A lot of things in our homes litter the space, waiting for the moment? when they end up in the trash can. But is it really the only way for them to go? Let's try to look at a faded shirt, a frayed sweater and worn jeans from a new perspective. The ability to create a second life for old things is a whole art, and today we will get acquainted with it.

Pants makeover

If there are a couple of old trousers lying around in the closet, do not try to throw them away. If desired, men's trousers can be easily converted into a stylish women's top.

In such an original image, the attention of those around you will be provided!

What to do with a T-shirt

It is possible and even necessary to give a chance to old and unsightly T-shirts. It's hard to imagine how many ways there are to give a second life to even the most shabby and exhausted t-shirt. Let's take a look at some of the options.

Turning a boring and primitive T-shirt into something interesting and stylish is not such a difficult task, even if you are not friends with a sewing machine. Decor on the back in the form of original incisions, clips, braids and interlacing on the incised back - all this only at first glance seems to be something complicated and impossible. In fact, you do not need special skill and skills.

you own sewing machine Do you know how to thread a needle? Amazing! Then an even wider field of activity opens before you. Add original and unique elements to a plain gray t-shirt and it will become the highlight of your wardrobe.

Create a delicate look from a plain tank top or t-shirt by adding lace and ruffles.

Create a colorful t-shirt appliqué and decorate a gray, boring t-shirt with it. It is created very simply, but it looks extremely original.

Reshape the neckline of your T-shirt with a needle and thread. By gathering the fabric on the chest, you will get a feminine and unusual T-shirt.

Sew a wide ruffle to the bottom edge of the T-shirt, and you will change the boring silhouette of a fitted T-shirt. So you will look much more original.

If the T-shirt is really old and not suitable for wearing, you still should not rush to throw it in the trash. Even from such source material, you can create many bright and interesting things. An original necklace, a stylish bracelet, a handy shopping bag, summer slippers and even a chair rug are all the result of recycling old T-shirts.

Creating an original bag

Do you want to give new life old and worn jeans? Great! Then you have something to sew a new, original bag from!

It is noteworthy that the worn out and older the jeans are, the more interesting and original the result will be.

And, of course, here you can not do without your imagination. The shape, design, decor and decoration of such bags can be very diverse. Sew a baggy bag and line it with bright buttons different sizes. Sew a small bag and decorate the corner with flowers from all the same jeans. Make a bright zipper, add a few bright elements or a colorful application - you will get a stylish, youthful bag for walking with friends. And if you add a trim of linen patches, cotton lace and thin lace, you will get a great accessory for a romantic walk with a friend.

In general, there is only one conclusion - only the number of unnecessary jeans in your closet can limit you.

Varied Options

The Internet is literally replete with an abundance of master classes and lessons on remaking old and boring clothes into something new and original. Something that you will want to wear again. Something that will attract the attention of others with its originality and uniqueness.

Do you have a leather jacket that you definitely won’t wear, but you don’t raise your hand to throw it away? Make it a classy clutch. You just have to find a zipper, but you can also cut it out of an old bag.

Do not under any circumstances throw away old shirt, even if it hurts you to pain. It can be transformed into a delicate, romantic blouse that will sparkle with completely new colors. Just add a piece of lace on the back.

Was there an old jumper on the farthest shelf? It is soft and cozy, so it’s a pity to throw it away, but it’s tired and boring, so you don’t want to wear it? Turn it into a new and original cardigan. You only need beads different colors and sizes.

Toys and their applications

Most often, we keep cute bears, hares and cubs only because they are memorable gifts from people close to us. At first glance, they are useless and bulky things, but with a strong desire, even a lot of old toys can be attached to the benefit of the business.

Make original and cute curtain holders. Soft toy in such an unexpected role will not go unnoticed by your guests.

A lot of hares, bears, ducklings and dogs have accumulated? Great! Come up with a fairy tale with their participation and create the so-called "glove theater". Be sure to involve children in this interesting activity, they will be delighted.

So, we have considered only a few options to give new life to old things. In fact, there are a lot of ways and options. Try it for yourself and you will understand that this is a wildly exciting activity. In addition, it has a huge plus: it does not require investments and even saves the family budget. Experiment and surprise your loved ones!

Video on the topic of the article

Altering clothes is far from a sign of poverty. Although, of course, often such a need arises due to lack of funds for new things. Therefore, old ones are used: worn jeans are repaired or cut off, dresses are sewn from shirts, coats are converted into a jacket, and so on.

But turning one old piece of clothing into another new one is also a creative process. There may be a lot of interesting ideas. And not necessarily these clothes were in a sock. Perhaps the item was bought and did not fit in size. And what cannot be worn as is, can be remade completely into something else, or make changes, decorate.

