Long socks on two knitting needles. The craftswoman deftly knits socks on two knitting needles! So easy that even a beginner can handle it! An easy way to knit socks with a toe: video tutorial

As my mother says, there is NO easier way to knit socks.

She told me over the phone how to knit these socks on two needles. I tried it and I liked it. (For many, seams are unacceptable, so I warn you: there is 1 seam in socks).

About the number of loops for 1 sock, the thickness of the needles and threads: I knit socks from the remnants of yarn, so each time I select the number of loops (42-50 loops), this is not very convenient, but this method allows you to knit socks from any yarn. I just knit the sock halfway, try it on and loosen it if it's narrow.

I will tell general principle, having understood which, you can knit socks with any pattern, any pattern, any length.

First knit on two needles elastic band (full width) that holds the sock on the leg, then part of the sock is knitted to the heel (by increasing the number of rows, you can knit high knee socks), then - the heel and then the toe we knit along the length of the leg.

The left and right sock are knitted in a mirror. One has a heel on the right, the other has a heel on the left, when stitching, the side seam is obtained from the inside of the leg.

If the 2nd part of the sock (in the figure) is not knitted, and the elastic band is made small, then the socks will turn out like slippers - low.

The main thing is to understand how to knit a heel, the rest can be knitted in different ways.

  • STEP 1: elastic band (marked in the picture above).

Cast on 48 sts and knit in rib 2 X 2 or any other. (It all depends on your threads, knitting needles, knitting style and the thickness of the legs.

Alternatively, you can knit an elastic band, sweep with threads quickly and try on to check the width of the future sock, whether your foot will fit.

  • STEP 2: high-rise toe (from elastic band to heel)

Facial surface - purl rows: purl loops. facial rows - facial.
You can also knit with any other pattern. Height - as you like.
Usually I don't knit this part. I don't like high socks.

  • STEP 3: bonnet heel

We knit stockinette stitch the first 21 loops on one toe and the last 21 loops on the second toe 14 rows. In each row, we remove 1 loop, and we knit the last loop on the wrong side.

It doesn’t matter if you cast on 42 or 50 loops, we knit exactly 21 loops for the future heel. And so 14 rows.

You can collect the rest of the loops on a pin or sew on a knitting needle - just do not touch them while knitting the heel. They won't interfere.
Tied 14 rows (photo above). The second sock will look like a mirror.

And now the most difficult thing is knitting the volumetric part of the heel. She will look like a cap.
15 heel row: knit 13 loops from 21 loops, and loops 14 and 15 together.

There should be 6 stitches left on the needle at the end. We do not knit them.
Turn the knitting over to the purl row:
16 row: 6 untied loops remain on the knitting needle, we knit further. We do not knit the last six loops again and leave them on the knitting needle, and in front of them 2 together (!!!)
If you are surprised, see the photo below. With this knitting, the heel will become voluminous. Nothing complicated - at the end and beginning of knitting, 6 untied loops each.

Always remove the first loop of the row
17th row: knit the last loop of the row with 1 of the “remaining 6” (5 left untied)
18th row: knit the last loop of the row with 1 of the “remaining 6” (5 left untied)
19 row: knit the last loop of the row with 1 of the “remaining 5” (4 left unknitted)
20 row: knit the last loop of the row with 1 of the “remaining 5” (4 left unknitted)
21 row: knit the last loop of the row with 1 of the “remaining 4x” (3 left untied)
22nd row: knit the last loop of the row with 1 of the “remaining 4x” (3 left untied)
23rd row: knit the last loop of the row with 1 of the “remaining 3x” (2 left unknitted)
24 row: knit the last loop of the row with 1 of the “remaining 3x” (2 left unknitted)
25 row: knit the last loop of the row with 1 of the “remaining 2x” (left 1 untied)
26th row: Knit the last loop of the row with 1 of the “remaining 2x” (1 untied left)

27 row: knit the last loop of the row with 1 of the "remaining 1" (0 left unknitted)
28 row: knit the last loop of the row with 1 of the "remaining 1" (0 left unknitted)

Hurray, the heel has become voluminous:
And now, only 7 loops remained on the knitting needle, the heel began to resemble a cap in shape.

Next, pull out 7 loops on each side from the “empty sides” and continue knitting the sock to the fingers with the front stitch. It is easier to crochet loops:

P.S. since in one sock 21 loops are taken at the beginning of the row, and in the other sock at the end, the socks may differ by 1 row in height in some places near the heel. It is invisible when worn.

