Stroller for a child which one to choose. Moms share their experience: how to choose a stroller

A stroller is one of the most important purchases for a newborn, without which long walks in the fresh air are inconceivable. There are many requirements for models for the smallest: it is important that the baby stroller is reliable, safe, comfortable and anatomically correct. How to choose it - experts of the online store "Daughters-Sonochki" tell.

Where to begin?

A stroller for a newborn should be comfortable - especially for the child, but also for the parents. It is necessary that the seat be protected as much as possible from impact. external environment: the usual weather conditions for us can cause discomfort to the little traveler. Therefore, the main tasks of the cradle of any stroller for the smallest are to provide the baby with warmth in the winter and coolness in the summer; securely shelter from wind, rain and bright sunlight.

During the walk, newborns sleep a lot, so the stroller must provide the baby with the appropriate level of comfort and coziness.

When choosing a stroller for babies, there can be no trifles. In addition to the cradle, you should pay attention to the wheels, and depreciation, and the safety of the child. It is also important what time the baby will be born: for “winter” babies, it is necessary to choose an insulated version, for “summer” ones - a lighter model. There are also universal, all-weather strollers.

Operating conditions dictate their own rules. For smooth paved paths, the size of the wheels, the width of the wheelbase and the quality of depreciation do not play a special role. Another thing is when it comes to walking in an area that cannot boast of high-quality sidewalks. All the nuances of choosing the best stroller for a newborn are revealed by the experts of our store.

Classification of strollers for newborns

Modern strollers for newborns are divided into several types - a classic cradle stroller, a transformer type model and multi-module strollers of the 2 in 1 and 3 in 1 configurations. Sometimes recreational ones are also included in this category - in practice, they usually have an age limit of “from 6 months”. One of the few exceptions to this rule is the Peg-Perego GT3 Naked Completo, which can be used from birth. When choosing a “walk” for a newborn, be sure to check whether it is suitable for a child who does not yet know how to sit.

A good stroller is not cheap, and the baby needs so many things! Experts advise buying a stroller as early as possible, and postponing other significant expenses for a month and a half. For example, you can choose a crib for a newborn later, because modern strollers do an excellent job of performing the functions of a cradle or rocking bed. Such a replacement is only beneficial for a baby: immediately after birth, many babies are afraid of unlimited space, and a stroller can become that cozy nest in which the child will feel as comfortable as possible.

Let's take a closer look at the specifics of each named type of stroller for the smallest.

Classic carrycot

The Inglesina Sofia Elegance model serves as an ideal example of a classic baby stroller. The design is simple: a removable cradle and a reliable chassis. As a rule, strollers-cradles have a wider bed compared to other types of analogues and an insulated rigid frame; necessarily horizontal (without tilt) position of the bottom. The latter is extremely important for the harmonious development of the newborn: pediatricians advise making the baby's bed flat and hard.

Some cradles can change the angle of the backrest. The number of positions ranges from 2 to 7. If you need this option, find out in advance if the stroller model you have chosen has it.

Parents will love the high wheelbase (which is very convenient; for example, in walking options, the child sits much lower) and the excellent cross-country ability of this stroller. Four large wheels and good depreciation of the named model cope with any impassability, protecting a light sleep and comfort of your kid.

Carrycots are not designed for long trips, but this does not mean that you cannot travel with such a stroller. On the contrary, the manufacturer has provided everything for your convenience: the cradle can be easily removed from the chassis and installed in the car using special fasteners. The wheelbase itself is foldable - it can be placed in the trunk.

The stroller is designed for children from birth to 6 months. After six months, the best option is to transfer to a stroller-type stroller - their choice is huge, and each buyer will find a model to his liking among the “walks”.

Transformer

If we are talking about a transformer, the best example of this type of stroller is Marimex Classic. An excellent economical option for those who want to roll a child from birth to 2-3 years in one stroller.

It has everything a child needs at every stage of his development. The newborn will be comfortable in the carrycot (installed in the stroller): it is equipped with the most important for the newborn, a solid flat bottom, located strictly horizontally. When choosing a transformer, be sure to check the hardness of the bottom of the carrier; notice her hands. They are soft and hard.

This is a universal stroller, in which the manufacturer combines rich functionality to the detriment of only one quality - the weight of the stroller itself. Everything else will certainly please you:

  • reversible handle;
  • the ability to adjust the height of the handle;
  • several backrest positions for babies who can sit;
  • spacious shopping basket and bag;
  • large inflatable wheels, providing excellent cross-country ability even on impassable roads.

Summer time will give you a unique opportunity to make the stroller ventilated. The back of the hood zips off to reveal a light mesh underneath.

Drive? You can take a stroller with you. When folded, it will fit into the trunk of almost any car.

Multi-module strollers

Multi-module strollers are expensive, but extremely popular. Firstly, these are guaranteed reliable branded models; and secondly, it is an opportunity to purchase a truly convenient thing for the entire period during which the baby will need a stroller.

For these models, one of two or three blocks can be installed on the same chassis: a cradle and a walking block; in the 3 in 1 variation, a car seat is added here. Consider this type of stroller for newborns using the Tako Moonlight as an example. In fact, multi-module strollers combine the advantages of a cradle and a "walk". Because the modules are removable and the chassis folds, you can travel with this stroller.

The unit for newborns in the multi-module Tako Moonlight is in no way inferior to the cradle in a classic stroller. But in comparison with traditional “walks”, the multi-module version will be liked by large wheels that will cope with any off-road perfectly.

Summarize

The ideal choice for a child from birth to six months is a cradle stroller. It provides the baby with the proper level of comfort and anatomically correct body support during this most important period of development for him. The main disadvantage is that already at the age of 6-8 months, most likely, the crumbs will have to be transplanted into more easy option for children who can already sit.

The transformer is suitable for those who appreciate quality for little money. Multi-module option - for those who are ready to immediately purchase the entire stroller set for the time when the baby needs a stroller.

Choice of stars

Immediately after discharge from the hospital, the English duchess Kate Middleton was presented with a super-modern stylish multi-module Bugaboo Chameleon 3 3-in-1 stroller (worth $875) - extremely light compared to other models in this category.

Famous American actress Jessica Alba purchased for her second daughter a functional multi-module Orbit baby 4 in 1 stroller, which provides extreme comfort for the baby during walks and is easy and compact to fold with one hand.

What should be your ideal stroller?

Dimensions and weight of the stroller for a newborn

Strollers for newborns are not compact (unlike strollers and walking sticks). Do not forget about transportation from the front door: if the house has a freight elevator, it will cope with any, the largest model. If there is no such elevator, when going for a stroller for a newborn, be sure to measure the distance between the open doors of the passenger elevator; it will not be superfluous to measure the entire cabin, because you will have to take out the stroller in the company with one or even two parents; it is important that everyone fits in one "race".

The cradle is ordinary and insulated. The second option is suitable for babies whose first six months of life fall on the predominantly cold season.

The length of the cradle in standard strollers for newborns is usually 77-80 centimeters; width - 37-40 cm. Wheelbase - somewhat wider. The elevator leaves, on average, open by 55 cm.

The weight of the cradle itself is 5.5-6.7 kg. Add to this the weight of the chassis and the baby - a stroller for newborns has to be lifted infrequently, but it is important that, if necessary, the mother can do it.

wheels

Strollers for newborns, as a rule, are equipped with a chassis with four large wheels. Gaining more and more popularity Alternative option- three-wheeled base with a front swivel wheel (it can be fixed if necessary); manufacturers focus on the improved maneuverability of this type of model.

The difference between four or three wheels is absolutely unimportant; it lies only in the tastes and preferences of the parents. There is an opinion that three-wheeled strollers are less stable, but the experience of many mothers refutes this statement.

Wheels in strollers for newborns are large, often on a disk.

There are plastic and rubber wheels. The latter need pumping; for them there is a danger of puncture. In this regard, plastic counterparts are more practical, but their ability to overcome obstacles and depreciation is much worse. An intermediate position between the two named options is occupied by foam rubber wheels. New generation material - EVO, polymer rubber. It provides excellent cushioning and reduces the chance of a puncture compared to rubber inflatable wheels.

In addition to visual appeal, large wheels provide excellent cross-country ability on any road and partly perform a shock-absorbing function, protecting the comfort of the baby.