If not everyone, then many have cut their jeans to shorts. Did you sew a dress out of trousers or jeans? No? Then you don't even know what interesting models may turn out.

We sew a dress from trousers

Method number 1: patches or stripes

It is logical that the trousers are pieces of fabric from which a dress can be cut in the same way as from a whole piece of material. Only it will not be a one-piece model, because we are limited by the cut of trousers.

First, we wash the trousers, if necessary, after they dry, we cut the fabric at the seams without any flaws (abrasions, stains, hooks, holes).

The dress will have to be assembled from small parts. Choose a pattern with details that fit on the cuts from the trousers.

Skinny trousers alone are hardly enough for a dress, unless you are sewing one for a little girl. Therefore, you will have to combine two, or even more. In this case, the fabric should be approximately the same thickness and, of course, combined in color, texture or pattern.

Two-pants dress example

Trousers were used from the same monophonic dense stretch fabric of different colors: black and red. The dress was sewn, so to speak, at random, without a pattern. Other black stretch fabric is used for sleeves, neckline and hem.

1, 2. We cut the seams along the perimeter of the legs. We get 8 pieces of fabric: 4 black, 4 red.

3, 4, 5. We make the middle of the dress red. We cut a strip for the front and back. If the length of the whole piece is not enough, we make it from parts. You can do embroidery.

6, 7. Cut out the side parts of the front. We attach two side parts to the middle part of the front.

8, 9. Draw an armhole line on one side. Cut out. Fold the part in half, circle the armhole on the second part and cut it out. We correct the side line, cut off the excess.

10. Level the bottom.

11. Before the dress is ready.

12. On black stripe we put the middle part of the back of the fabric (overlapped edges), draw around the edge of the middle part.

13. So cut out the two side parts of the back.

14. We sew the middle part of the back with the side ones.

15. We impose on the back in front of the front sides inward, along the front we draw a line of the bottom and armholes on the back.

16. Fold the back in half face inward, draw a side line.

17. The back of the dress is ready.

18, 19. We sweep the back with the front, folding the parts face to face, along the side seams. We measure. We plan surpluses, remove, correct.

20. We cut out the sleeve from unnecessary fabric, tack, measure, adjust.

21. We tear off, cut out according to the markup and get a sleeve pattern. According to these patterns, we already cut out the details from the prepared fabric (4 in total).

22. Sew along one side.

23. We attach to the armhole.

24. Sew the sleeves. Sew them on the bottom.

25. Sew a strip folded in half lengthwise to the neckline. We insert a wide elastic band.

You can also sew a strip of fabric to the bottom of the dress, which is used for the sleeves. Here is a dress made of trousers.

From the stripes, you get such a pretty sundress on a drawstring.

The dress can be sewn according to this principle: cut the pattern into strips, as shown in the figure, then cut these parts out of the trousers.

You can first stitch the canvas from the stripes, and then cut out the details of the dress.

Method number 2: use the top of the trousers as the original part of the dress

Wide trousers or, especially, men's trousers big size give more options. The part with a belt can be used both on top of the dress and on the bottom. See original ideas.

Method number 3: pants and a dress

From very wide knitted trousers on an elastic band, just such, in the leg of which you fit freely, you can sew such a stylish dress.

Everything is done very simply. Put one leg on the body, the other on the arm.

Mark the width of the bottom of the sleeve.

Model the line of the sleeve. Sew from the bottom of the leg to the lower convergence of the middle seams of the pants.

Cut off excess fabric, finish the edge.

We sew a dress from jeans

The simplest dress will turn out if the jeans have a crotch seam and unfold them so that the side seams are in the middle and the crotch seams are on the sides. From above we draw straight lines as in the figure. We sew the seams. Then we customize the figure.

You can also sew canvases from stripes cut from several pairs of jeans. Then, from these canvases, sew a dress.

An interesting dress or cape made of jeans, made using the patchwork method.

The combination of jeans with another fabric will look original.

From one pair of jeans you can sew such a sundress.

To do this, open the middle and step seams. Draw lines as in the photo. Cut along these lines. These pieces will be the middle seams of the front and back. The belt will be at the bottom of the sundress. You can add fabric in the middle.

You can also safely combine different colors of jeans, do not process the armholes and the neck of the dress, make scuffs.

Hello! My name is Sasha Sanochki and I run the Second Street blog dedicated to stylish and creative clothing alterations. Every day I publish 5 new articles on this topic.

I did not personally make all of these alterations without exception. But I've been getting up at 5 a.m. for almost two years every day to find (before work) 5 fresh and interesting ideas for reworking clothes from old to stylish, translate them, process all the photos, make them in the same style, write a post and publish it . In two years they accumulated exactly 3000.