  • STEP 4: toe length (heel to end)

Knit from 21 loops already tied heel row to the end along with those loops that we left on the knitting needle untied (or on a pin).

Knit in stockinette stitch or any pattern, sometimes decreasing loops (if the toe is wide for you) to the end of the little finger.
Finish the sock by changing the remaining loops on 5 knitting needles and subtracting 5 times in each row. Or knit a sock on 2 knitting needles, decreasing in each row 5 times. Pull the remaining few loops with a thread, sew a sock.

Friends, today I will tell you how to knit simple socks on two knitting needles. Socks are very interesting in their own way appearance, and by the way of knitting too. Of course, I did not invent them, but only used the description of Nadezhda Tokarenko .... Posted in classmates.

As always, I was seduced by the simplicity of execution ... and, besides, I just liked how the socks look on the leg ...

The socks are knitted on two needles. Cast on 49 stitches on needles #3. I knitted 30 rows with an elastic band 1 by 1. I found the middle loop (25th), marked it with a colored thread. In each front row, 5 loops were knitted from this loop (faces, yarn, faces, yarn, front). I knitted the purl rows, as knitting looks. When 97 loops were knitted on the knitting needle (this is size 37), I knitted 6 rows of garter stitch, that is, all the front loops. I find the average 9-11-13 loops (as you like). I take 13 loops and knit like a heel at a sock. Then sewed on the back. That's all! Fast and fit well! Good luck everyone!!!

For knitting I used:

  • yarn.... Pink-coral color. Unfortunately, the color in the photo is distorted - in real life the yarn is not so bright, but a delicate pastel color. For socks, it took only two hanks of 50 gr. the threads also remained, however, a little - not enough for a thing, but for knitting multi-colored ones it will come in handy
  • knitting needles number 3

Initially, I even came up with a name for this product... Since the color of the chosen yarn evoked thoughts of some delicate pink flowers... like sakura... and the knitting style, in my opinion, is very similar to Asian craftswomen - it's too easy...

Although ... not at all ... it is quite possible that this model was invented by someone from Europe, America or somewhere else ... in short, I don’t know ...

And what would it sound like - socks on two knitting needles "Sakura Flowers")))

But, having tied the socks and letting her daughter try them on, I heard from her that the socks had to be knitted more in a green color and pompoms sewn on in front, that these were not sakura flowers, but Elf's real shoes ...

Yes, the socks really have a very strange shape ...

But it must be admitted that in Lately in the fashion world often deviate from the classic canons in things. Although, the classic is undoubtedly immortal and always in fashion ... Therefore, if you are not an adherent of this kind of innovation and want to knit ordinary socks, then on the blog you will find

I continue my story...

How to knit simple socks on two knitting needles

We will knit socks on two knitting needles using two main types of knitting - this and

Although in the original source it is used instead of the front surface ... but I just chronically cannot do as others write))), therefore, my version of socks, although not many, will differ from the original ...

And yet ... knowing that my legs are not at all thin, and the foot itself is about the 40th size, it seemed to me that 49 elastic loops would not be enough, because. I know that one measure is used for knitting socks, which is not provided for in this model in any way (for more details, see the article "" ... therefore, a control sample was knitted and it turned out 55 for my yarn and knitting density ... So further we are talking about how knitting socks with two knitting needles will go based on my calculations ...

So, I dial 55 loops on the knitting needles, this set makes the edge elastic, and I knit 26 rows with a simple elastic band, alternating front and back loops.

If you notice, in the original there are 30 rows, but, again, it seemed to me a bit too much (the legs are short).

Next, I'm looking for the center loop. In my case, the 27th. You can mark it in some way - with a marker, colored thread or safety pin. Since it is before and after this loop that we will make increases. By the way, another difference with the original description ... In the original, there is one increase (5 is knitted from one loop)

To be honest, I very rarely mark the loops ... somehow I'm just not used to it ... I'm going to buy markers - play around, but there are more necessary and important things that need to be bought ... for example, here, click on the picture...Back to socks...

Having knitted 26 rows on 55 loops with a simple elastic band, I knit the 27th row as follows:

edge., 25 front, I lift the loop from the broach between the loops, yarn over, 1 front (this is the 27th loop in the row, yarn over, again I lift the loop from the broach, 26 front. This was the front row of the future product, in which the middle loop will always be Then I turn the knitting and knit the purl according to the pattern, note that in the purl rows the central loop of the row will always be purl.