It should be remembered that the softness of the ride is affected not only by the material of the rim and the size of the wheels, but also by the quality of the shock absorption of the stroller and the presence of bearings.

Depreciation

In high-quality strollers, the manufacturer necessarily pays increased attention to depreciation. It is she who protects the child from shocks and bumps caused by road roughness. Particular attention should be paid to the front wheels: they must be equipped with a shock-absorbing mechanism.

Today, the depreciation of strollers for newborns is provided in one of two ways: spring (aka “spring”) or belt. In the first case, the stroller is equipped with special springs that take on all the shocks, smoothing out bumps on the road for the baby. With a belt shock-absorbing mechanism, the cradle is connected to the wheelbase with special belts.

Determining which way is better is problematic. It all depends on the quality of the depreciation performance. But it is quite possible to evaluate this mechanism: for this you need to shake the stroller, randomly press on it. Pay attention to the seat: during the test, the movement of the cradle relative to the chassis must be smooth.

Stroller by season

If the child was born in autumn or winter, it makes sense to pay attention to how well the stroller is protected from adverse weather conditions. But, as a rule, high-quality strollers are perfectly adapted for the comfort of the baby at any time of the year (look at the marking: models suitable for use in winter are marked “winter-summer”). Water-repellent fabric with windproof impregnation, high sides of the cradle and insulated cape on the legs provide reliable protection against any weather conditions.

Many strollers are equipped with an air circulation control system - this allows you to maintain a comfortable temperature inside the cradle even in hot weather. Cape on the legs for the summer is equipped with a mosquito net.

Handle on a stroller for newborns

When choosing a stroller, of course, it is easy to immediately try on the handle (the height of its location). But what if the difference in height between the parents is significant, and the height of the handle, which is convenient for one, will be uncomfortable for the other? Pay attention to such an option as the ability to adjust the handle in height. By the way, this function will also be useful if your house does not have the most spacious elevator: just bring the stroller into it and quickly raise the handle up, thereby freeing up additional space.

Is a toggle handle required? Undoubtedly, it is convenient to throw it over to turn the child away from direct sunlight; protect from the wind. In modular wheelchairs, this problem is solved by reinstalling the unit (which may not be very convenient). But transformers usually have this function.

Customer reviews about the ability to throw a pen are mixed. In one-time cases, this option turns out to be useful, but in the vast majority it is not very convenient, because in the “non-native” position of the handle the stroller loses its maneuverability, it becomes very difficult to drive onto the curb with it. Therefore, the most reasonable option would not be to look for a stroller with an invariably flipping handle, but models with a low-dropping hood and good equipment.

Fabric elements

The fabric on the stroller for a newborn should be well cleaned: it is wrong to refuse a walk just because it is raining or slush outside the window. That is why many manufacturers make the outer skin of the stroller from water and dirt-repellent materials with windproof impregnation. As a rule, it is enough to wipe the outside of the stroller with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt particles.

As for the inner lining, it is good if it is made of natural fabric- usually cotton soft fabric does not interfere with the access of air to the skin of the baby and is pleasant to the touch.

How to fold a stroller

The need to fold the stroller for a newborn, as a rule, occurs infrequently - in extreme cases, the child is placed in a sling. Other models are intended for trips - walking and canes, but the age of the baby who can be rolled in them is limited to a lower limit of 6 months.

The wheelbase folds like a “book”, but at the same time, you should not expect a compact addition from a classic cradle and a transformer. The only option for "compacting" the named types when folded is to remove the wheels - if this moment is important for you, check in advance whether it is possible to remove the wheels from the stroller of your chosen model.

Modular strollers are considered the most compact in addition - the upper block is removed, and the wheelbase folds up successfully and can be placed in the luggage compartment.

Equipment and functionality

Be sure to pay attention to the complete set of the stroller that you purchase. Most of them are supplemented with only the most necessary minimum - a cape for legs and a raincoat. But the longer you plan to use the stroller (this is true for multi-module models and transformers), the more complete the set of additional accessories and features should be.

There is no need to talk about the convenience of shopping baskets - almost all strollers for newborns are equipped with them. There are different variants of baskets - fabric mesh or metal. The first ones are removable and can be washed. The second - do not need washing.

Footrest height adjustment

If the stroller has a walking block (we are talking about a modular version or a transformer), it is convenient when the footrest is adjustable. In some cases, it is due to the footboard that the bed is lengthened. Not all strollers have this option.

For many strollers, you can purchase an additional accessory - a footrest for an older child. It is attached to the frame of the stroller. Some models are equipped with such a step initially.

Simple and very effective ways make walks in the summer heat filled with biting insects, or in the rain, as comfortable as possible for the child.

Not all kids walk quietly in a stroller under a raincoat. If your baby is one of these children, an umbrella will be a useful addition to the stroller. It will allow you to walk in bad weather without resorting to the help of a raincoat.

Whether to fold the small things you need for a walk, or put a wallet and go shopping with your baby - a bag will help you out more than once on a walk. For many models, it comes unfastened and turns into a regular bag with a long handle - you can hang it on your shoulder.

Sunshield

In addition to the low-slung hood, it is convenient if the stroller is equipped with a sun visor. Such a "trifle" is able to give much more comfort to the baby during walks than analogues without a visor.

Mittens or muff for parents

A very recent invention, which was immediately adopted by the manufacturers of strollers for newborns and the parents themselves. Mittens or a muff are attached to the handle of the stroller and are simply indispensable in the cold season. Why can't you use conventional analogs? It's simple: while walking with gloves or a muff attached to the stroller, you can quickly remove your hands and give the baby a bottle or, for example, wipe away tears. It is much faster and more convenient than walking in ordinary gloves.

Pump and wheel covers

For strollers with inflatable wheels, sometimes a pump is included. If you already have a pump with various nozzles at home, you can pump up the stroller with it. If there is no such unit, it is convenient when it comes with the selected model.

Extremely comfortable wheel covers will keep the floor in the hallway dry and clean. They are made of raincoat fabric, are not afraid of washing and do an excellent job with the functions assigned to them.

Expert opinion

“It's no secret that outdoor activities are extremely important for any newborn. If the weather allows, you can walk at least all day! And young mothers often wonder - is it safe for a baby to stay in a stroller for a long time? If we are talking about a quality stroller for a newborn, of course, a long stay in it, and even in the air, the baby will only benefit. Strollers for newborns have a solid bottom, anatomically correct for the fragile skeleton of a newborn, so for some time they can even be used instead of a crib.

Please note: common defects in strollers for newborns

Appreciate the ease of movement of the stroller. Do not be shy right in the trading floor for a good ride in the stroller. If you feel that the movement is too heavy (keep in mind that you are pushing an empty stroller, and when the child is sitting in it, the movement will become more difficult), it is better to refuse the purchase, try another stroller of the same model or consider another purchase option.

Before buying, be sure to check all the mechanisms of the stroller. They should work smoothly, without jerking and jamming, ideally - silently. Does the hood drop quietly, the handle of the transformer is thrown effortlessly, and the brakes quickly and reliably block the wheels, making the stroller completely motionless on an inclined surface? You have found your stroller.

Pay attention to the ventilation system of the chosen stroller. The cradle should not be accessible to all winds, but it cannot hermetically “pack” the child. The ideal stroller is one with a well-thought-out air circulation system. In such a cradle, the baby is not hot in summer and not cold in winter.

Algorithm for choosing a stroller for a newborn

  1. Make a choice in favor of one of three types of strollers for newborns: a cradle, a transformer or a modular model.
  2. Specify the width to which the elevator doors open in your home, and focus on strollers with suitable wheelbase parameters.
  3. Take into account the time of the year that the first six months of the baby's life will fall, respectively, pay attention to all-weather, insulated or regular models.
  4. Determine for yourself the priority characteristics of the planned purchase:
    • number and type of wheels;
    • handle mobility;
    • desired functionality;
    • expected set.
  5. Choose from several models that fit your requirements and match your budget.
  6. Study the reviews on the Internet for the selected models, paying attention to the flaws indicated by the buyers, and make the final choice.
  7. Get to know the selected stroller "live" - go shopping and look at it.
  8. During the purchase, be sure to inspect the entire stroller: the quality of the seams, the smoothness of the mechanisms; check for evenness.

