Knitting boomerang heels - a detailed description and methods ✂. How to knit a boomerang heel using a video master class

Today, as promised, I will tell you how to knit a boomerang heel in a children's sock.

True, at first adult socks with a boomerang heel appeared in my performance. I wanted to give these socks, knitted with an ornament of lazy patterns. The gift did not happen for two reasons:

  • the heel was knitted with mistakes, on which we will learn today;

You see, my heel turned out, in a “herringbone”, broaches from double loops, “popped out” not on the inside, but on the face.

True, there are no holes, but the son comforted, which turned out to be quite decorative. I did not believe him, but the thought that the view at the heel could be more decent was very annoying.

  • in addition, it turned out that my candidate for a gift has a rather narrow leg with a not small 38th leg size, and the girth of the leg on the bone is average, but the foot is narrow.

I knitted the way I used to always do it after the heel, did not decrease, and the socks turned out to be too wide. I had to keep them for myself, which I do not regret at all. I happily run around the house in them, instead.

After that, I knitted a few more models of heels and finished with a small sock, the heel of which I finally liked.

Knitting a boomerang heel differs from the traditional one in that the fabric of the heel and the shape itself is obtained using partial knitting. The appearance of such a heel is more accurate. I think that it is more suitable for children's socks or socks with openwork patterns. But if you want to knit a thick ski sock or just warm socks that you will use instead of slippers, it is better to knit the heel in the usual way, with knitting the canvas, descent, arrows, etc.

Although, all this, of course, is a matter of taste and you choose.

I liked the fact that now I can knit the heels of the sock in three ways (in addition to the above, I also knit socks on the bias, but I will talk about this in detail if it is interesting).

So, knitting heels "boomerang".

We do the beginning of the sock, as usual. I knitted a small sock on 24 loops.

  • Set of loops 24. Distribute on 4 knitting needles (4x6).
  • Toe board 12 rows, elastic band 2x2
  • Pagolenok - from the side to the heel 14 rows (I increased it in comparison with the toe described earlier).

  • We transfer the loops from the first and second knitting needles to one. We knit the heel on half of all the loops of the sock.
  • 1 row (front) - we knit all 12 loops with front ones, turn the work 2 row (purl) - we place the working thread behind the first loop, on the left knitting needle, holding the working thread and the first loop, remove them together without knitting on right needle, tighten them tightly and also tightly, holding the removed loop with a crochet, we knit the next loop from the wrong side. Purl all other stitches of this row.

At the beginning of the row, a double loop turned out. We remove the loop with a crochet, strictly as in the photo, otherwise the heel pattern may be distorted. 3 row (front) we remove the first loop with a crochet, as described for the second row, tighten it tightly, we knit all the loops with facial ones, except for the double at the end of the row. 10 loops are knitted on the needles and 2 double loops are located at the beginning and end of the row. (The meaning of knitting these double loops is that they prevent the formation of holes in the heel from the loops removed in partial knitting). 4th row, and repeat all subsequent ones in the same way until there are four double loops on the needles at the edges and 4 loops in the middle. Those. we knit like this until a third of single loops (without crochets) remain on the knitting needles. This is how it will look:
I had 12 heel loops and knitted until 4 loops remained. (If there were 20 loops, I would knit until there were 6 double loops and 8 single loops on the sides.)

Similar to how the heel drop was calculated before.

Thus, for the first half of the boomerang heel, we knitted 8 rows in partial knitting. Next, we move on to circular knitting and make 2-3 circles, while knitting double loops together with the front one very diligently, I even “twitched” these loops so that they lie more evenly.

    • 1 row (front): we knit 4 side loops on the right, 4 loops in the middle and one loop from the sidewall on the left, i.e. only 9 loops. All facial. Knitting turn

    • 2 row (wrong side): remove the first loop from working thread, (the photo clearly shows that there are three loops left on the sidewall).

we make a double loop, tighten it well, then we knit the second loop very tightly, the remaining 3 loops of the middle and one loop from the sidewall are purl. Those. in the second row, remove one double and knit five purl.