Every day I scroll through about 4,000 sites in the reader in search of materials, and only a third of their materials relate to handmade or fashion - I find the rest of the ideas in gossip columns, style coms, films, clips and even magazines like Forbes sometimes. I just want to have it all in one place.

I would like to show you at least a few of the 3000 ideas that have accumulated over 2 years on the site:

I decided to choose only 5 ideas for each of the popular types of clothing alterations in the last month, because it is difficult to choose from 3000 equally interesting ones). And I tried to choose those that can be shown here, without dragging a bunch of photos with master classes

So let's go:

5 t-shirt redesign ideas

1. Alteration of a vest:

I love alterations of vests). There is nowhere easier: a vest + a bowl of paint for dipping. Looks really cool.)

2. Playing with the texture of the T-shirt:

A long cotton T-shirt can be cut - by cutting out circles, and then washed at high temperature - the sections will twist and will not “creep” (just don’t wring out in a typewriter!). Wear with a dress or leggings and a T-shirt.

3. How to tag a guy:

TeenVogue and designer Erin Fetherston give the idea: put your lips on acrylic paint(fu, disgusting, yeah) - and leave an imprint boldly right at the collar of his T-shirt or shirt. After drying, it remains only to iron it with the hottest possible iron - and your ex-libris on it forever. IMHO, on women's clothing somehow not so good:

... and for men - that's it). A cute idea for faithful and tender lovers and a hot / playful one for notorious machos).

4. Shirt and T-shirt Dress:

What does it mean to combine beautifully)) - take a closer look - after all, the dress is actually a mix of shirts and T-shirts cut and sewn together.

5. T-shirt - blinds:

A $48 tutorial on converting two T-shirts into a sort of blinds T-shirt from Anthropologie can be found on the website, it's too detailed to copy.

5 jeans redesign ideas

1. Jeans from pieces:

I think that such a fit would not be easy to achieve if they were really sewn from pieces. So - most likely, these are thin summer jeans, on which pieces of other summer and thin ones that match in shades were sewn. And then cut off the bottom layer in places. In my opinion, there are only a couple of places where the main fabric up to the knees on top was really replaced in some area with another.

2. Ulyana Kim Dress:

Very beautiful combination of two types of jeans!

3. Isabel Marant Painted Jeans:

Painted jeans idea by Isabel Marant permanent marker in hand - and go!

4. Men's T-shirt and Jeans Makeover:

Listen, well, this, in my opinion, is just wildly cool! Something really interesting and wearable for guys. Yes, for girls too. I think that in this way you can decorate with belts both the bag and the back of the jacket.

As a bonus to the picture - a slightly rocker way to slightly increase the length of the jeans or save those that are worn out on the knees). Although with old, stretched and worn jeans, I think it will look pathetic.

It's better to use both ideas if HE decided to quit his office plankton career and finally become a rock musician. For the first concerts - the most it).

5. Bear from old jeans. Just a bear):

5 shoe redesign ideas:

1. Men's Creative Business Shoes:

It was, yes, it was already 5 times. But in this case, I liked the performance - on strict men's shoes. With a business suit and tie, it should break the patterns of impressionable partners. You say goodbye after the meeting, they leave the table to shake your hand - and, seeing the shoes, they hang) ....

2. Shredded Converse:

Shredded Converse the famous model of sneakers - the legends of the converse family, released last year and ideally suited the hot summer of 2010). They look desperately vintage - shabby, as if crumbling on the go. Ideal for delicate girlish dresses, relaxed knitwear, denim mini shorts and skinny jeans. They became an unusual and stylish alternative to the uniform of Moscow streets - ballet flats, gladiator sandals and sandals with webbed high heels.

The next summer is promised to be just as stuffy, so it makes sense not to throw away your old sneakers, but to repeat this "chip" on your own - at the same time save $ 80 (regular Converses cost from $ 40, and the Shredded model, which is in the photo - $ 120).

Everything is quite simple, take nail scissors - and go ahead, so below I will list only a few tips “essentially” from the source (links to all sources are in the posts on the site):

1. When cutting out the rectangles between the blocks, be sure not to cut the rectangle behind the leg, on the heel. There should be a dense area rectangular shape, conceived by the manufacturer - it is he who will restrain the entire structure in the end.

2. Converse sells these models with or without a laced tongue, depending on the color. Decide which is more convenient for you. If you decide to cut - outline the same semicircle around your fingers (the same depth) as on your favorite ballet flats - and cut boldly. It should be 1-1.5 cm wide - wider than the “rubber nose” of the sneaker. It will look like this:

3. It is convenient to make “dranina” along the cuts just with your fingers. Rub the edges well between your fingers as shown in the photo below. the lining of the converse frays more than the upper colored dense fabric - therefore it is better not to rub it, only the upper paint layer - it will quickly unravel to the width of the upper layer.

