Vase from a bottle with your own hands. Beautiful vases from plastic bottles How to make a vase from a plastic bottle step by step

The first association that occurs to us when we hear about bottle vases- This is a cut plastic container in which, in the absence of a real one, flowers can temporarily stand at work or at home. But those examples that you will see in our today's article prove that objects can be obtained from improvised material to decorate any interior, in which it is not a shame to put the most expensive bouquet.

Vase from a bottle

Use for interior decoration a vase from a bottle- this is new fashion trend for all lovers of home design. Moreover, the bottles used are transparent, glass, with a wide neck, which most often contained dairy products before. This trend came to us along with the fashion for environmentally friendly materials and the rejection of the premium food segment from plastic packaging. And then it’s just a pity to just throw away these glass bottles, because they can serve you faithfully for many more years.

A special chic is the design of flower arrangements with the help of containers of various sizes and shapes. So each flower looks individually, not like the others. An example of such fashion design you can find in magazines dedicated to fashion design, moreover, which is important for the application of such bottle vase, photo which you can see above, that in this case no refinement is required for glass products, and they, exactly the same as they once left the assembly line, will become an integral part of the modern interior.

But if it's not about modern style, but, for example, if we , then it’s much better to decorate after all glass surface giving it a new texture or color. After all, in those days of domination classic styles, in the interiors of rural houses in Provence, glass was quite a valuable material, unlike ceramics, and was used very rarely. Therefore, any transparent base must be brought to an ideal appearance, decorated. This can be done in various ways, some of which we will talk about. The simplest for beginners can be the application method, moreover, it uses such affordable material as woolen threads or twine.

Working with glass, when glue is used as a bonding material, should always include preparatory stage degreasing. This is done in order to improve grip on slippery surfaces and make both the adhesive layer and the paint layer smoother, and the life of such a coating is longer. For degreasing, it is enough to wipe the glass with any liquid that contains alcohol, starting with cologne or nail polish remover and ending with alcoholic beverages. After that, you should immediately start the process of decorating. In this case, for the task how to make a vase from a bottle, twine is used. Its tip is glued at the bottom of the container, then glue is applied over the entire surface a few centimeters in height and a string of twine is wound neatly, in one layer. After that, apply glue again and wrap it with decorative material again. When you reach the very top, then hide the tip of the last row on the inner surface of the neck. The twine itself is not very attractive, so for additional decoration you can cover it with colored paint, and you can apply it either with a brush or with a regular kitchen sponge. With such vases will be especially beautiful.

DIY bottle vases

Always look pretty do-it-yourself bottle vases, which are hand-painted with paints, they are covered with patterns and ornaments. Even non-professional artists can handle such work, especially if you first make a sketch and practice.

Of course, not all paints can be used to solve the problem. Special stained glass dyes are ideal, which can be bought not only in specialized paint and varnish stores, but also in children's hobby centers, because creating stained glass windows on a glass surface is a very exciting type of needlework. Such paints differ in that they do not dry perfectly on a glass surface, but their special variety, the so-called contours, are thicker, help to create boundaries beyond which the paint does not flow, forming an even, beautiful layer. This technique helps in working not only with glass, but also with transparent plastic, creating bright ones.

However, you can make your task much easier and preliminarily make one common color as a background, and already on it depict the most simple patterns, all the same, the work will look artful and expensive. You can paint the container both from the inside and outside, the first way is much easier, but in the second case you will get a truly attractive appearance your craft.

Decorating paint can be not only matte or glossy, you can also use unusual textures, such as sparkles. You can see the visual embodiment of such an idea in the photo above. If you didn’t manage to find the paint with the specified parameters initially, then you can use the sparkles separately, spraying them on the painted surface before it has had time to dry. In this case, you should pour the sequins themselves in a thick enough layer, generous handfuls, so that all the sequins that can stick do it. All the rest, which will remain on pre-layed paper, you can collect and apply on a vase of a different shade. So that later the sparkles do not crumble, you can cover the entire surface of the craft with transparent varnish (often hairspray is even used for this purpose), after which you can safely pick it up and install it in the room. Bright, unusual items will be one of.

In addition to paint, colored stickers will also look great, which cover the transparent bottle in several places, or close completely. If expensive stickers are not affordable for everyone, then you can buy adhesive tape with a pattern and use it as the main material for decorating glass or plastic products.

DIY bottle vase

In addition to the fact that the glass surface can be covered with patterns or use the technique of appliqué, decoupage and other things, you can also experiment with the shape, and not just with the shade of the surface. To do this, you will need a glass cutter and the skill to work with such a tool. The main goal that is pursued with such a modification is to make in do-it-yourself azu from a bottle, which at first glance you can’t say that it was made with the help of improvised consumables. On the contrary, such crafts can stand on a par with expensive designer decor elements.