    • 3 row (front) We remove the first loop with a crochet, we knit 4 loops of the middle, we knit (evenly and carefully) a double loop of the previous row of the front and one more front from the sidewall.
    • 4th row (wrong side) we remove the first loop with a working thread, - we make a double loop, then we knit 5 loops and the next loop from the sidewall.

So we knit eight rows until 12 single loops remain on the knitting needle again.

(If we worked with 20 heel loops, then we would knit 12 rows in order to capture 6 six loops from each of the two sidewalls).

As you can see, knitting the second half of the boomerang heel is similar to knitting the first, but the difference is. that first we reduce the number of loops in the middle of the heel, and then increase them.

Here is a knitting heel boomerang turned out.

And this, for comparison, is a sock knitted with the same threads,

the same size, but with a traditional heel. Which one do you like more?

Write in the comments whether the description is clear and whether it is necessary to specify separately how to knit socks for a narrow and long foot.

With respect to knitters and sympathizers,

At knitted socks the heel can be performed in various ways. One variant heel knitted knitting needles socks is boomerang heel. How to knit socks with such a heel with knitting needles will be discussed in this article.

To help you learn the process, of course, a video on how to knit such products will be provided. It is the boomerang heel that makes the sock look the most similar to the factory version.

To knit the heel of the boomerang, use a sock yarn consisting of wool and polyamide 75% and 25% respectively. We will use knitting needles (stocking) number 2.5. Knitting will be carried out on 32 loops. We will form the heel with short rows.

Please note that the heel knitted thus shorter and somewhat smaller than the others. The number of loops when you start knitting and when you finish it will be the same. This means that up to 2 cm from the heel, it is necessary to increase the number of elements so that a wedge of instep can be formed. However, you should not pay attention to this if the owner of the future sock has a low leg instep.

Step-by-step description of knitting boomerang heels

First of all, you should tie the top of the sock to the desired length, and then set aside two of the four tools to continue the main process on the remaining two. In this case, exactly half of the loops cast on the product initially will be used.

Knitting a heel from a toe

The previous description of the sock is suitable for those options when knitting begins with a leg. But the heel of the boomerang is just as wonderfully done in the opposite direction, when the work is done from the toe.

In this case, the sole is made on the first and fourth needles, and the upper part on the second and third. And to create a toe, elements are not reduced as usual, but added.

I must say that here at the end it is better not to close the edge, but to sew it up with a needle that does not have a point.

Almost all women who are fond of needlework have knitted warm socks at least once in their lives. This type of hobby not only allows you to relax your soul, but also to please your loved ones, surprising beautiful gift. Many craftswomen are wondering how the boomerang heel is knitted, since it is this type of heel that has a neat and presentable appearance.

Learning to knit a boomerang heel

To knit socks, it is better to take yarn with a single-color woolen thread. For a long service life of the sock, it is recommended to take threads that contain synthetics.
In order for socks with a boomerang heel to come out correctly, you should calculate the knitting density. If you use yarn of different thicknesses, then the number of loops per 10 cm of the product can have a strong difference.

Boomerang heel

This knitting method is one of the most popular. The heel is comfortable and hugs the foot. In addition, it is well suited for knitting children's socks.
This knitting traditional method differs in that the heel canvas and itself appearance, comes out with the help of partial knitting more accurate. Although it is up to you to decide whether to knit a boomerang heel or use a traditional technique.

Step-by-step description of knitting boomerang heels

You need to start knitting after the top of the sock with the cuffs are ready.

Detailed step-by-step instruction- Master Class.

Beginning of heel knitting

Knitting ended in the middle of 1 and 4 knitting needles. The contrasting thread must be tied. There are 9 inversions on each needle. The heel will be performed on 1 and 4 knitting needles. We knit the front loops from 1 to 4. Thus, on the 4th knitting needle there will be loops from both knitting needles. In total, there should be 18 of them. These 18 ears will be the basis. Next, knit with 4 knitting needles, it will be more convenient. Three knitting needles are located in the sock, and 4 are used for knitting.

We turn the front wall of the knitting. Now the knitting process will take place on the wrong side of the fabric. The first bend is removed as a purl, the thread before work, the knitting needle was inserted into the loop and removed. Then the thread needs to be thrown over the work and tightened strongly, we make it double.