As soon as it turned out 103 loops in the front row, I knit another purl row and stop the increase.

Next, you need to tie 6 rows of the front surface. That's the whole pagolenok. Only sole and heel left.

How to knit soles for socks and slippers with knitting needles

There are 103 loops on the needles in total. On 13 loops I will knit the sole with front stitch with partial knitting. It just seems complicated... it's actually very simple!

I do the following action (103-13) / 2 = 45. It turned out 45 loops of one sidewall of the toe, 13 loops of the sole and the second sidewall - 45 loops.

Edge, 44 front, 12 front, 2 loops together front, and I knit them behind the back walls of the loop
I immediately turn the knitting, without knitting the row to the end.

Edge, purl 11, 2 loops together purl (I knit behind the front walls).
I turn knitting. Further, I will knit only these 13 central loops, and at the end of each row I will knit two loops together (the last of the thirteen and the first from the left knitting needle) knit or purl (according to the figure).

Thus, I knit until all the loops from the sides of the sock are over.

How to knit a heel for these socks - options

To be honest, the heel does not suit me at all ... and if I knit socks on two knitting needles according to this principle again, then I will do the heel differently.

In the meantime, what's done is done...

IN original description the following is written:

Then sewed on the back.

This is exactly what I did for the first time and ... I didn’t like it - I dismissed it ...

The second attempt (I also saw this option somewhere on the net) - continue to knit the sole, adding loops to the knitting needles from the edge of the front surface of the sidewalls of the sock, decreasing 2 loops in the center in each row (knitting 3 loops together) and knitting the extreme loops in pairs with loops sidewalls (the principle of knitting the entire sole). I didn’t like it again - three loops together give a rather hard hem just on the heel, which is not comfortable when worn. Disbanded again.

And the third option is very similar to the second, but with a slight difference.

1 row - chrome., 3 persons., 2 loops together, persons., 2 loops together, 3 persons., knit the edge loop together with the sidewall loop (behind the back wall). We turn knitting.

2 row - all loops are purl, we knit the last loop together with the loop of the sidewall (for the front wall). We turn.

And so on, until all the loops of the sole are closed, only one remains, through which I stretch working thread leaving enough long tip for stitching the part.
The part turned out on left side and with a needle sewed the edges together for each edge loop (seam over the edge).

The second sock knitted in the same way.

So, how do you knit a heel? Having already knitted my socks on two knitting needles, I found the following recommendation on the net:

From the comments: Without knitting 6 loops on the knitting needles, I begin to decrease the middle 3 loops of the sole in each face. in a row until there is one left from the sole, and then I don’t sew it with a needle, but I connect it with knitting needles, like a border for a shawl. Don't forget the side cut

You can try it like that ... but I still don’t like the decrease of two loops right in the middle - the hem will be hard just on the foot under the heel ... In short, you need to try, think and try again)))

I offer a master class on knitting socks, winter is coming, let's knit warm socks for our kids on two knitting needles and without sewing. This method is convenient not only because we use only 2 knitting needles, but it is also very convenient to repair such socks. The first thing that wears out is the sole or heel, and in order to replace them, it is necessary to almost completely dissolve a regular sock knitted on 5 knitting needles. This is very labor intensive. If you knitted a sock on 2 knitting needles, you can dissolve only the heel or the heel with the sole, it takes much less time. Also, when knitting, you can add a stronger or warmer thread to this section of the sock.

We collect 16 loops and knit with an elastic band 1x1 16 rows, 2 rows of faces. loops, 8 rows of toe viscous (1r. - face. loops, 1r. - out. loops). Next, we make a mark along the edges, we put paper clips (or pins, or threads - whatever is convenient) into the extreme loops on both sides.

We continue to knit straight toe viscous to the tip of the little finger (we measure by the child’s leg), tie 2 more rows of faces. loops.

We begin to knit the toe, knit with a boomerang.
Boomerang: knit to the end of the little finger and begin to decrease loops, not knitting 1 loop at the end of each row, until 8 medium loops remain on the needle.