As an example of the work we talked about above, we can cite the following photo. In this case, while maintaining the overall height of the original product, it is reformatted so that small flowers or ampelous plants will look great inside. However, due to the fact that the long neck is immersed in the lower half, you can also place medium-sized flowers inside, the stem diameter of which will be quite thin.

And in the next example, which already considers the manufacture of a vase from plastic bottles, we see how the same initial form can be transformed, creating new, interesting combinations, and these ideas are enough for a whole plastic service. Moreover, due to the fact that working with plastic is easier and safer than with glass, such ideas can be easily implemented in that, or organize your own hanging gardens in the country.

Vase from a plastic bottle

Varieties look very elegant vases from plastic bottle , which are made in the technique of cutting. The patterns on their surface are voluminous, openwork, reminiscent of lace fabric rather than banal plastic. The only drawback is that such a technique is not so easy to master, however, like any other, when it comes to creating real artistic value. Therefore, we can only admire examples of such works, or, with a great desire, master carving master classes, starting with those to learn how to repeat such masterpieces ourselves.

It's good that there are ways to make DIY plastic bottle vase which are much easier to understand even for beginners. For example, like such a cute kitten, which you can repeat by taking a standard container from mineral water. This way of creating crafts is common with the fact that here you also first need to mark the contours of the future figure, cut it out with scissors or a thin knife, and then cover it with a background color and paint it.

It is similar in technique to the creation and manufacture of such a small vase. It can be used not only for storing flowers, but also, for example, for fruits or sweets. It is quite simple to perform it - a plastic neck is cut off, and the remaining even walls are cut into thin vertical strips, not reaching the end at an evenly defined height. Then, with the help of scissors, each strip is bent and decorated with additional decor, whether it be paper butterflies, as in the example above, pebbles, shells.

DIY plastic bottle vases

Even without changing the shape, without cutting out and without covering with paint over the entire surface, you can make unusual and elegant do-it-yourself vases from plastic bottles. A simple trick works here - even if you have a cheap and nondescript base, you need to add interesting decor to it, so that in the end the craft turns out to be attractive.

Thus, in the first example, a container cut off evenly along the upper edge is decorated with an applique of shiny stones. In the same way, you can use flowers made of plastic or clay, lace, rhinestones. And in the second example, after finishing with plastic ribbons, nothing at all reveals the origin of the elegant interior decor.

How to make a glass bottle vase

Ways to decorate glass bottles for wine, beer and other drinks are no less diverse. Despite the fact that their shape is much more difficult to change (the maximum is to cut off the neck), do-it-yourself vases from glass bottles turn out to be much more elegant and interesting. Vases from tall and narrow glass bottles are often used in "sets", placing 1-3 flowers in each of them.

At the same time, home-made vases from cognac and other low bottles can be decorated with beads, shells and act as an independent decorative element.

Unlike plastic containers, a glass bottle vase is usually painted on the inside. The paint is simply poured into bottles, where it spreads freely along the walls. Thanks to this, vases not only receive new color but also retain the glossy shine of the glass.

An exception is the process of painting with an aerosol. It allows you to evenly apply paint on the surface of the glass, without the formation of smears. Use this option if you want to make your own frosted glass bottle vases or give them an ombre effect.

Using stencils or hand painting skills, you can give a beautiful pattern to a bottle vase.

In addition to painting, you can also:

  1. Wrap a glass bottle with thick thread or twine;
  2. Decorate it with ribbons, lace or fabric;
  3. Apply decoupage.

In the following photos you will see examples of such work.

DIY bottle vases - 29 photos with creative ideas updated: December 26, 2016 by: Margarita Glushko

A vase of flowers can cheer you up even on the gloomiest day. Surely, every house has one or more vases, but there are never many of them - it's nice to change and alternate them from time to time, and not use the same one year after year. A wonderful solution to replenish existing stocks is a vase made by hand from plastic bottles.

  1. cheap material (at the same time, the recycling of plastic is also a plus in karma from environmentalists),
  2. ease of manufacture , a wide range of options,
  3. such the vase won't break which is important if you have children, cats or dogs at home.
  4. And also, when one gets bored, you can make a new one, and throw out the previous one without any remorse.

We offer 6 master classes on making a vase at home. You can strictly follow them, or add your own elements, it should turn out beautifully.

Spray-painted vase

Necessary materials:

Step-by-step instruction:

Step 1: Preparing bottles

  • Make sure the bottles are clean.
  • Cut off the top of the bottle.
  • Tape the cut edge with duct tape so that when using the vase, the top edge does not cut the flowers. Make sure it is firmly attached to the bottle.