3. How to decorate men's shoes thorns, but nobly:

In this case, one shoe would completely subdue me (especially if a casual jacket is on top).

4. Painting shoes with markers and paints:

Great shoe decor idea by artist Deborah Thomson. Deborah uses popular techniques with tattoo designs on shoes, and paints wedding shoes, etc. and so on.

5. Shoes with Painted Soles:

The original move is not to paint the shoes themselves, but only their soles. It does not bend as much as shoe socks, for example - which means that the paint in these places will not crack. Provided high heels - and it will be seen well. For example, I always notice yellow price tags on shoes that are not torn off in these places when I follow someone along the path)).

5 Dress Up Ideas

1. Constructor: Sports Tank Back & Sexy Dress:

In my opinion, very cool! In front, for sure, is the standard "sexy kitty" - and when you turn your back - you show the world the other side of yourself - athletic and perky). And the difference in color only emphasizes it.

The jumper on top - in my opinion, looks like a strap from a cheap sports backpack)).

2. Dress with slits:

A beautiful texture and a way to revive an old dress with a second one thrown over the top. On the top dress, if it is made of acetate silk, the pattern can be "burned out" with a standard wood burner. We burned whole lace collars to each other at needlework lessons at school.

3. Luminous Paints:

Remember, earlier at VDNH, for example, in the pavilion "Culture", luminous paints for fabric were sold in departments with various luminous nonsense? In such small round plastic tubes. In addition, they are often found in various stalls, especially for some reason near the railway station).

Here's what happens if you paint clothes with them:

One of my friends used such tubes (of different colors) to paint a paisley dress with such luminous colors with such luminous colors. I just put dots of different colors along the contour of different cucumbers. Since during the day this paint is translucent, and she chose the color (and the dress is motley) - during the day it was completely unnoticeable. And at night it was a bomb! It looked very even - not at all vulgar, as elegant as possible - apparently due to the subtlety of the drawing.

4. Decorate a simple dress:

Zebra - not a zebra, a mask - not a mask ... in general, like this, with the help of an appliqué, an ordinary white trapeze dress was given an almost mystical look.

5. NedoBeckham reworked turtleneck dress by Joseph Altuzarra.

A promising new designer is Jezzef Altuzarra and his idea (he clearly sympathizes with Victoria Beckham and her models) to remake a sweater dress:

You will need:
Turtleneck in cotton jersey dress (they used American Apparel).
Two shoulder pads.
Scissors, needles and threads.

The recipe for “feel a little Wicca” is simple:

Cut off the sleeves so as to leave a little "wings" at an angle.

With the rest of the sleeves, we tighten the overhead "shoulders" on one side.

We hem them from the inside to the dress, at the same time slightly bending the edges.

5 ideas for altering jackets

1. This jacket costs $ 410 - and pins in the right amount - 500-700 rubles. And every second person has a Chanel-style jacket;).

2. The idea of altering the jacket from the 2011 lookbook by Junky Styling.

3. Sheer Back Blazer:

Jacket, part of the back of which was replaced with a transparent insert. In the showroom, the top of the jacket consisted of two parts, one on top of the other: when altering your jacket, you can simply cut it off and sew on the inside of the transparent fabric pleated, sewing it into the side seams:

By the way, did you pay attention to the decor of the trousers with a ribbon?

4. Another Zara Coat:

Zara seems to have finally remembered where they started and began to do “sharp” things again. Another Zara coat in my collections is another confirmation of this.

The original reverse side of the collar - usually the skin is sewn there (besides, it allows you to keep the collar "raised" - for example, I just go like that). It can be made from a beautiful tie) - here, it seems, this is done.

5 shirt makeover ideas:

1. ASOS.com shirt redesign idea:

2. Pants - saruel from a shirt:

Shirt alteration. If everything is clear with the topic (everything was cut off at the level of pockets and on an elastic band) - then an explanation for how to make panties a la "saruel" from a shirt- see under the cut:

source material).

Having outlined a semicircle, we make a collar along it.

We steam the pockets carefully - they will interfere with the material of the shirt to drape plastically.

As a result, it should turn out like this (after you sew the hole in place of the collar):

At the waist, the design is regulated by a knot).

3. Unusually "dirty" shirt:

Brilliant, unusually soiled shirt)! In a bright cage - turquoise - purple - I will definitely repeat for myself. It will be enough, I think, to dip 6/8 into black paint on a Dylon-type fabric (it does not need to be heated, boiled, and other perversions).

4. An elegant way to downsize a shirt:

5. Hybrid:

Hybrid GMO shirts and sweatshirts from Hussein Chalayan.

5 accessories ideas

1. 0_o suddenly!

Chain on a garter for stockings.