Detailed description of knitting toe and heel "BOOMERANG"

There are 16 loops on the needle, we begin to knit a toe, we decrease as follows:

  • on the front side we knit 15 persons, and we leave the 16th on the knitting needle, we do not knit, we turn the knitting
  • 14 out, do not knit the 15th, turn knitting
  • 13 persons, do not knit the 14th, turn knitting
  • 12 out, do not knit the 13th, turn knitting
  • 11 persons, do not knit the 12th, turn knitting
  • 10 out, do not knit the 11th, turn knitting
  • 9 persons, do not knit the 10th, turn the knitting
  • 8 out, do not knit the 9th, turn knitting

We start adding loops - at the end of each row, knitting one loop. You need to add loops until their number becomes the same (in our case 16)
More details on how to add:

  • knit on the front side of 9 persons, turn knitting
  • 10 out. turn knitting
  • 11 persons. turn knitting
  • 12 out. turn knitting
  • 13 persons. turn knitting
  • 14 out. turn knitting
  • 15 persons. turn knitting
  • 16 out. turn knitting.

All toes are connected.

We knit 2 rows of facial loops /
On the edge of knitting on both sides, we collect the same number of loops to the staples (as shown in the previous photo).

Knit sole

The principle of knitting, how the heel is knitted at the toe - at the end of each row we knit the last and stacked loops together, i.e. 15 loops knitted 16 and 17 together, turned the knitting and again knitted 15 loops, 16 and 17 together, turn the knitting and so we knit until staples until 16 medium stitches remain on the needle.

So we tied the sole to the staples. You can try it on to make sure it's the right size.
We begin to knit the heel with a boomerang. First, we make reductions,.

Then additions (). Everything, the heel is ready.

On the edges on both sides from the paper clips to the elastic, cast on loops (in this case 4 loops) and continue to knit to the elastic as the sole was knitted - we knit 15 faces, 16 and 17 loops together, and so we knit until the loops are over and 16 remains medium loops.

Knit 2 rows with knit loops.
There is very little left! We knitted to the elastic, the paper clips can be removed, at the edges on both sides of the elastic we collect 8 loops and knit with an elastic band 1 * 1, as the sole was knitted, at the end of each row we knit 2 loops together. And so we continue to knit until the cast-on loops run out and 16 medium loops remain. Close loops.

All our sock is ready. We knit the second in the same way.

Knitting begins with a classic set of loops. The number of loops will directly depend on the thickness of the yarn and the volume of the leg. For men's socks knitted with semi-woolen yarn (280 m, 100 g) you need to dial 54-56 loops. Next, the canvas is knitted with a “2 * 2 elastic band” of the required height (approximately 24-26 rows).

Then we move (you can use yarn of a different color) to the front loops and knit such a front loop tightly: here you can experiment with colors and knit stripes different color and width. So we knit another 22-24 rows.

Heel on two spokes

Now let's start knitting the heel. We will knit it with yarn in 2 additions, for which you need to introduce another thread and knit exactly half of the total number of loops.

We continue to knit only this half. It should come out like this:

After connected 12-14 rows, you can proceed to a uniform decrease in loops. We select the central 10 loops and begin to make decreases along the edges of the center in this way: we knit 8 loops, and we knit the 9th and 10th together.

Then we knit 8 more loops, 2 loops together, and knit the remaining loops.

Decrease is performed in each row. If you decrease correctly, then the number of side loops will be reduced and only 8 loops will remain on the knitting needle.

Foot on two needles

Now you need to type on the knitting needles the edge loops of the resulting heel. Like this:

Now we knit with the already familiar front surface before the formation of the toe:

Keep in mind that the toe will be 4-5 cm.

Toe on two spokes

It is desirable to seal the toe, so we will knit in 2 threads. We knit 2 rows without changes, and then we begin to evenly decrease the loops. To do this, we divide the canvas into 4 identical parts. So, in each row you get 4 decreases. We knit, not forgetting to decrease, until only 4 loops remain on the knitting needles.

Then we tighten the thread, threading it through the remaining loops. Now the toe looks like this:

As a result, you should get such a sock, which will have one seam:

Now we sew it. We knit the second sock according to the finished sample, on two knitting needles. The socks are ready.

A great gift for yourself and your loved ones will be warm socks. They are soft and comfortable and keep your feet warm in cold weather. Such an irreplaceable product can be worn under shoes, put on instead of slippers. This is a great solution for a child when shoes can rub their legs, and a soft sock will come in handy. Even in ancient times, grandmothers knitted socks on five knitting needles in a circle. This is very good way but it requires certain skills. Knitting socks on 2 needles greatly facilitates the work and is suitable even for beginner knitters.