Step 2: Primer

Prepare the bottle for painting by first applying a coat of primer to it. So the paint will hold better and last longer.

Step 3: Painting

Spray paint from a can onto the bottle and leave to dry completely. Do this procedure outside, or cover the floor with newspapers so as not to get dirty.

ADVICE: If you don't want to make a vase with multiple paint colors (like gold and black as pictured), then first apply one of the colors, let it dry completely, then stick duct tape over the area where you want to add the second color and spray , also leave to dry completely, remove the electrical tape.

Be sure to wait until the first paint is dry, otherwise the duct tape sticker will ruin it, and then they will come off together.

It turns out such wonderful vases!

ATTENTION: If you use bottles made of thicker plastic (from yogurt, for example), then you can not glue the top edge with anything. Trim the top neatly, and if a burr sticks out, just file it a little.

Decoupage vase

Another way to decorate a plastic bottle is to use decoupage napkins. They make it possible to apply a huge range of patterns. Also, as an option, we offer to make this vase hanging.

Necessary materials:

  • napkins for decoupage
  • materials for attaching napkins (brush, glue)
  • scissors
  • decorative ribbon with pom-poms
  • hole puncher
  • glue gun

Step-by-step instruction:

Step 1: Trimming

  • Cut off and discard the top of the bottle, leaving only the bottom.
  • Using decoupage materials, attach your chosen napkin to the bottom of the bottle.

Step 2: Attach the rope

In order for the vase to be hung, a rope must be attached.

  • First, make two holes near the top edge with a hole punch, they should be located diametrically opposite each other.
  • Take a rope of the desired length and tie it to both holes.

Step 3: Pom Pom Ribbon

It remains only to make the final decorative element. Using a hot glue gun, attach the pom-pom string to the top edge of the vase.

All is ready! Hang in your apartment or garden, place flowers inside and enjoy!

Vase from a bottle and threads

This method is suitable for making vases for dried flowers, planters for pots or just baskets. It turns out quite unusual, and it is not at all clear that a plastic bottle was used here.

Necessary materials:

  • wide plastic bottle
  • Knitting

Step-by-step instruction:

Step 1: Trimming

Cut the bottle in half, leaving only the bottom. Cut the sides of the bottom half into an even number of equally sized strips. On them we will weave layers of yarn.

Step 2: Weaving

It is better to use thick yarn, and it looks more beautiful, and weaves faster. Braid the strips through one: the first in front, the next in the back, and so on. Keep going until you reach the top. You can use one color, melange threads, or alternating several different colors.

Step 3: Finishing the top edge

From above, you need to attach a strip of fabric (or braid) so that the edge does not prick and the threads do not fall apart. To do this, first wrap the end of the thread in the middle of the vase under a layer of braided threads, and then sew a fabric strip onto the edge of the vase with large stitches. Now the vase is ready to decorate your home interior!

Set of vases

From small square plastic bottles you can make a whole set of vases. And here you don’t even have to cut anything.

Necessary materials:

  • 6 identical small square plastic bottles
  • Scotch
  • colorful ribbons

Step-by-step instruction:

Step 1: Putting the Bottles Together

Take six identical clean bottles, put them side by side in two rows of three. Now wrap them all together with tape to firmly fix them together.

  • Wrap the design of the bottles with multi-colored ribbons, several levels above each other.
  • Insert a small number of flowers evenly into each bottle to end up with one large bouquet.

Hanging vase in the garden

In plastic bottles, you can not only insert cut flowers, but also grow live plants. We suggest making a small hanging pot that can be attached to a tree in the garden, fence or porch.

Necessary materials:

  • Plastic bottle with thick material (e.g. shampoo, detergent)
  • Utility knife or scissors
  • Marker
  • Hole punch or awl
  • soil and plant

Step-by-step instruction:

Step 1: Trimming

You need to cut the bottle as shown in the photo, not just horizontally. Thus, we leave room for attachment.

Step 2: Hanging Hole

  1. With a hole punch or awl, make a hole on top of the protruding side of the bottle.
  2. Apply with a marker (preferably indelible so that the pattern does not deteriorate after the first rain) patterns on the upper edge of the bottle (or paint completely, to your taste).

Step 3: Plant a plant

It remains only to plant the plant in a newly made pot and attach it to a carnation in the chosen place.

Another variant

We also offer another option, which is done in a similar way.

Here we used two-liter bottles from under the sprite. Since the plastic is thinner than in a shampoo bottle, make two holes for hanging (one may simply not support the weight of a flowerpot with earth). You can also use it as a vase for wildflowers.