In the next step, all remaining twists are knitted behind the front wall until the end of the needle. It turns out 1 double loop and 17 wrong ears. The wrong side bend after a double twist must be knitted tightly.

Boomerang heel with knitting needles

You should turn the knitting again. Remove the first loop and convert it to the front, the thread is at work, the knitting needle is inserted into the inversion and removed. After that, the working thread is thrown over to itself and strongly pulled up. We remove the bend and make it double.

The further knitting process using the boomerang method is carried out with all other bends, that is, the front ones behind the back wall to the double loop.
Double edge loops will not be tied. They should pile up on the spoke. We reached a double bend, then we turn the knitting wall. The first loop is made double, then knitting is carried out, relative to the pattern, to a double eyelet and turns again.

The knitting needle should accumulate 18 twists that have been connected to 2 needles. They are divided into 3 parts.
The bend of the threads of 18 pieces is divided into 3 parts, 6 loops for each. There should be 6 double loops on each side, and in the middle there will be connected 6 single loops.
When a number cannot be divided without a remainder, then it must be added to the middle.

For example, I made 22 ears with 2 needles, 7 pieces come out on each side and 8 single ones in the middle, divided into 3 parts. If the principle is clear, you can start knitting.

Mid heel

Next, a circular row is knitted, in the amount of two. The ears remain in this order for a while. In a circle, half the heel is knitted with 5 needles.
It is necessary to knit double bends on the left side - the front ones behind the front wall. Then the needle is inserted into a double loop, 2 threads of the loop must be knitted.

The knitting of heel loops from 2 and 3 needles behind the front wall continues, it is important not to forget that they take part only in circular knit. The circle ends with ears with 4 needles. The twists are knitted on the back side.

Final stage

Knit the heel with the boomerang method using 4 knitting needles. The canvas needs to be turned over. In the wrong side, remove 1 bend and make it a double edge loop. Then all middle twists are knitted. There should be 6 of them. Therefore, in the purl row, the first double loop and 5 purl ears are knitted behind the front wall.

The knitting of the boomerang heel needs to be turned. Remove one front loop and make double. Knit facial curves to a double loop. Then the double ear is knitted behind the front wall, pulling it up well. The next inversion behind it is knitted front behind the front wall.

Turn the side of the canvas over again, performing the same manipulations all the time as before. When the bends of the threads decrease on one of the needles, they can again be evenly distributed and tied with 5 needles. There must be 9 eyes on the needle.

You can also tie heel tracks using a crochet hook.

Boomerang heel wedge instep

Many needlewomen love to knit the heel using the boomerang method. However, this type of heel has the disadvantage that a wedge is not made during knitting. Without a wedge, socks on the leg do not sit comfortably. But not everyone knows that you can connect the heel of a boomerang with a wedge of instep.
Loops are cast along these edges, added to the heel loops that are on the knitting needle.
Then the wedge of the heel lift is knitted to reduce the extra loops of the foot.

  1. It is necessary to knit 20 loops straight
  2. Turn knit
  3. Yarn over
  4. It is not necessary to make the yarn over and the subsequent buttonhole very loose so that at the end the heel has a neat appearance.
  5. Knit 6 purl stitches
  6. Turn the knit over, yarn over and knit 6 stitches.
  7. There is a yarn over at the end of the wedge on the left needle.
  8. It is necessary to knit 2 front loops, placing the front loop from the left knitting needle on top of the yarn.
  9. Flip the fabric over, yarn over.
  10. Knit straight with purl buttonholes, yarn over on the left needle.
  11. Run it and the loop following it on the wrong side.
  12. Repeat the process until 6 loops are formed on the needles. The width of the wedge will be 22 loops.
  13. The straight part of the heel is knitted, with the formation of a straight wall.

The boomerang process is carried out until all the loops on the sides are reduced.