An example of choosing a stroller for a newborn

The child will be born in November, we live in a building with an elevator, we will have to leave the entrance by stairs. I would like a stroller for the first 6-9 months of a baby’s life, because I know from my sister's experience that strollers are lighter and more mobile, and our family is used to traveling a lot.

The elevator doors open well, so you need a stroller with a chassis up to 60 cm. walks in the chosen stroller mainly occur in late autumn and winter, it is necessary that the cradle be insulated. Considering that we will use the acquisition for a relatively short time, the type of stroller will be a “cradle”. We are not constrained by means, so we also want a stroller that is not cheap and beautiful, especially since we are planning three children, and we hope that the stroller will serve all three.

I love classic models on four wheels. Because our city cannot boast of ideal sidewalks, the wheels must be large, inflatable, with good cross-country ability. Both me and my husband short stature, so the ability to adjust the height of the handle is unimportant for us. As for the equipment, I would like the stroller to have a basket (ideally, a metal one) and a bag for mom.

All these requirements are met by the stroller Inglesina Sofia Elegance.

Parents Speak: Survey Results

We asked parents how often in summer and winter they walked with their kids, especially since doctors insist on the need for walks, and it is desirable that they be as long as possible.

How much time did you walk with your children outside in winter and summer?

    - in summer time:
  • twice a day - 47%;
  • once a day - 40%;
  • not every day - 13%;
    - in winter:
  • twice a day - 21%;
  • once a day - 45%;
  • not every day - 34%.

Conclusion

A good stroller is a good walk; with newborns, this pattern works as well as possible. There are many babies who fall asleep only in a stroller or only on a walk while driving. What should it be, the right stroller for newborns? There are actually many options, and a lot depends on the preferences and habitual lifestyle of the parents.

For those who crave mobility, the carrycot is the best choice. By itself, it usually does not differ in compactness, but as soon as the baby learns to sit, it can be transplanted into a light stroller, or even a cane-type model. The Inglesina Sofia Elegance will be an excellent choice among classic prams - reliable and beautiful.

For long walks on any roads from birth until you give up the stroller completely, a transformer is suitable. This is a very affordable option that allows you to get by with one stroller. If you have settled on this type of stroller for a newborn, pay attention to the functional Tako Natalia from a well-known Polish manufacturer.

Multi-module options are the favorites of car owners. Often as part of such a transport system there is a car seat. The chassis folds relatively compactly and fits in the trunk, and the upper modules are removed and replaced: first it will be a cradle, then a walking block. A car seat can be installed on the chassis. A beautiful, functional and inexpensive modular system is Tako Moonlight, which is in good demand in the Daughters and Sons store.

Long walks are a good contribution to the health and development of the baby. And with a quality stroller, you will walk with pleasure!

The question of choosing a stroller arises before every parent long before the expected moment of the birth of the baby. Such a desire is considered true, since it is important to approach the procedure with all responsibility. After arriving from the maternity hospital, the newly-made mother and father of the family will not have time for such activities at all. Leading manufacturers deliver to stores a large number of wheelchairs that are different appearance, functionality, dimensions and other characteristics.

Features of choosing a stroller

Before you go shopping, you need to make a list of requirements. Consider the main selection criteria in order.

  1. Price policy. First of all, calculate the amount you are willing to spend on a stroller. No need to choose the most expensive unit. The device should be ergonomic, nice, easy to use. You have to determine at a glance whether the cost matches the quality and appearance.
  2. Possibility of transportation. It is important to take into account the territorial criterion. If you live outside the city, pay attention to strollers that can be easily transported in a car. Today, many companies produce transformers with a detachable cradle. It is also important to assess the patency of the stroller in advance (sand, gravel, etc.), outside the city you will drive not only on asphalt.
  3. Childbirth period. When choosing a stroller for a newborn, it is imperative to take into account the season in which the baby will be born. If childbirth takes place in winter, the stroller should be dense with heaters. In this case, the baby must fit in the cradle, being dressed in a down jacket. It is important that there is enough space, otherwise the child will begin to act up. The winter stroller must have a wooden bottom. If childbirth takes place in a warm period, make sure that the device has ventilation. In this case, it is allowed to purchase a stroller with a plastic bottom.
  4. Storage. Before buying a stroller, you should choose a place for its permanent storage. A corridor, an apartment, a loggia, an entrance or a balcony can act as a "parking lot". The place should be so comfortable that you don’t have to worry about removing the device before and after the walk.
  5. Duration of operation. Calculate in advance the period during which you will use the stroller. If the equipment is purchased for a newborn, after 2 years it will have to be sold. In this case, you should not buy a stroller that is too expensive in order to quickly find a buyer later. If you plan to leave the stroller until the next child is born, the price criterion can be slightly raised.
  6. Size and weight category. It is difficult for new mothers to return home with a stroller and shopping, especially if housing is located on the top floor. Specify in advance the dimensions of the elevator and the fact how you will act if it breaks. The stroller should be light and agile in case of independent climbing the stairs.
  7. Terms of Use. Examine the criterion of territorial use. If you live in the city center, it is possible that the stroller will only be used on paved sidewalks, paved paths, and other flat surfaces. People living outside the city will most likely need a device with good maneuverability on sand, forest paths, gravel banks, etc.

Types of strollers

Leading manufacturing companies produce strollers for every taste and budget. This includes modular specimens, three-wheeled sports, transformers, canes, classic cradles, walking. Let's consider each option in more detail.

Modular stroller (universal)

The stroller is a chassis with modules attached to it. Universal technique can be "2-in-1" and "3-in-1". The first option includes only a cradle and a sitting chair. The second type is supplemented with a car carrier, but it is suitable for newborns up to 1 year old.

Advantages

  1. The stroller has a reversible handle, thanks to which the child can be carried facing you, and vice versa.
  2. The base of the cradle is quite rigid, so the baby will sleep peacefully without harm to the spine.
  3. If desired, you can unfasten the cradle and transfer it to the car interior. At the same time, the main frame is easily placed in the trunk.

Flaws

  1. The cost of economy segment models is quite high, while the weight of such a stroller sometimes reaches 20 kg. Cheaper specimens weighing from 10 to 15 kg. cost even more.
  2. The complexity of folding is determined by the specific frame. Modular strollers are not mobile and need more storage space.

Stroller

This type of stroller is designed for babies who have grown up to sit on their own. When choosing, special attention is paid to the weight category and dimensions of the "vehicle".

The indicators should correspond to the age of the child and at the same time be minimal. If the operation will be carried out over rough terrain, pay attention to the ride and suspension.

It is also important that the stroller has fixed brakes and front wheels that turn vertically.

Advantages

  1. Strollers are easy to fold, they are compact and do not require much space for permanent storage.
  2. Thanks to the adjustable backrest, the child can be put to sleep, and after waking up, sit down.
  3. In most cases, strollers of this type have a reversible handle, with which the baby can be carried forward or backward.
  4. Often the kit comes with a waterproof cover for the legs (for the cold season) and a mosquito net.

Flaws

  1. Strollers have poor ride and stiff suspension. As a result, the child is not very comfortable moving along country roads.
  2. Equipment of this type almost never has a warm substrate, so when used in winter, the baby may freeze.
  3. The device is equipped with small wheels, so it will be difficult for a young mother with shopping bags to drive on a bad road.
  4. Strollers can be not four-, but three-wheeled. For this reason, you will not be able to lift the stroller up the entrance or store ramp.
  5. Sports tricycle strollers are relatively light and maneuverable. However, if the wheel gets into a hole, the equipment loses its balance.

This type of stroller is considered a classic of the genre. It is warm, comfortable and big. The cradle is attached to the chassis in the form of an "X", so the technique is stable and durable.

Along with the stroller on the handle there is a carrying bag for mom, it can be easily unfastened. At the bottom there is a capacious basket in which you can put groceries and other little things.

Carriages-cradles suggest the presence of a horizontal bottom. The newborn will feel comfortable for more than six months, without suffering in a cramped space. After 5-7 months, parents will have to purchase a stroller or use a model with a detachable cradle.

Advantages

  1. Carrycots are high, so parents will not have difficulty bending over to the baby.
  2. Thanks to the hard bottom, the child sleeps soundly without falling into the "hole". This feature protects the baby's spine.
  3. Strollers have good protection against wind, snow, rain. Due to the high visor, the baby is covered almost completely.
  4. The suspension of the equipment is so soft that parents will not have difficulty with motion sickness of the child. Also, this aspect allows you to comfortably walk on bad roads.
  5. The stroller's chassis folds easily for easy transport. It is enough to unfasten the basket and remove the cradle.