Flowerpot

Everyone loves cats (or at least most of them). Decorate your apartment with this cute vase and it will put a smile on your face every time.

Necessary materials:

  • Large plastic bottle (2 liters)
  • Stationery knife
  • Can of white paint
  • Markers (black and light pink)
  • Flowers

Step-by-step instruction:

Step 1: Cleaning the bottle

Remove the label from the plastic bottle, wash it thoroughly (so that there are no traces of sweet water in the middle, no glue from the label on the outside).

Step 2: Mark the place of the drawing

Mark how tall your vase should be and draw a horizontal line around the entire bottle. It should not be too high for the cat to be pretty.

Step 3: Draw the cat

On one side of the bottle over just spent horizontal line draw two ears, as shown in the photo.

Step 4: Cut Out

Now cut out the bottom of the plastic bottle along the outlined outline. Be especially careful with the ears so that they turn out even and the same.

Step 5: Preparing for painting

  • Line the floor with newspapers or boxes to keep from getting dirty while painting.
  • Before painting, you can apply a coat of primer to improve the adhesion of the paint.

Step 6: Painting

Apply to the bottle white paint from a balloon. See that the layer is even, and there are no transparent places left.

Step 7: Draw the cat

Now the most pleasant part: draw a cat. You can copy from the photo or come up with your own.

It remains only to put the flowers in a vase, it is low, so a small bouquet of short cut flowers will do. You can also fill in the soil and plant a houseplant.

Look how beautiful it turns out, I am completely delighted with this vase!

Vase with a muzzle

A funny vase or pot with a muzzle will add cheerful notes to the home atmosphere.

Necessary materials:

  • Plastic bottle (2 l)
  • Utility knife or scissors
  • Decorative eyes
  • Flat bottle caps (in two-liter bottles they are very high, it is better to take from yogurt)
  • Superglue (or glue gun)
  • Flowers or soil with plant

Step-by-step instruction:

Step 1: Trimming

  • Cut off the bottle (not too high) and leave only the bottom.
  • Glue decorative eyes and a cork nose. The cork can be mounted upside down or upside down, at your discretion.

Step 2: Place Flowers or Plant Plants

If you use it as a vase - just put flowers in it, if as a pot - fill the soil and plant a plant.

This is what should end up happening:

Advice: plastic vases are light and therefore not very resistant. You can increase stability by putting a few pebbles inside at the bottom, the vase will become heavier and will not roll over and fall.

The reason for creating a vase from plastic bottle became flowers made from white plastic bags. The chrysanthemums turned out so tender and light that I had to look for options in which flower composition would harmonize with the vase. Ceramic jugs looked too rough. Against their background, transparent petals lost their lightness and faded. In a rich crystal vase, chrysanthemums also did not take root, taking on the appearance of poor relatives.
A plastic bottle is ideal for decorating a bouquet. blue color. From a container for sparkling water, it turned into an unusually beautiful, openwork vase.

For work I used:
- plastic bottle (0.5 l).
- scissors.
- needle.
- a candle.

First, in the bottom of the bottle, you need to cut a hole equal to the diameter of the cap, and then cut off the lower part, stepping back from the bottom about 1 cm. We got two parts and a cap.

We put a bowl with a hole on the neck of the bottle and twist the lid. The base for the vase is ready. You can even pour water into such a container. The main thing is to screw the lid on tightly.

However, our plastic bag flower does not need water, so we will decorate the vase. To do this, light a candle or use a gas burner. Hold the tip of the sewing needle over the flame for 8-10 seconds and easily pierce holes in the plastic. A red-hot needle enters the wall of the bottle, as if into oil. Immediately you need to decide on the ornament or pattern that we plan to reproduce on the vase. We decided to decorate the upper part with a row of flowers, so we made holes - the tops of five petals.
Next, cut out the flowers with small scissors.

It turns out such a wonderful edging. Irregularities and roughness that result when cutting out elements can be smoothed out by lighting a match and quickly pushing it through the hole in the petal. The edges of the plastic will melt and round. However, it is necessary to act quickly and clearly, since there is a risk of spoiling the work.

Next, we will use the idea of the bottle designers. Initially, the surface of our container in the neck area was with longitudinal recesses (grooves). We will take advantage of the situation and make holes with a red-hot needle along the recesses.

It remains to decorate the bottom of the vase. For convenience, we will remove the bowl from the neck and take care of the design of the patterns. Cut out the leaves on the bulges and thickly cut them with holes. Cut out leaves along the edge. The brown melted edges of some punctures do not scare us. They are easily peeled off with any rough material: sandpaper, nail file.