2. Congenial Clutch:

One of the few easy-to-sew clutch bags, which only benefits from ease of manufacture. And the pattern of such a clutch is nowhere simpler and is sold in every second store - just today I bought croissants in Azbuka Vkusa, for example) - in a craft package perfect size under this case.

3. Ring Bracelet:

If you have been offered 8 times and you have never returned the ring back, you can make a bracelet out of them and wear it proudly, like a savage woman, a necklace from the scalps of defeated enemies. Well, like how they draw stars on planes for those shot down in battle).

4. Shoulder straps on the coat:

To make such leather shoulder straps on a coat, leather from one glove will be enough. Another thing is that they need to be “supported” with something then - for example, with a belt made of the same leather texture.

5. Bags and backpacks from leather jackets:

We wrote many times about bags made from old leather jackets. But personally, I adore, firstly, backpacks, and secondly, such a simplified, a la masculine, style in bags:

I couldn't even choose what to show you - I liked everything so much! And the prices are quite real, not overpriced.

and for a snack 5 interior ideas:

1. T-shirt rugs:

Laura is a seamstress with more than 20 years of experience and great taste. That is why she managed to build a successful business on what many are trying to make money on: recycling T-shirts from second-hand stores into carpets and rugs.

Laura's rugs always attract attention with subtle color combinations and original shapes. 20 photos - under the cut (and there you will also find a link to the photo - a master - class on crocheting a similar rug - the main thing is there - it’s clear how to hide the ends by tying cut T-shirts together). Laura herself, in my opinion, weaves them with pigtails, after which she painstakingly sews the pigtails together ( I would like to know with what machine or foot she manages to take such a thickness). It takes her 3-4 months to make one rug out of T-shirts.

2. How to decorate the wall with old magazines:

Idea by extra budget wall decor from Irina: these strips are simply folded into tubes and flattened magazine pages pasted onto the base.

Moreover, you can decorate in this way not only the wall, but also the vases:

And photo frames:

3. Bears - pillows from shirts:

Annika Jermyn makes teddy bears out of old shirts and calls them Mr._ then the individual name of each _ and sells for $75. You can even order from your own shirt. The toys are large - 40 centimeters high and 48 - wide.

4. Pillows with interesting textures:

handmade cushion with brilliant texture. For such laborious work and $ 265 is not a pity.

Although this one, for $110, a pillow with a British flag made of leather, is no worse.

5. Cool dude, yo! Mr. Ben Venom sews patchwork quilts from old T-shirts with prints in the spirit of Heavy Metal - in the same style. For connoisseurs, so to speak).

In general, I invite you all to visit the "Second Street", who are interested in the topic of alterations in clothing or interior)).

PS. Lastly, we have contests going on there, participate with your ideas, the prizes will be good)!

Fashionable baby: TOP-3 ways to sew a denim sundress (diagram, video). How to sew a denim sundress for a girl from old jeans

Probably, every mother wants to please her little princess with a new thing. But, unfortunately, the family budget is not rubber and the purchase of new things often has to be postponed until later.

In this article, we want to talk about how to sew a denim sundress for your little one with our own hands and not spend a dime.

Since we started talking about decorative elements and finishing of the product, it is impossible not to mention the seams. After you sew a sundress, you can start up the finishing line, for example, using a zigzag. Threads for these purposes are better to take bright colors - red, green, blue. Sew along the bottom and walk along the upper contours of the sundress and be sure not to forget about the straps. Also a great decor for a denim sundress is a fringe. Fortunately, it will be easy enough to make it out of jeans. To do this, you need not to trim the edge, but, on the contrary, to dishevel it well. Various button rivets of different sizes and shapes can also be a highlight for a sundress. Sew them on your pocket or choose any other place you like.

Another option for finishing a sundress is to combine denim with a material of a different texture. It can be a bright chintz, a satin fabric with a small print, or a plain fabric. Trim the edges of the product with a strip of fabric, you can also use braid.

What to wear with a denim sundress for a girl?

New life for old jeans - a fashionable sundress for a girl and other interesting ideas

Handmade has long been in vogue, and craftswomen never cease to amaze us. All handmade products are as practical, bright and original as possible. They fit perfectly on their owners, because they were cut precisely based on their own measurements, and, as a rule, they are complemented by an unusual decor. They are simply designed to evoke replicas of admiration from others.

One of the most popular hand-made models is a children's denim sundress. This product has a lot of advantages:

  • Comfortable, durable and wearable.

Denim sundress for a girl - sew it yourself

So, let's start with the materials that we need. As a basis, any old jeans of adult family members will do. As a rule, areas in the knee area are most subject to wear, so we will take the lower part. If the color of the trousers is not as intense as you would like, you can re-dye the fabric by dipping it in a dye designed for this purpose.