Benefits of 2 spokes

Knitting on 5 needles is too labor intensive. It is necessary to limit the height of the loops and make sure that the knitting needles do not fall out. If something does not work out, it will be a pity to dissolve the product and start all over again. Socks on 2 needles are the easiest way to do everything quickly and beautifully. The advantages of this method are obvious:

  • you can use the remnants of yarn by tying the threads in small knots;
  • it is very easy to measure the product in the process of work and adjust the dimensions along the way;
  • the upper part of the leg, where the instep is located, can be decorated with beautiful patterns to your taste.

Tools and materials

For knitting socks on 2 needles in a simple way the following materials and tools are required:

  1. Yarn of any composition and any color - 100 g. It must be remembered that the result will be two socks, so the colors should be distributed equally between them.
  2. Spokes of any, but not very big size- 2 pieces.
  3. Stitching needle - 1 piece.
  4. Soft measuring tape.

Beginning of work

The required number of loops is dialed. If the height of the socks is at the level of the bone, it is worth measuring this particular circumference. If you plan to make socks higher (knee socks), the volume of the lower leg is measured. For an adult, approximately 40-50 loops are obtained (after a while it is recommended to measure whether the toe is tightening the leg). Then you can proceed directly to knitting:

  • Knit the first row completely with facial loops so that the elastic band stretches easily.
  • From the second row, start knitting with an elastic band 1 x 1 or 2 x 2, as you like.
  • Knit an arbitrary number of rows, remove the loops on the fishing line and try on whether the leg fits freely.
  • From the elastic, go to the front surface, which you continue to the heel. Rows knit as the loops look, facial - facial, purl - purl. If you make an elastic band and skip the front surface, the socks will be more like slippers (if the elastic band is short) or leggings (if long). Instead of a smooth surface, you can use another knitting that you like more.

Heel design

When knitting socks on 2 knitting needles, the easiest way is to knit the heel so that it is voluminous:

  1. Knit 21 loops, and remove the rest on a pin. In one sock, you need to work with the first loops, in the second sock, remove the initial ones on a pin, and work with the 21 remaining loops. Thus, one sock will be a mirror image of the other. The number 21 will remain unchanged, it does not depend on the number of loops originally cast on.
  2. Knit in stockinette stitch for 14 rows (21 stitches in progress).
  3. In the 15th row, knit 13 stitches, knit 13 and 14 together, leave the remaining 6 stitches on the needle without knitting.
  4. Turn the work over, still leave 6 loops untied on the needle, then knit 6 loops with purl loops, 7 and 8 - together. The remaining 6 loops are left unknitted on the needle in the same way. This will be the 16th row, at the end and at the beginning of which there are 6 loops not knitted.
  5. 17 row begins with the first loop removed without knitting, then you need to finish the row to the last loop. Knit the last one together with the first of the remaining six (5 left untied).
  6. The 18th row also begins with the removed, and ends with the combined last and first from the untied loops (again, 5 untied loops remain).
  7. Repeat the same steps until the 28th row, until all the untied loops are over.
  8. As a result, there will be 7 loops that were constantly in the center of the work.

From heel to toe

Knitted in the simplest way, socks on 2 knitting needles have a heel in the form of a “cap”. On its sides, you need to stretch 7 loops in order to return to the number 21 again (14 side and 7 central loops).

Connect the loops with those previously removed on a pin and continue working. Then knit the required number of centimeters to the toes (depending on the size of the foot, it must be measured with a soft meter).

The loops continuing from the heel can be knitted with front stitch, removed from the pin, you can decorate with any pattern (this will be the lifting distance)

Sock design

Knitting socks in a simple way on 2 knitting needles comes to the stage of designing a sock. To do this, at a distance at the base of the fingers, begin to decrease 5 times in each row (knit 2 loops together 5 times).

When the sock is ready along the length, stretch the thread into the remaining loops and pull it tightly, fixing it with a knot.

End of work

At the end of knitting, the sock should be sewn. There is one minor nuance. Since one sock is knitted with slip 21 at the beginning and the other at the end, the number of rows can differ by 1 near the heel. This is not visible and imperceptible when walking.

A simple way to knit socks on 2 needles is very original. It allows you to make not only socks, but also slippers or knitted shoes for a child. It is enough to think over the style of the upper part and attach the sole, and you get an unusual and creative shoe. It all depends on the imagination, desire and aspiration of a person who loves needlework.