Flaws

  1. Large dimensions will not allow you to lift the stroller up the stairs on your own. At the same time, the weight of the stroller is about 15-20 kg, which is also not very convenient.
  2. Many children prefer to climb into the stroller without the help of adults. However, the stroller stroller is too high, so parents will have to lift the child themselves.

Stroller-transformer

This model is considered the most popular among mothers of all ages. The stroller got its name from the transformation of the carrycot. You can easily put it in a sitting or lying position.

The technique is suitable for children from the moment of birth until they reach 2-3 years. The stroller comes with an envelope-shaped carrier, a rain cover, a mosquito net, a bag for the mother.
Often, manufacturers offer shock absorbers, large and soft wheels, a flip handle, sides and canopies of legs that imitate a full-fledged cradle for one price.

Advantages

  1. Transforming strollers are made of hard plastic, which is why they are light and maneuverable. Dimensions allow you to put equipment even in small-sized housing.
  2. Transformers are easy to fold, disassemble and transport. They are also suitable for single mothers who need to cope without the help of a man.
  3. Low pricing policy allows families with small incomes to buy a stroller. Question: "How much money to buy a stroller?" automatically disappears.
  4. Models that come with good shock absorbers and pneumatic wheels can be considered SUVs. They will easily pass through potholes without causing inconvenience to the baby.
  5. All transforming strollers are equipped with seat belts. Therefore, mothers of restless children can be calm that their child will not fall out of the cradle.

Flaws

  1. Strollers of this type have a soft bottom. At the same time, the small dimensions of the cradle do not allow carrying a baby in a down jacket in winter (or doing this with great difficulty and inconvenience).
  2. The device has a reversible handle. When she changes her position, the center of gravity shifts. In such situations, it is necessary to hold the stroller firmly.
  3. Unlike strollers, transformers are larger, wider and heavier.

The technique belongs to strollers. The device is easy to assemble. However, in this position, the impressive length will not allow the stroller to fit into a small car trunk, despite the resulting width of 25-30 cm. When buying, pay due attention to this particular feature.

Advantages
Thanks to its low weight and quick folding procedure, the stroller is easy to transport in public transport.

Flaws
Strollers of this type are designed to transport children only in the warm season. They are not suitable for use in winter and autumn.

What to look for when buying

Regardless of the type of stroller you choose, it is important to pay attention to its specifications. Do not rush to make a decision, carefully study all aspects.

Wheelbase

  1. Before buying a stroller, measure the width of the frame on which the wheels are attached. Compare the figures obtained with the dimensions of the elevator, they should freely enter it. It is also important to find out the dimensions of the vestibule or corridor where the stroller will stand permanently.
  2. Pay due attention to the size of the wheels. The wide version allows you to roll the stroller in the snow with ease, and it also provides good maneuverability. Too small wheels are unstable, they are difficult to control on a bad road.
  3. When a stroller is bought in the market or in a small shop, you can ask the seller to change the wheels. For example, if you liked the option of a smaller diameter, but there is no good example.
  4. Pay due attention to the eversion of the wheels. With this feature, you will turn the stroller with ease and, if necessary, go around difficult obstacles. However, the wider the eversion, the more the child shakes.

Stroller weight

  1. If the property is in a high-rise building or you have a private house with steps, consider operating in such conditions. How will you carry the stroller before and after walks.
  2. It is also worth considering the general improvement of the city. In the process of use, you will encounter constant walking on the stairs, whether in a store or a pharmacy.
  3. Consider the weight of the stroller, then add to this indicator the weight of the unborn child, bag, shopping bags and other little things. If you have to carry a stroller in your arms, you will soon risk tearing your back.
  4. Give preference to strollers with a weight category of 8-10 kg., No more. Too light options are also not worth buying. Otherwise, when the child grows up, he will turn it over.

Cradle

  1. Of course, the cradle must be roomy. Before buying, shake the stroller to assess the rigidity. Is the carrycot well secured? Does she swing enough? If not, the baby will feel every bump in his path.
  2. The depth of the cradle is another important point. The higher the rating, the better the protection from wind and other bad weather conditions. The baby will sleep much better in a spacious and insulated cradle.
  3. Be sure to evaluate the presence of seals (for winter use) or a ventilated bottom (for summer use). It should be rigid, this feature will not harm the spine of the child.

Dimensions and handle

  1. If you plan to send your child for a walk with relatives, a nanny or husband, choose options with adjustable handles. Each person will be able to customize it for themselves without overloading their shoulders.
  2. Fold the stroller, try to put it in the car trunk. Fold and unfold it yourself, do not seek help from the seller or husband. It is important that the mechanism is simple to the point of banality.
  3. Pay attention to the back of the walking block, it should freely take a position of 180 degrees. For safety, the stroller is equipped with straps that fix the baby in 4-5 points.

Choosing a stroller is a difficult and responsible moment for all parents. To buy a good option for a newborn, it is necessary to take into account the main features. Pay attention to the weight and overall dimensions, the size of the wheels, the rigidity of the cradle, the possibility of folding the handle. Before buying, study the prices in the market, in a regular store and online boutique.

It is recommended to take the time and pay due attention to the depreciation of the goods.

Information that helps solve the problem of how to choose a sled-carriage contains an item related to the date of birth of the baby. The fact is that for a child born in winter, it would be more expedient to buy an insulated version, while lighter models are suitable for "summer" children. However, when making a purchase in the winter, you can opt for universal - all-weather - strollers.

In addition to the importance of the time for which the purchase of goods is planned - for winter or for warmer seasons, it is also worth thinking about the conditions in which the product will be used.

If we are talking about smooth asphalt paths, then when buying a stroller, it is better to choose a model without really “bothering” on the main characteristics: wheel size and wheelbase width, depreciation quality, etc. The essence of the presented approach is that for problem-free surfaces all these properties do not play any decisive role.

However, if the surroundings of the place of residence of a family with a newborn are famous for bad sidewalks, then it is worth taking the choice of a stroller for the baby as seriously as possible.

Breakdown of products into popular categories

A competent choice of a stroller in terms of parameters is based on knowledge main subtypes of goods:

  • cradle;
  • transformer;
  • multimodal developments.

The last of the three mentioned subgroups is represented by two types: "2 in 1" and "3 in 1".

In a separate category, models of strollers are distinguished. In an effort to choose a good stroller for pleasant long walks, one must not forget about the strict restriction set for small users: the allowable age of babies is six months and older.

When deciding which stroller to choose, you can opt for the Peg-Perego GT3 Naked Completo model. This version is valid for use from the first days of a child's life. In any case, it is recommended to check the suitability of the purchased stroller for the needs of a child who has not yet begun to sit.

When deciding which stroller to buy for such a crumb, you need to buy a model whose weight varies between 12-15 kilograms. The wheelchair is operated without a toggle handle.

A transformer can also become a successful winter model. The age of the child in this case can be from birth to three years inclusive. However, it is important to pay attention to such a factor as the weight of the child. The weight characteristic of the stroller itself in this case is from fifteen to nineteen kilograms inclusive. The models of the series have a toggle handle.

Deciding to provide a newborn with a comfortable vehicle for the entire infant period, you can purchase a 2 in 1 model. It is also designed for babies up to three years old, with the obligatory consideration of the weight of a rapidly growing child. Product weight: 12-16 kilograms. The design does not include a toggle handle.

When buying a stroller for a child, you should be calm for the entire period from zero to three years in terms of the presence of a children's "TC". The weight of the child is also critical. Minimum weight the stroller itself - six kg, the maximum bar - twelve kg. Reversible handle available.

What about lack of finance?

An unwritten rule: in no case should you save on a stroller, despite the fact that buying it powerfully hits your pocket. Experts and ordinary parents strongly recommend starting purchases with a stroller, postponing other expensive purchases to a later date.

If, as parents, you choose a modern stroller model, then it can be used as a crib for the first month and a half without any problems.

In addition, it has been observed that children respond better to a small compact stroller than to a more spacious and frightening crib with unlimited space. Having decided to choose a stroller first, you can be sure that the child will feel much more comfortable in it.