Many lovers of denim, on the contrary, prefer a slight wear of the material. This effect can be achieved in the following way. Wet jeans should be intensively rubbed with a hard clothes brush in those places where you would like to see a slight wear. Be careful, if the fabric is not very dense, do not put much effort. If the material, on the contrary, is dense and hard, then you can use a piece of ordinary pumice stone instead of a brush. So, we talked about what to sew from, and now we will return to the discussion of the question of how to do it.

Pattern for a sundress and its decoration

Cut out patterns from paper.

We cut off pieces of the trousers, rip them apart and proceed to the pattern of the sundress. In order to simplify your work, take your daughter's dress and fold it in half along the length of the product, and transfer the pattern to the jeans ready for cutting, making allowances of a couple of centimeters. If you want the length of the sundress to be adjustable, then we suggest sewing on thin straps that will be fixed with buttons. They can be sewn straight or placed crosswise behind the back. Thus, by altering the buttons, you can change the length of the product.

By the way, back pockets from adult jeans can successfully migrate to a sarafan. Position them in front on both sides of the product, or make one pocket in front. In both the first and second cases, we recommend decorating the pockets with decorative embroidery or original appliqué. You can buy a ready-made patch, or you can make a figurine of a fairy-tale character on your own or together with a little fashionista.

We sew the front sides inward in front and back of the sundress. Next - turn the two parts on the face. We sew the sides and bottom of the sundress with a zig-zag seam. We insert buttons on the shoulder (or sew on a button and an eyelet).

  • The cut product in shape should resemble an ordinary kitchen apron.
  • Make cutouts if necessary.
  • Now you can proceed to the general assembly of the sundress.
  • From the remnants of the fabric, make straps by sewing long strips of material with a finishing seam and tacking them in the right places to the product.
  • Fasten them with buttons.
  • Do not forget about the periodic fitting, which will make the children's denim sundress as comfortable as possible.
  • If necessary, adjust it in some places.

Everything - the sundress is ready! Firstly, it is warm, and secondly - if guests come to you, and the sundress is dirty, then it is enough to turn it inside out - and your child is in a new sundress.

And here are some more interesting models for your imagination to fly:

You still have scraps, why throw them away if there are still a lot of interesting and practical ideas? Create!

Important! When painting, remember that repainting light colors into darker and brighter ones will not be a problem, but vice versa - it is unlikely to work.

Some prefer worn material. This effect can be achieved if wet jeans are intensively rubbed with a stiff clothes brush in the right places.

Important! If the fabric is not very dense, then do not rub too hard, or you will simply tear the jeans. And if the material is dense, then you can even arm yourself with pumice.

Important! Before you start shredding old jeans, keep in mind that such a sundress is worn with T-shirts, turtlenecks, so it should be somewhat looser than the dress taken for the pattern.

Let's get to work:

  • We cut off pieces of trousers, rip them apart and begin to cut a sundress.
  • We take the dress, fold it in half lengthwise and transfer the pattern to the prepared jeans.
  • We make allowances of several centimeters. We should get two parts - front and back. This is the body of the sundress.
  • We sew straps, for them we cut out two rectangles approximately 8 by 27 cm, each of which is sewn from the wrong side.
  • Then turn it right side out and sew the edges.

Important! Now the length of the sundress can be adjusted. These straps can be sewn straight or crosswise.

  • Back pockets from old jeans can migrate to your sundress. They can be placed in front on both sides or make one pocket in the middle.

Important! The edges of the pockets and shoulder straps can be finished with decorative stitching in bright threads. The same line can be put in the center of each strap.

  • Sew the straps to the base of the sundress. Two rows of buttons can be sewn on for a more comfortable length adjustment.

We decorate a new thing:

  • You can decorate your sarafan with embroidery or appliqué with your favorite fairy tale character. On sale there is a large selection of various stripes, stickers.
  • You can arm yourself with imagination and come up with your own application, even better - do it together with your young fashionista. Such a sundress will be worn for a long time, and a self-made decor will be the pride of a young designer.
  • Fringe will perfectly help to decorate such a sundress from old jeans with your own hands. It is very easy to make it from denim. To do this, the trimmed edge must be thoroughly disheveled.
  • Various rivets or colored buttons can be sewn on the pockets.
  • Another option for finishing a sundress is to combine denim with another material. For example, with chintz or satin fabric. Just choose materials of bright colors for this.

We sew interesting sundresses or alterations from old jeans

Hello! Today I suggest everyone to cut jeans to sew summer sundress using the top of old jeans. No special sewing skills are needed, the main thing here is fantasy and desire!