Toe socks with boomerang heel

Knitting heel sock boomerang passes stockinette stitch. The procedure is to decrease the loops as follows:

  • Knit 3 and 2 bend from the end of 1 and 3 knitting needles together with the front
  • 2 and 3 buttonholes with 2 and 4 knitting needles together with a broach

The decrease data for knitting socks from the toe with the boomerang heel is repeated until 8 inversions remain on the knitting needles.
Pull the last 8 ears with a double thread or sew the heel.

heel boomerang german way

Knitting the boomerang heel in the German way takes place with the execution of the front loops. Before the knitting process, you need to mentally divide the number of ears on which the heel will be performed - central and 2 lateral.
The boomerang heel knitting technique will look like this:

  1. First, transfer all knitting inversions to one knitting needle, and knit one row together with the front loops.
  2. Turn the canvas over, remove the first bend. To make a double loop out of it, you will need to bring the working thread to the back of the knit and tighten it tightly. As a result, the bend on the knitting needle will pull the insoles under it.
  3. We knit one row with purl twists. Then you need to turn the work over, remove the first ear and make a double one out of it.
  4. One row is knitted. The last double buttonhole is not knitted. Knitting is turned over, a double bend is made and one row is knitted in the wrong way.
  5. Each time you will need to knit one less ear. Repetitions are performed until all the inversions that were located on the side parts become double. The loops in the center should remain intact.
  6. Then you need to make 2 circular rows in all inversions. The slope of the double loops made together should be directed towards the central part.
  7. We knit the first row of the central part using the front loops. The fabric is turned over, a double bend is made and 2 rows are knitted with the ears inside out.
  8. The third row is again knitted with front inversions to double loops, and it is done together with the front with a slope to the right. 1 front buttonhole is made and the work is turned over.
  9. The first double eye in the 4th row is knitted together with the purl over the back walls. At the end of the purl row, 1 bend is performed.
  10. 3rd and 4th rows alternate. After knitting all the ears, the extreme loops on the sides will be doubled. They will need to be knitted in the next row in a circle.

Today we will figure out how to knit a boomerang toe heel. I would call its key features the most “industrial” type of sock (however, a lot depends on the chosen method of knitting loops in short rows) and the fact that this heel is smaller, shorter than others, which should be taken into account when knitting a sock in general. Since the number of loops in the work before the start of knitting the heel and after the completion of work on it is equal, this should be taken into account and the required number of loops should be added 2-3 cm before the heel, which then forms a lifting wedge. If the leg lift is low, this can be neglected.

For work, I use Opal HANDWERK & HOBBY sock yarn (75% superwas wool, 25% polyamide, 425 m / 100 gr.) And 13 cm carbonized bamboo stocking needles # 2.5. For socks, this length is even more comfortable than I'm used to. V Lately 15 cm - even less hand movements, even faster knitting. The sock in my case is knitted on 64 loops. Knitting in short rows was considered in the lesson on the toe heel with a wedge, in case of difficulties with the implementation of short rows, you can refresh your memory by re-reading.

Tie the cuff and legging to the desired height.

If you think it is necessary, make increments in the required amount, so that later you form a wedge for lifting the foot (increments are marked with green arrows in the photo).

Important!!! I added 5 stitches on each side. These loops do not participate in the formation of the heel, it is knitted on 32 loops (half of the loops of the total of 64 loops).

Then we begin to form the heel itself - in short rows.
Knit 31 stitches.

We turn knitting and make a crochet.

Purl, do not knit 1 loop to the end of the row ...

We turn knitting, we make a crochet. We knit to the end of the row, again we do not knit 1 loop to the end of the row.

On the sides of knitting, we form ladders from yarn and removed loops:

We continue to work until the middle, straight part becomes equal to 1/3 of all the loops assigned to the heel. In my case, these are 10 loops out of 32.

Next, we knit 2 rows of facial loops, while in the first row we knit the removed loops together with the crochets. On the left - placing the loop left from the yarn over over the yarn to avoid forming a hole (see the green arrow in the photo, the photos are traditionally clickable):

If you did everything correctly and accurately, as a result, knitted loops and yarns knitted in pairs will look like this:

On the other hand, we knit in a row the front over the crochet, the knitted loops look like this:

After a row with decreases and a row of facial loops, we perform the second half of the heel. We knit the central 10 loops, at the end we turn the knitting and make a crochet.

We knit the wrong side, at the end we turn and make a crochet. We knit the front row, at the end of which we place a loop from the left knitting needle over the yarn over, we knit them together with the front one, turn the knitting and make a yarn over.

At the end of the purl row, we knit the yarn over with the purl loop from the left knitting needle so that the yarn is on the wrong side of the work:

We turn knitting, we make a crochet.