Individual approach to problem solving for each family

What is still to stop your choice? As always, the right answer to this question will be a combination of information savvy and buyer intuition, in this case enhanced by parental love.

A cradle stroller is the best option for a baby, however, it is acceptable up to six, maximum eight months.

The models of the "transformer" series are famous for a harmonious combination of quality and economy. A successful purchase of the entire stroller set is the acquisition of a multi-module option.

A well-thought-out solution, attention to all factors will help to acquire a comfortable, reliable and beautiful stroller, which will surely remain in the memory of parents and in numerous pictures about the first years of a little man's life.

With the birth of a child, there is a need for such a means of transportation as a stroller. However, a wide choice of models often confuses parents.

To figure out which stroller to choose, you need to immediately decide on its seasonality and purpose. It is also necessary to take into account who will be the main driver, what terrain will be used for walks, up to what age it will be used.

How to choose a stroller?

Strollers for newborns are intended for the smallest children who cannot yet keep their head and back in an upright position. Therefore, the design of such strollers has a hard bottom and high sides so that the baby cannot accidentally roll out of the stroller.

The stroller frame must be securely attached to the chassis and have a ventilation system. For convenience, the model can be equipped additional accessories, the need for which is determined in each specific case.

Stroller dimensions

Depending on the design features, the strollers have different dimensions.

As guidelines when choosing the size of the stroller, you should use the capacity of the elevator, the width of the doorway of the apartment and the entrance to the entrance.

If the elevator of the multi-storey building in which you live has a shallow depth, then we recommend choosing a stroller not only for its length, but also for the option of throwing the handle.

Pay attention to the weight of the stroller

Since you will not only walk in a stroller, but also begin to lift it up the stairs, you also need to pay attention to the weight of the structure. It is better to leave non-lifting strollers for private houses with a ramp. If you need to lift a stroller with a child daily up the stairs of a five-story building without an elevator, then the construction of lightweight metal alloys and plastic elements will be the best option.

When transporting the stroller in a car, it is also important that it has a compact appearance when folded.

The height of the stroller depends on the diameter of the wheels and the design of the frame. The higher off the ground a newborn bed is, the less it is exposed to splashes, dust and cold from the snow, so if you plan to travel off-road, it is better to choose a higher model.

stroller material

The stroller cover consists of an outer and inner layer.

The outer layer is made of a special water-repellent material that protects the newborn from rain and melted snow. The fabric should be breathable so as not to cause discomfort to the child while in the stroller, but at the same time provide protection from the wind.

The easiest way to care for a hood made of synthetic fabrics: it is easily cleaned of dirt and is free from loss of shape during rain.

The inner surface of the cover is in contact with the skin of the child, so it must be made of natural hypoallergenic material.

On the practical side, you need to pay attention to whether the internal elements of the cover are removed and whether they can be machine washed.

Stroller bottom hardness

Good spine support is essential

The bottom of the stroller can be made from materials such as:

  • plastic,
  • cardboard,
  • cork.

The plastic bottom is more durable, while the cardboard and cork bottom are environmentally friendly. But no matter what material it is made of, the degree of rigidity should provide a comfortable position for the baby in the stroller and good support for the spine.

Box and sides

Strollers designed for babies have hard sides at least 20 cm high. This height is necessary in order to protect the child from falling, especially when he starts to roll over on his stomach.

For the cold season, there should be enough space in the box for a warm overalls, a fur envelope or a blanket in which the baby will be wrapped.

Wheelchair wheels and cushioning

Whether the stroller overcomes obstacles well depends on the type of its wheels and shock absorbers.

The wider the wheels, the higher the patency, but the worse the maneuverability.

The most maneuverable are strollers with wheels that can rotate 360 °. An important contribution is made by the handle of the stroller. Height adjustment and the ability to reverse in the opposite direction allow you to drive on the most difficult road.

There are models of strollers on the market with various types wheels:

  • inflatable,
  • foam plastic,
  • molded rubber,
  • with metal spokes
  • double,
  • single.

The type and diameter of the wheels is selected depending on the season for which the stroller is intended and the terrain crossed. In winter, it is more convenient to travel on snow on large wheels made of foamed plastic or frost-resistant rubber. Inflatable wheels provide better cushioning, so with them the baby will be more comfortable to overcome potholes and curbs.

Small wheels are not able to cope with the winter conditions of central Russia and are suitable for warm weather. If the period of infancy of your child falls at the junction of the winter season and the demi-season without snow, then you can stop at the universal models of strollers that come with two types of wheels of different diameters at once.

swivel wheels they are only suitable for smooth, cleared roads, so when driving through snowdrifts, it is better if they are equipped with a brake that locks them in a straight forward position. However, they perform well for avoiding obstacles and sharp turns. When buying a stroller of this kind, you need to immediately check whether it will go straight ahead when the brake is fixed. If this position cannot be achieved, then there is a factory marriage.

Wheels with plastic rims do not require pumping and are lighter than models with metal spokes. However, the metal base is able to provide greater stability and easily absorb shock loads. For walks through the forest and the countryside, it is convenient to choose strollers with three wheels (one in front, two in the back).

How to choose a stroller that will provide the right cushioning? You need to focus not only on the type of tires (inflatable, cast), but also on the presence of shock absorbers.

  • In cross-frame strollers, leather straps or metal fasteners play the role of a shock absorber.
  • In L-shaped strollers, there are springs for this, which are installed on the front and rear wheels.

If you have chosen a model with inflatable wheels (pneumatic tires), then get ready to pump them up periodically and carry out tire fitting in case of punctures.

Wheelchair brake

To prevent the stroller from rolling while you release the handle, a convenient brake is required. Among the found models of strollers, two brake options are common:

  • blocking due to falling into the groove,
  • clamping method.

The first option is more convenient, as it securely locks the wheels in place. When pressing, the blocking does not occur completely, and with a little more effort, the stroller will move again.

The wheelchair brake should not be loose or too tight.

Seat belts

Whether seat belts are needed in a stroller, each parent chooses for himself. If you plan to buy a universal stroller model that will be used as a car cradle or a walking option, then a five-point seat belt is a must. Otherwise, you can get by with a three-point option.

Add-ons

For convenience, strollers are equipped with baskets, pockets and bags placed on the handle. In addition to them, the kit may include a rain cover, a muff for legs, a mosquito net and other accessories that become nice additions, but are not always used by parents.

Varieties of designs of baby strollers

Strollers for very young children can be made in the form of:

  • classic bassinet,
  • transformer structures,
  • parsed modules.

The purchase of a particular model is due to the financial capabilities and needs of the parents.

Classic carrycot

The classic hard-bottom stroller consists of a carrycot and a wheelbase. Most models have an adjustable hood and a lifting multi-level headrest. The cradle is intended for children up to a year. When a child outgrows this age category, he needs a different model, which is the main disadvantage of this type of stroller.

The rest of the classic has great amount pluses. The cradle is located at a high height from the ground due to the volumetric inflatable wheels, so parents do not need to bend over the child much. Also, thanks to such wheels, good depreciation is provided, but maneuverability is lost. The carrycot cover protects your baby from wind and rain.

Such a stroller has significant dimensions, so the child will feel free in it. However, not every elevator is able to accommodate a large stroller, and not all parents can lift it up the stairs, because they weigh a lot.

Ideal for a child, but only used for a short period

The cradle is good for motion sickness, going to the store (there is a deep basket), walking in the cold season. Some allow you to use the carrycot for transportation in the car. To do this, it is removed from the frame and connected to the seat with seat belts. To limit head movements, a special protective headrest is connected to the walls of the cradle.

Transformer

The "transformer" model is capable of performing several functions, replacing two strollers at once. In the position of the handle facing the mother - this is the cradle. It is worth turning the handle in the opposite direction and removing the extra bumpers, the stroller turns into a walking option, so its age category is from 0 to 3 years.

To ensure the required level of safety in a sitting position, these strollers are equipped with reliable belts. Also included in the transformer kit is a carrying case with handles.

The wheels of the transformer are smaller than those of a classic cradle, but larger than those of a conventional stroller. The folding mechanism is convenient for transportation. In height, such strollers are low, and the dimensions are quite compact. The transformer easily fits even in the cramped elevator, and due to the flip handle, additional space is freed up for the parent. But at the same time, the child will not feel free in a small cradle, especially if he is wearing a voluminous winter suit.