Master class №1

What was given: a hundred-year-old jeans + a piece of cloth with roses, bought for as much as 30 UAH. in Odessa on the 7th km a few years ago, and lace won in some kind of competition. The result was a sundress "Young Lady-Peasant Woman"! Cheap and cheerful, saving on the face :)

It was - became:

Do not forget the helper-assistant in the form of a pet, you can't do without it :) I have a Glasha toy terrier. As soon as the fabrics are laid out on the floor, she is right there, and it is quite problematic to drive her away, growls and snaps :)

The idea for this alteration was this photo, caught on the net. I don’t know who the author is (I looked for the picture, it was sold on etsy, but the work has already been deleted). In general, this idea inspired me a lot, got me started :)

To begin with, I cut off the jeans and attached the fabric to see an approximate picture of what I wanted ... In the process, everything changed a little, of course :)

A visual aid on how I cut jeans. I think the picture is clear. I made tucks in front in the chest area for a better fit. I thought about stopping at this option, but then “Ostap suffered”, as they say, lace was used ...

I wanted pockets, but since the fabric of my skirt is quite thin, I had to reject the idea with sewn-on pockets ... But you still need a pocket, where to hide the phone? I came up with such a hinged pocket (it is worn, if necessary, on a strap).

All is ready! Front view

Back view

By the way, on a cool evening, a ready-made denim boleroshka came in (it came up to a sundress in such a way that everything seemed to be thought of under it).

I'll show you one more option ... This is my cousin in Chisinau who was inspired and sculpted tonight :) Cool combination, right?

In general, arm yourself with scissors and imagination, and go ahead, for the cause!

Master class №2

And I want to show you another option for converting old jeans into a sundress. Last time for the bodice of the sundress, the jeans were turned upside down, today everything will be different. This time, my imagination in the process of sewing played out in earnest :) From this photo you can see how everything changed in the end (the first option was planned as before, but became the back of a sundress)

Now, get down to business! By tradition, the photograph is from the “Before and Now” series. In general, there was a piece of fabric, lace, and, in fact, old jeans. To qualified experienced seamstresses, please do not swear :) Yes, I know that I violate all sewing technologies, but this is how the assembly of the sundress seemed to me the most convenient.

The sarafan turned out, of course, already so strange ... but if you really want to finish off those around you, you can also unbutton your pocket :)

I drew a diagram of how to cut jeans

Like last time, the sundress was cut without patterns, by eye. I cut out two such details from the trousers. I sewed a lace fabric on one of them. I sewed the back pocket of the jeans to the back, the front pocket - to the front, I just swept above the lower cut of the main part (I wanted the pocket to be functional in the end)

In the process, lace was also asked for on the front pocket :) I sewed the side seams. The upper parts of the front and back were processed for the straps of the sundress. The strap is one whole.

At this stage, it seemed to me that something was missing ... Therefore, the belt of the jeans was cut off and sewn upside down to the details of the top of the sundress, while the cuts were hidden under the pockets

The skirt consists of two rectangles of the main fabric, one lower rectangle is made of lace fabric, and a piece of denim insert (it seemed to me that this way the skirt would be better “connected” with the denim top of the sundress. The seam is one, on the side, stitched together with the front pocket in the very end of work.

Next - a drawstring (it seems to be called that, but I do not exclude errors) in the details of the back. Initially, the elastic was not planned there, but the sundress turned out to be wider than planned, so this came up with this :) Everything is simple here - a rectangle of fabric is sewn on the wrong side of the back and an elastic is worn. In order not to bulge, I laid another line in the middle

That's all the difficulties :) Sundress can be walked :)

I hope you enjoyed it :)

Have a nice day and good mood!

Description

Handmade has long been in vogue, and craftswomen never cease to amaze us. All handmade products are as practical, bright and original as possible. They fit perfectly on their owners, because they were cut precisely based on their own measurements, and, as a rule, they are complemented by an unusual decor. They are simply designed to evoke replicas of admiration from others. One of the most popular hand-made models is a children's denim sundress. This product has a lot of advantages:

  • Allows you to realize all your imagination.
  • Comfortable, durable and wearable.
  • Very economical in terms of financial costs.
  • Pairs well with other wardrobe items.
  • The sewing process takes a minimum of time.
  • Another way to please a little fashionista with a new stylish new thing.

Types of models

Children's denim sundresses for girls are now presented in a huge assortment. All models are bright and stylish, each is good in its own way. Jeans are breathable, which means that the child in such clothes will feel comfortable. Having decided on the choice of style, it remains to replenish stocks with the necessary accessories. Now you can proceed directly to the tailoring of the product. Sundress can be:

  • classic - the most simple cut and a minimum of decoration;
  • trapezoidal - for convenience and speed of movement;
  • with straps, on buttons or clasps - easy to use;
  • flared - with fluffy skirt cut "tulip" or "sun", especially good with lace trim;
  • bright - decorated with various decorative elements.

