.

First, a clutch pattern is made. You need to cut out two parts: the front and back parts of the future product, one pocket part, two parts of a bow and a bow strap.

First, two parts of the strap for the middle of the bow are sewn. Then the details of the bow are sewn with the front sides inward. Then the part must be turned out. The finished bar is put on a bow.

A sealant and a pocket are applied to the main material of the future product. The finished bow is sewn onto the front of the clutch. Next, a lock is taken and sewn between parts of the main fabric. Then the clutch is stitched on the sides and turned inside out.

Some time ago, I was ordered to do a master class on sewing an everyday clutch. And only now, after a certain amount of time, I can post the work on my personal sewing blog.

Here we go? How to sew a clutch - photo master class with explanations.

Materials and tools:

1. Main fabric;
2. Lining fabric;
3. Flap, natural trimming or faux leather(leatherette, dermantin) for decoration in the form of a flower;

4. 3 pieces of finished oblique inlay (1.5 cm wide) from leatherette:
- 37 cm long for the handle
- 6 cm long for attaching a ring;
- 21 cm long for edging a clutch.

All of the above details of paragraph 4. at your discretion, you can cut out from the main fabric, use a bias trim, grosgrain ribbon or strips of leather.

5. Dense woven adhesive pad - dublirin, interlining or collar dublirin;
6. Magnetic button, handle sewing ring.

Operating procedure

Paragraph 1

Pattern-scheme of a clutch. Sizes can be varied according to your wishes.

According to the scheme, cut out 1 part of the clutch from the main and lining fabrics, not forgetting to leave allowances for the seams (1-1.5 cm each around the entire perimeter).

Point 2

Reinforce the main part of the clutch with a glue pad from the wrong side. At this stage, you can strengthen the top with a padding polyester. But in my case, the gasket is a dense hard dublirin, and therefore I did not use a synthetic winterizer here.

Point 3

Magnetic button, placed on the lining fabric. To install a magnetic button, it is necessary to strengthen the upper part of the valve with a gasket. To do this, you need to mark the place where the button is attached, not forgetting about the allowances for the seams.

Cut small holes with a ripper. Insert magnetic button. Bend the "tongues" of metal in different directions.

Item 4

Cut out 2 pieces of the inner pocket from the lining fabric. The dimensions of the pocket can be completely arbitrary. You can sew a clutch without any inside pockets at all. When cutting, I proceeded from the size of my cell phone.

Fold 2 parts right sides inward, stitch along the contour, leaving a small opening for eversion. Trim seam allowances close to the seam.

Turn the part out, iron it, make a stitch along the contour.

Sew the pocket symmetrically to the lining part.

Item 5

Fold the parts of the clutch with the right sides inward, chop with pins.

Insert between them a piece of leather with a ring, folded in half.

Sew along three sides, leaving the bottom unsewn.

Turn right side out, steam through damp cheesecloth, lining up all seams. Outer side:

The part that remained unsewn should be edged with an oblique leather (or fabric) trim.

Item 6

Fold the blank for the clutch, sew the sides together with a single line and make the stitching of the valve.

Item 7

Put the second part of the magnetic button. To more accurately determine the place of attachment of the button, it is advisable to put something inside the clutch for volume. And only then mark the place for the button. On the wrong side, I close the place where the button is attached by manually sewing a rectangular patch of lining fabric with blind stitches.

The clutch is almost ready, it remains only to embellish it a little.

Item 8

Thread the strap into the ring, sew. The length of the strap can be any, according to your desires.

Both parts of the product are combined with the wrong side inward. Now, using a hole punch or an awl, symmetrical holes should be made in the blanks around the perimeter of the main part of the clutch.

It is necessary to make punctures slightly stepping back from the edge of the parts (3-4 mm). Now you can easily flash the handbag through the holes already made. The line is fixed from the inside, after which the seam is repeated in the opposite direction.

A half ring is attached to a thin and short leather strip on one side, and with the other end it is sewn to the edge of the clutch. Now it remains to attach a carabiner with a thin strap to the half-ring and insert the clasp into the lid. A minimalistic and quite brutal leather clutch is ready.

How to sew a leather clutch with your own hands

Such a thing is sewn in a similar way, like a clutch from an old bag. Only the part under the valve is made triangular. From a piece of fabric, you can create a handbag of the desired size.

Evening clutch

For sewing an evening clutch, a paper pattern is used - for the main part of the product and for the side insert. In it, the dimensions of the parts are increased by one centimeter, which is necessary for the seam.

According to the same pattern, the details of the walls are cut out: outer fabric, interlining, synthetic winterizer, lining, sealant.

Everything is the same, except for the seal, cut out for the side inserts. Accordingly, there should be two elements.

Details intended for the front side of the future clutch are glued with interlining. The glued parts are sewn together with the padding polyester along the cuts, then quilted in any shape, but in such a way that the line matches the pattern on the fabric.
The seam seal is shortened by 1.5 cm, then cut off along the top line. After that, you can carefully remove the protective film and stick it on the quilted wall. After that, the lining is sewn: on the main part - along the oval line of the valve, on the inserts - along straight sections.
Now you need to unscrew the product and sweep out the oval edge of the valve by making cuts. After that, perform the finishing line. It remains to tuck and manually hem the top line.

All remaining sections are connected by one line. The place where the fastener will be must be flashed twice. Then the button will not spoil the handbag every time you open and close it. Then you can already sew the fastener itself.
The one-piece piece is connected to the side inserts. In this case, the lining must be unscrewed. The seams turn towards the inserts and hide under the lining, securing them with blind stitches.

Accessory can be added beautiful flower. It's not hard at all to make it:

Cut out two strips 90 cm long and 9 cm wide.
They are folded in half and stitched, leaving a gap through which it will be convenient to turn the part out.
One corner of the resulting tape must be unscrewed and secured with a stitch.
Then the petals are formed by turning the tape at a right angle, securing the turns with stitches.
The flower will look beautiful on the valve in place of the fastener.

Stylish model with a bow: master class

Another beautiful and simple model- a small bag with a bow. By consistently completing all the points of the plan, you can with my own hands create a stylish accessory. For a handbag, you need to prepare a piece of fabric for the front side.

It is better to use a thick fabric so that you do not need to use seals. Another piece is needed for the lining.

The bag will consist of the following items:

2 parts of 25x15 cm - the main part of the handbag;
2 parts 27.5x15.5 each - bow;
1 piece 36x8.5 cm - handle;
1 detail 5x12.5 cm - the middle of the bow;
2 pieces of 25x15 cm - lining.

It is more convenient to start with a bow:

We fold the piece of fabric intended for the middle of the bow as in the photo.
Then, at each edge, we perform a line.
We connect the edges, right side to the front.
We turn the ends in different directions, iron the seam and turn it inside out.

Now let's move on to the handle:

Fold the strip of fabric in half lengthwise and iron.
Then we unfold and fold, but with both edges to the center, and again in half.
After that, iron again and sew on a typewriter.
We connect the ends and sew.

Let's get back to the bow:

We fold both parts face to face and connect them on the sides.
We turn the resulting "sleeve" on the front side and iron it.
Carefully collect the folds of the bow and thread through the middle.

We take the main part and apply the bow at the desired level.
In this case, it is necessary to pay attention that the bow is slightly longer than the main part of the clutch, because the decoration should look voluminous.
We pin the bow on the sides, combining the edges with the main part.
We are sewing.
Then sew a handle at the top edge of the bow.

Lightning:

We sew one half of the zipper face to face with the front of the future accessory, the second with the back.
Then, using a zipper foot, we sew a line on both parts, close to the fastener.