The main drawback of the transformer is the lack of horizontal.

The maximum backrest angle in most models is 160°, so you will need an additional mattress in the stroller. The main advantage is the democratic price.

Modular stroller

The best strollers in terms of versatility are modular models. The set of such strollers includes two or three modules: a cradle, a stroller seat and a car seat. At a price, a modular stroller will cost more than a transformer, but cheaper than a set of several strollers, the functions of which it is capable of performing.

The design of the modular stroller provides for a high location of the cradle in relation to the ground. However, with a seated module, this is not an advantage, but a disadvantage.

By weight, a modular stroller is heavier than a transformer, so it may be difficult to carry it.

Otherwise, this is the most versatile option for a modern family.

Tricycles

Transformers and modular strollers are available not only on a standard frame with four wheels, but also on a triple one. The front wheel at the same time has a smaller diameter and is supplied with a brake against turns to the side. Tricycles show increased maneuverability in the warm season, but are practically unsuitable for winter.

Stroller for twins

If twins are born in your family, then buying two single strollers will not be the best option. In this case, it is better to purchase one stroller with two cradles located in parallel or in series. The option of placing one cradle behind the other is called "tandem" and is considered more convenient if the back seat is higher than the front.

The best strollers

The following models can be called the best strollers for winter:

  • spacious cradle German-Polish produced by Noordline Edel, which has a fur envelope in the kit (price from 13.7 thousand rubles);
  • insulated German stroller 2 in 1 Zekiwa Touring de Luxe (from 26.8 thousand rubles);
  • classic insulated cradle with frost-resistant rubber Bebecar Grand Style Plus from a Portuguese manufacturer (from 30 thousand rubles);
  • Italian modular stroller with an insulated cradle Peg-PeregoGT3 (from 33.7 thousand rubles).

Small weight, which makes it easy to lift the stroller up the stairs, have such strollers as:

  • American modular system Graco Evo 2 in 1 (weight 6.5 kg, price from 11.2 thousand rubles);
  • universal German stroller 2 in 1 Cybex Callisto Fashion (8 kg / 17.9 thousand rubles);
  • modular stroller 3 in 1 by the Italian manufacturer CAM Fluido (9.8 kg / 21.5 thousand rubles).

The Hauck Apollo (Germany), Hauck London Trioset, UPPAbaby Cruz (America) and Cosatto Giggle (England/China) models also weigh no more than 10 kg.

If a multi-storey building is equipped with an elevator, but its dimensions are limited and do not allow the use of wide strollers, then the choice can be stopped on models with a narrow wheel base. The fundamental characteristic in this case is the width of the wheel block. The minimum width (50 cm) have models Maclaren Techno XLR and Chicco Simplicity.

Video - “Which stroller is better to buy?”

When choosing a stroller, you need to focus primarily on the age of the child. A stroller for a baby in the first months of life should be with a hard bottom, high enough and passable. But a one and a half year old child does not have to sleep on the street. For him, on the contrary, mobility is important, the ability to roll a stroller and sit in it himself during a walk, therefore the requirements for his stroller are completely different. In second place is financial side question, because the price of a stroller fluctuates over a very wide range. And in third place, quality, manufacturer, appearance, convenience and other factors are placed, up to "just like it."

Strollers are of the following types

1. strollers-cradles (classic)
2. strollers
2.1. stroller
2.2. stroller-book
3. strollers-transformers
4. tricycles
5. strollers for twins
6. universal strollers
7. transport system
8. stroller-backpack

1. Strollers-cradles (classic)

Carriages-cradles, which are cradles on wheels, are exactly what our mothers used. This necessary thing for a child aged from birth to 6 months. The classic stroller has a basket with a hood that does not transform or disassemble. The location of the basket is quite high off the ground and reliably protects the child from dirt, dust and any other weather adversity.

The cradle has a horizontal hard bottom, the most favorable for the baby's back (in some models, the backrest can be raised). The high position of the cradle makes it easier to communicate with the baby, you do not have to bend down low to pay attention to the baby. The child sleeps well, he is well protected from wind and dust. When the child begins to sit, it will be uncomfortable in the stroller-cradle. The front wheels of such strollers do not turn around their axis, which makes the stroller less manoeuvrable.

2. Strollers

Strollers are designed for older children who can sit, because. sleeping in them is uncomfortable. Strollers can be divided into winter and summer. Winter strollers are larger with larger wheels and are made of warmer material. Summer strollers are smaller and have smaller wheels. Strollers can have from 1 to 5-7 back positions. If you need a stroller for long walks, then be sure to pay attention to the fact that the backrest is folded as horizontal as possible, since during such walks the baby will most likely sleep, and not do it while sitting.

2.1. Cane stroller

Cane strollers are very light in weight and easily fold into a cane. This type of stroller is suitable for children who can sit confidently (from 1 year old, but this needs to be checked with the seller). This stroller is great for moms who love to travel, shop, and you can go everywhere with this stroller. In these strollers, your baby will be able to relax (the backrest is adjustable in height), and most strollers have a fairly roomy mesh - the trunk. This stroller can be easily folded for travel both in public transport and in the car. It is difficult for modern parents to do without such a stroller.
Strollers of this type have the following advantages: very light, inexpensive, compact, easy to fold, easy to manage. But there are unprotected shortcomings, restrictions on the age of the child.

2.2. Stroller book

Book strollers are slightly larger in size and weight, they fold like a book, i.e. the back and seat are connected. Many strollers have an adjustable backrest, so in such a stroller the child can not only sit, but also sleep. The back of these strollers is quite rigid, which will allow your baby to fully relax. Such strollers are larger than cane strollers, however, they are more comfortable, more stable, more enduring. These strollers are not intended for driving in a car or transport. However, some models of such strollers can serve you from six months to 3-4 years.

3. Transforming strollers

This is a stroller with additional removable elements, the back of which is fully unfolded to a horizontal position. Such a device makes it possible to use the stroller for both a newborn and a baby who can sit on his own. Having expanded the seat back to the "lying" position and installing a removable front board (U-shaped corner) on the stroller, it is easy to turn it from a stroller into a cradle and vice versa.

The transforming stroller can be used from birth to three years, once and for all resolving the issue of transport for the child. Transformers are lighter than classic strollers for newborns (on average, their weight is up to 15 kg), they have smaller dimensions. Much more compact. Removable insulation parts, a large hood, a cape on the legs, an additional insulated envelope-liner make the transformer all-weather in use. A transformer with large pneumatic wheels becomes an off-road stroller. Five-point safety harness, multiple backrest positions, adjustable footrest make the walking option comfortable and safe for the baby. And the overturning handle allows you to quickly change the position of the baby, covering him from the sun and wind.

Despite a sufficient number of pluses, one cannot but admit that the quality of two-in-one products is often worse than that of things made separately. Compared to a classic stroller, the transformer does not have a rigid base that allows the child to lie on a flat surface. In this regard, transformers with a carrying envelope with a hard bottom are more convenient. The transformer in the "cradle" position is more cramped for the child and not deep enough (this is especially felt in winter, when the baby is in warm clothes and blanket). Transformers are low, their basket is not monolithic, like a cradle, but consists of separate elements. The suspension of the transformer is much stiffer, so such models have less cross-country ability. Yes, and rocking a child is more difficult: the stroller only sways from side to side. If the handle is set to the "facing mother" position, the brakes are behind the stroller, so you have to run around it every time to block the wheels. Even when folded, the stroller takes up a lot of space, making it difficult to use when moving on public transport.

4. Tricycles

Just like their four-wheeled "big brothers", three-wheeled strollers can be: universal, pwalkers, transformers, travel systems.

The design features of a three-wheeled stroller are the presence of a hand brake and the design of the front wheel. The handbrake lever can work in the soft braking position (handy for braking on descents / ascents) and as a parking brake. In some models, the handbrake blocks not only the front wheel, but also has a drive to the rear wheels. However, in cheap models, it performs a rather decorative function and is just an attribute. sports style. IN real life they almost never need to be used. Strollers with a fixed front wheel are the most common and affordable, however, not very maneuverable.

The swivel front wheel increases the maneuverability of the stroller, allowing you to quickly and easily change direction. And if it is equipped with a direction lock, it becomes possible to select the driving mode. The wheels are fixed on a difficult road and turn on a flat road.