Almost all girls and women who are fond of needlework have knitted warm woolen socks at least once in their lives. This is not only a way to pamper yourself in winter, but also a nice gift for loved ones, made with soul. Many craftswomen are interested in the question - how to knit a boomerang heel on their own in a lesson, because it is this type of heel that looks as neat and presentable as possible.

Single color wool thread the best choice yarn for knitting socks. It is good if synthetics are also present in the composition, so the product will last longer. When choosing knitting needles, you should focus on the thickness of the yarn. Crochet socks and boomerang heel are not usually done, so you need to learn how to use knitting needles.

How to knit a boomerang heel: the traditional way and others

The first method is traditional and the most common. Below is step by step master class with photos of the process.

Step one. Boomerang heel knitting should be started after the cuffs and bootleg are ready. The basis of such a heel is the so-called partial knitting. Start knitting "boomerang" should be with shortened rows. In the first row it is necessary to knit thirty-one facial loops.

Step two. Turn knitting over, yarn over, then purl the next row.

The row must not be knitted to the end, but leave one loop on the knitting needle.

Step three. Knitting should be turned over again, yarn over and knit a row with facial loops. Leave one last loop in the same way.

Thus, the knitting of the heel gradually narrows, acquiring the shape of a trapezoid. On vertical knitting needles, the removed loops should change yarns.

Knit until there are ten stitches left on the working knitting needle.

Step four. Knit one round. Removed loops and crochets must be knitted together. To achieve a uniform knitting density, it is recommended to place the loop over the crochet before knitting. The loops of the circular row should be facial. After that, you need to knit another circular row. Nakida need to be placed under the facial loops, and knit them together. Half of the "boomerang" is ready.

Step five. The second half of the heel, of course, should be symmetrical. The central ten loops are knitted with facial loops.

Step six. Turn the knitting over, make a crochet, knit a row with facial loops.

Step seven. Repeat steps five and six. Throws and loops at the end of the rows must be knitted together. It is important to pay attention to the fact that the yarn at the end of the back row, when knitting it, is on the wrong side of the heel. Continue knitting until there are thirty-two loops on the needles. After that, you need to knit the boomerang heel in circular rows.

The heel called "boomerang" is made. The heel, made with this technique, looks very elegant.

German way.

Below is a description of another boomerang heel knitting technique called "German". It differs from the previous method in the use of double loops. Knitting is done with facial loops. Before starting work, mentally divide the number of loops on which the boomerang heel is knitted into three parts (two side and one central part). Below are two diagrams that will be needed in the process.

Now you can start.

  1. To begin with, it is worth transferring all the knitting loops to one knitting needle. Knit one row with facial loops.
  2. Turn knitting over, slip the first loop. In order to make a double thread out of it, it is necessary to bring the thread with which the work is performed to the back side of the canvas and tighten it as tightly as possible. As a result, the loop on the knitting needle should pull the walls of the loop under it.
  3. Knit one row with purl stitches. Turn the work over again, remove the first loop and make a double loop out of it in the manner described in the previous paragraph.
  4. Knit one row. The last, double loop does not need to be knitted. Turn knitting over, make a double loop and knit one row with purl loops. Now the last two double loops do not need to be knitted.
  5. In each next row, therefore, it will be necessary to knit one loop less. Repeat the steps until all the loops of the two side pieces that were determined before starting work are double. The hinges of the central part must remain in place.
  6. Next, you should make two circular rows in all loops (including in the upper part of the foot). The slope of the double loops knitted together should be directed towards the center.
  7. Knit the first row of the second part of the "boomerang" with facial loops. Turn the fabric over, make a double loop and knit the second row with purl loops.
  8. Knit the third row again with knit to double loops, and knit it with an inclination to the right along with the front. Make one front loop and, as usual, turn the sock over.
  9. In the fourth row, knit the first double loop together with the purl loop behind the back walls and perform one purl loop.
  10. Alternate the third and fourth rows. When all the loops of the boomerang heel are knitted, the extreme loops on each side should be double. They will need to be knitted in the next circular row.
  11. Continue knitting in circular rows.

The knitting of the German boomerang heel is completed!