Overcoming obstacles, such a stroller remains on one wheel, which makes it unstable. And if this wheel is swivel, and even turned 90 degrees to the side, the likelihood that the stroller can tip over increases dramatically. So the owners of such models will have to master overcoming curbs and steps without lifting the rear wheels. In addition, two-track ramps for a tricycle are not suitable. So you have to either lower or raise it on two rear wheels with the front one up. Tricycles go hard in the snow. Design features (one wheel is always in front) do not allow to have a toggle handle to quickly change the position of the child.

5. Strollers for twins

Strollers for twins deserve increased attention from designers in terms of ensuring cross-country ability and ease of control, because the parents of twins have a double burden. For walks with twins, three-wheeled strollers are usually used, made like strollers, which, in addition to all the necessary devices, such as protective capes and hoods, footrests and seat belts, are usually equipped with a swivel wheel in front, providing increased maneuverability. There are also special strollers for twins. Chairs in these strollers can be located both side by side and one behind the other.

One after another or "train". Most often, in models of this type of stroller, children sit one after another, but there are varieties where the kids sit facing each other. An undoubted advantage is the easy passage of doorways, even the narrowest. In addition, this stroller can be operated with one hand. But in such a stroller, it will often be inconvenient for a baby who is not sitting in front - his legs may not fit and it is not clear what is happening in front. The seats in this stroller do not recline to a horizontal position. And the length is very large, which reduces its maneuverability.

Side by side or side by side. The seat can be one, with partitions or just separate seat belts for babies. Or several seats are attached to one common base. Advantages: kids do not block each other's view; can have all the conveniences of a single stroller; mother can freely approach each baby. But such a stroller is unlikely to enter the elevator unfolded. In addition, it is not easy to operate such a stroller with one hand.

"Transformer". A stroller that combines sleeping and walking functions. A very convenient feature: the position of the cradles or seats can be changed relative to each other. That is, children in such strollers can be planted both side by side and one after another. And you can even back or face each other. This stroller is also suitable for small children. The disadvantages of transformers include the fact that they weigh a lot, and maneuvering such a stroller is not very convenient.

6. Universal (modular) strollers

An option when you can first install a cradle on one chassis, and when the child grows up, a walking block. Many manufacturers also produce car seats - group 0 or 0+ carriers that can be installed on this chassis. Manufacturers usually offer 3 in 1 or 2 in 1 options, walk+carrycot+car seat and walk+carrycot respectively. Rarely sold separately different variants chassis, cradles, walking blocks and car seats, from which the buyer himself makes up the desired option.

Or the manufacturer produces various strollers that can be fitted with a carrycot and/or car seat from the same manufacturer. Thus, the buyer has the opportunity to purchase only what he needs and not necessarily in one day. It is not a transformational, but rather a modular principle that works here: a closed basket can be installed on a universal chassis (there are even models in which these baskets can be changed as the baby grows) or a stroller seat.

Such a stroller is free from many of the shortcomings of a transformer: a newborn baby will use all the amenities “due” to him in it (it doesn’t shake, it’s warm, close to his mother, neither rain nor snow is terrible), and an older child will be able to sit and survey the surroundings, and many wheelchairs, the chassis is designed so that the seat of the stroller can be oriented in two ways: facing or back to the “driver”. Modern universal strollers are equipped, as a rule, with large wheels that increase their cross-country ability.

7. Transport system (travel system strollers)

The transport system or Travel System is a stroller on which a car seat-carrying is installed, can be considered a kind of 2 in 1. This option is useful for parents who often have to travel with a child by car. The advantageous difference between the Travel Sistem and a simple car seat is that upon arrival at the place, the car seat together with the child (even sleeping) can be easily put on wheels and carried further, and not carried in your arms.

As a rule, this is a lightweight stroller, with the ability to quickly and compactly fold (preferably with one hand). When folded, it fits in the trunk of any car. Suitable for babies from birth with the backrest fully reclined to a horizontal position. Can be on fixed or swivel wheels. The shock absorbers provide a smooth and soft ride for walking around the city and along forest paths. On average, travel systems weigh 13-15 kg (there are also 20 kg heavyweights). The presence of seat belts does not allow you to put the child in an envelope or wrapped in a blanket.

8. Stroller-backpack

Thanks to its design, this version of the multifunctional stroller can easily be converted into a shoulder carrier for carrying the baby on your back. It is designed for children from 6 months, that is, for those who already know how to sit. The frame of the stroller-backpack is made of aluminum alloy, which ensures lightness, reliability and durability of the structure. It is ideal for public transport. The stroller-backpack in a matter of seconds folds and puts on the back of mom or dad. Thus, both hands are free for parents, and the child is securely fixed in the backpack, and there is no danger that he will break free and run away. What's more, you don't have to worry about dirty wheels. The design of the stroller is such that when folded they are closed with a special protection and do not come into contact with clothing.

The advantages over the "kangaroo" are obvious here. If the mother is tired of carrying the child in a backpack, then it can be "put" on wheels and carried like a simple stroller

Tips for choosing a stroller. How to choose a stroller so that all components are comfortable and of high quality

Body (goat in a carrycot or seat in a stroller)
How the body is attached to the chassis. The fastening should be: strong, symmetrical (i.e. the child should not “fall over” to one side). And a few more general requirements.

It is desirable that materials used for bodywork, were natural (this is especially important for interior decoration) and waterproof (especially outside). It is very good if the body upholstery is removable, allowing washing (preferably machine). It is convenient if the body is equipped with handles or carrying straps on the sides. Pay attention to the dimensions. On the one hand, the body should be spacious so that the child is not cramped. On the other hand, it is important not to overdo it: the stroller should freely enter the elevator (if, of course, you use the elevator), and so that there is room for you in it. There are bodies that can be used as a car seat - for transporting a baby in a car.

The basket must be warm enough, especially if you need a closed stroller in winter.

Some baskets on the bottom and on the sides are equipped with a so-called "safety cage"- a rigid (most often plastic) frame, which plays the role of not only protection, but also a heater. A basket with a safety cage must certainly have a ventilation system, or, more simply, holes in the plastic, which can be closed if necessary. It happens that a special removable seat is attached to the basket, fixed right inside the basket - for babies who are just starting to sit: they are not yet ready to completely switch to a stroller “sitting” stroller, but they no longer want to lie down all the time.

Coloring inside the body should not be blindingly white, otherwise it will reflect light and blind the baby, in general the colors should not be bright. It is good if the lining is warm or pastel colors with a discreet pattern that will not prevent the baby from falling asleep. For winter and autumn babies it is especially important that the cradle is well insulated.

If you are buying a convertible stroller or a versatile stroller with a full body kit, pay attention to the seat of the stroller. seat must be equipped with seat belts: even the calmest child can fall out of the stroller without them. The footrest of the seat should not cut the baby's legs (it can be plastic or metal, but with a cloth padding); it is better if it is fixed in several positions.

Chassis (frame with wheel mounts, shock absorbers)

The chassis should be made of light and strong alloys. Pay attention to the shock absorbers: they provide a smooth ride and - to a large extent - the stability of the stroller. Shock absorbers are belt-type, but in modern strollers they are most often springs or plastic hinges. It's good if the plastic hinged shock absorbers are covered with metal shields. Sometimes articulated shock absorbers are also equipped with springs. There are spring shock absorbers, which are, in essence, an elastic metal frame.

Aluminum or steel, it can be painted or chrome plated. It has, as a rule, an X-shape and is folded "accordion" (the cradle descends to the wheels). For a more compact addition, the wheels come unfastened. In some models, this operation can even be performed with one hand by pressing the button located in the handle sleeve.

shock absorbers

Shock absorbers allow you to absorb shocks while driving, give the stroller a smooth ride that helps the child fall asleep, and if the baby starts crying, he can always be rocked. In cheap models, this function is performed by belts with which the frame is attached to the chassis with wheels. Of course, the belts are short-lived, but they creak less and rock the stroller quite well. In expensive models of strollers, the chassis has a spring closed (and even adjustable depending on the weight of the child and the road surface) depreciation system (Bebecar, PegPerego).

Stroller wheels

big wheels are necessary for good patency of the stroller. With small wheels, it will be difficult for you to drive onto the pavement. The larger the diameter, the higher the permeability. Less is more maneuverability. Therefore, for forest walks, choose strollers with large wheels, and for the city with small ones. Inflatable, so-called. pneumatic wheels make the stroller move softer, but it may be necessary to pump up or repair them. These problems do not have wheels with thermal rubber - close in elasticity to inflatable, but more practical. The larger and wider the wheels, the easier the stroller goes through snow and mud. Below are options for strollers with large and small wheels.

small plastic wheels significantly lighten the design of the stroller and make it less overall. Twin floating wheels allow you to increase the maneuverability of the stroller. In general, small wheels are ideal for summer walks on flat paths and shopping trips. floating wheels must have locks that allow, if necessary, to securely fasten the wheels in one position (this feature can be very useful when driving on a bad road). Ideally, if the design of the stroller provides removable wheels and allows, depending on the situation, to choose one or another option.

Wheelchair brakes

Pay attention to the reliability and ease of use of the brakes. Most strollers with large wheels have parking brakes that are quite reliable, just make sure that you are comfortable and that your shoes do not deteriorate when using them. With small wheels, everything, as always, is an order of magnitude worse. Many high-quality strollers, of course, with large wheels are equipped with manual service brakes. This is a very convenient thing, especially when descending (and on the ascent to take a break): you don’t have to rest like a horse with a cart on a slope. The handbrake will be especially appreciated by graceful mothers, whose weight has not reached sixty kilograms. By pressing the brake with your hand, you will allow the stroller to roll at a comfortable speed. First, check whether it is easy to silently put the stroller on and off the brake without the help of hands. And, secondly, make sure that the brake is securely fixed in the position you set.

stroller frame

Ram there is a great variety. The less plastic in the frame, the better. Steel frames are more reliable than aluminum ones, and they weigh, surprisingly, the same! The most reliable are cruciform frames, this type has been used for at least forty years, its brightest representative is the models produced by the GDR, on which the current parents were also taken. For twin strollers, the cruciform frame is also quite suitable.

Carrycot function

The one-piece molded case made of impact-resistant plastic not only reliably protects the child during a walk, but also allows you to transport your baby in a car. To do this, the car seat is equipped with a special set for fixing on the back seat and a soft restraint belt, as well as a special headrest pillow - for additional protection of the child's head. Security kit may be sold separately.

Stroller handle

It is convenient if the design of the stroller allows you to adjust the height of the handle, adjusting it to the height of the “driver” of the stroller. It's good if the handle folds (don't forget about cramped elevators). It is also convenient if it can be thrown over so that, depending on the circumstances. This detail allows you to turn the baby around at any time so that the sun does not shine in his eyes and the wind does not blow in his face. Check how reliable the handle is and how strong and comfortable the plastic nozzle put on it is (if it breaks, you will have to hold on to the metal which is not very pleasant).

The stroller must have a strong safety cage.

The roll cage is what is underneath the fabric that wraps around the body of the stroller. It must be ventilated and it is good if it is made of impact-resistant plastic (there are no plastic frames in transformer strollers). Touch the sides of the stroller: if you feel that there is no hard base under the fabric, then such a stroller is not very suitable for winter.

The material the stroller is made of

The material from which the stroller is made must be durable and easy to wear. Some strollers are covered cotton fabric. This is not very convenient, since such a stroller is difficult to wash. It should also be borne in mind that blue and cyan colors are more prone to fading in the sun than others. A light stroller will get very dirty.

stroller dimensions

Decide on the dimensions of the stroller, incl. in the folded state. It may not fit in your elevator or it may not fit in the hallway.

Before buying a stroller, do not be lazy and measure the opening of the elevator in your house. If it’s easier with walking ones, then the models for babies are overwhelmingly divided into two categories: those that simply don’t fit into our booths for gnomes; and those that need to be pushed there. Transformers and some cradles of Polish origin fall into the "risk group". Apparently because the Italians have an easier attitude to life (or maybe they also have a problem with small elevators) - such troubles almost never happen with their goods.

The importance of a compact stroller for your family will depend on two unknowns:
- how mobile do you plan to lead after the birth of the baby (and if in a simple way - how often will you put the stroller in the trunk of a car);
- how many meters-centimetres you are ready to give way to the stroller for "living" in the corridor (or another place in the apartment).

Your task is to make the appropriate calculations. And there is always a suitable offer.

Also answer the questions:

Where will the stroller stand, how much space does it take up, is it convenient to put it in and take it out? Is the stroller in the way now?
- Is there a freight or passenger elevator?
Will they help you carry the stroller?
- A place to walk. Here you need to take into account everything: the city, the cottage, the park, are you going to go to the store with a stroller.
- How to fit the baby and stroller in the car?

Stroller weight

The most important factor when choosing strollers is weight, but all strollers for newborns are quite heavy (at least 12 kg), so here you need to be reasonable in your expectations and choice. If your house has an elevator, or you live on the first floor or in a private house, the problem of weight is not acute, but if there is no elevator, you need to understand how you will move the stroller from the apartment to the street.

It’s good if you can leave the stroller at the bottom and fasten it with something to a ladder or radiator, but since this cannot be done in many houses, you need to think about how you will lift the stroller home. Most likely you will need to lift the cradle with the baby separately from the chassis, so in this case we advise you to pay attention to the weight of the cradle and the ability to easily detach the cradle from the chassis, in this case it is better not to consider transformers without the possibility of detaching the cradle at all.

Stroller accessories

Modern strollers come with a wide variety of accessories. Let's list just a few of them.
- hood (awning) . Designed to serve as protection from the sun and precipitation, it should close as much as possible when raised and open as much as possible when lowered. For some modern strollers, the awning is designed in such a way that its lower part can be fixed both at the front (i.e., farthest from the “driver”) and at the rear (i.e., closest to the “driver”) end of the stroller body. This is very convenient when protecting a child from the sun, which strives to penetrate into a shaded, it would seem, stroller when changing its “course”, as well as as it moves across the sky.
- apron. Cover worn over a basket or seat to protect against rain, wind, etc. The apron, together with the awning, should form a cozy and comfortable “house” for the child, in which he does not care about any bad weather.
- rain protection . A cover that is worn on the stroller to protect the child from rain.
- plastic case . Protects from wind, blizzard, rain.
- mosquito net . Flying insect protection.
- luggage basket. It is attached to the chassis, a very convenient thing, because it can withstand quite big weight. The mesh at the bottom of the stroller should be strong and preferably deep. It is very convenient if the stroller is equipped with a bag that is hung on the handle. If there is no such bag, then we advise you to purchase it.
- luggage bag. In modern strollers, it is made of the same material as the body upholstery. Attaches to the handle. It can turn into a pillow, on which it will be softer and more comfortable for mom, say, while away the time on the bench while the baby is sleeping.
- rear footboard. Intended for the second (older) child.
- fur envelope. If in the area where you live, the temperature drops below -5 degrees in winter, you will need a fur envelope. It is desirable that the winter sleeping bag there was no glue base. However, you can do without a fur envelope if you have one at home. old fur coat or a sheepskin coat natural fur. In this case, you need to cut out from the fur coat, separately, a bedding in the stroller and, separately, a fur blanket with which you can cover the child from above. When the baby grows up, these blanks will come in handy for you in a stroller or sled. Also, fur can be put on the swing seat in winter if the child wants to swing.

Where will you use the stroller?

Decide where you will use the stroller - in the city on asphalt, or in nature, on dirt paths. Depends on this: chassis type, depreciation system, wheel parameters. There are, however, universal chassis with adjustable suspension stiffness.

Test drive of the stroller in the store

Having decided on the model of the stroller, do not rush to pay for the purchase. First you need to carefully examine it for defects and, if possible, test it in action - fold-unfold, lift, throw the handle, shake, fasten-unfasten removable parts. Indeed, in the future, the mother will have to do all this practically in "marching" conditions. It is necessary to check whether the wheels "dangle" when driving, whether the stroller is leading to the side, moreover, the pneumatic wheels for this procedure must be inflated.

After payment, you must definitely take a check, which guarantees the buyer in case of hidden defects, change or even return the stroller to the store.

When making a purchase on the Internet, you need to understand that the model you like in the picture may look much more attractive than it actually is. Therefore, it is better to immediately find out the conditions for a return or exchange if the stroller still does not fit. In any case, "virtual" stores are also subject to the rules of trade and the Law on Consumer Protection.