Convenience always remains a priority for kids, which means that it is better to give preference to models of a simple cut, because they are universal and practical.

Material selection

Handmade craftswomen recommend making patterns for children's denim sundresses as simple as possible, especially if you are sewing them for the first time. For work, you can use ordinary old jeans. Based on the needs of the child, you should decide on the density of the material. For a more ceremonial exit, it is better to choose a thinner fabric, and in everyday wear, classic denim showed itself perfectly, from which the first tight and high-quality jeans were once sewn.

Sewing preparation

Everyone has old jeans (the flared version is especially good in this case). Having cut off the top and carefully ripped the legs at the seams, we get an almost ready-made children's denim sundress. In this case, the side seam of the legs will become decorative trim, which will pass through the center of the front and back of the finished product. Before starting work, prepare all the necessary material in advance:

  1. Jeans, the girth of the finished product will depend on their size, so you need to take a model for adults.
  2. Sharp scissors, preferably tailor's, as they are long and capable of cutting thick double seams.
  3. Buttons and strong threads in the color of the product.
  4. Decorative elements - beads, shreds of bright fabric, lace or rhinestones.

simple model

You can make a children's denim sundress with your own hands using the simplest pattern for an apron. The classic model of our product is very similar to it in style.

  1. Prepare your jeans by cutting off the top with sharp scissors.
  2. Spread the remaining legs at the seams, you get two even or slightly flared rectangles to the bottom (depending on the model of trousers - classic or flared).
  3. First you need to grind them to get a solid canvas.
  4. Now spread it on a flat surface and proceed to cutting (the width of the product corresponds to the circumference of the child's waist + seam allowances, the length is measured from the chest, taking into account future straps).
  5. The cut product in shape should resemble an ordinary kitchen apron. Make cutouts if necessary. Now you can proceed to the general assembly of the sundress.
  6. Jeans do not require mandatory processing of the extreme seams and, if desired, they can be left open.
  7. From the remnants of the fabric, make straps by sewing long strips of material with a finishing seam and tacking them in the right places to the product. Fasten them with buttons.
  8. Do not forget about the periodic fitting, which will make the children's denim sundress as comfortable as possible. If necessary, adjust it in some places.
  9. If everything is fine and the child approved the quality of tailoring, you can proceed to its design.

Reversible sundress

This similar model is simple in its execution, suitable for beginner craftswomen, but has its own zest - the reverse bright side. For work, we need all of the above materials and a piece of colorful multi-colored chintz.

  1. Prepare your jeans, unzip them, stitch along the seams. Be sure to make sure that the decorative seam is on the front of the product.
  2. Make a pattern in the form of an apron from denim and exactly the same from chintz.
  3. Connect the pieces together by laying one on top of the other and stitching them along the edges. You will get a two-sided product, which must be sewn with a neat double seam on the back.
  4. Chintz is distinguished by its "flowability", so the edges of such a sundress require mandatory processing.
  5. It remains to sew straps to it and decorate with decorative details.

Finishes and accessories

Children's denim sundresses (photos of options are presented above) are universal in every way. They can be supplemented convenient pockets(pre-repulse them from jeans), decorate with a bright border along the edge of the hem or embroider the straps with beads. Bright fabric flowers look very good on such products, which are easy to make on your own.

So, let's sew a denim sundress!

Pattern making and cutting

  • old jeans;
  • album sheet;
  • T-shirt;
  • tailor's chalk, pencil;
  • ruler;
  • 2 buttons, 2 clasps;
  • pins;
  • threads.
  • We lay out the T-shirt on the landscape sheet. Fold the shirt in half, then fold the top of the shirt in half.

Circle the armhole lines with a pencil, outline the lines of the middle and the top seam. Add 2 cm along the chest line.

We divide the pattern into three parts:

    • detail 1 - turning the top of the product;
    • detail 2 - the middle of the front and back;
    • detail 3 - the side part of the sundress.

Uncover the following number of parts:

    • side part of the product - 4 pcs;
    • the middle of the front and back - 2 pcs;
    • turning the top of the product - 2 pcs;
    • pocket 1 piece;
    • straps - 2 pcs.

Lay your jeans out on a flat surface. To begin with, we cut part 2 - 4 pcs. Don't forget the seam allowances!

Then we cut the middle of the front and back. There is only half of the detail on the pattern. You need to fold the fabric along the floors and cut out the part.

We cut the facing of the top. The top facing pattern is also only half. You need to fold the fabric in half.

Finish the edge of the pocket first. The edge can be processed with a double needle, multi-colored threads.

Then sew it to the middle of the front.

Sew the side parts with the middle of the front. Seams can also be processed with a double needle. We do the same with the back. We sew 2 straps.

We sew the back and front of the product with each other. We pin the straps with needles to the top of the front closer to the middle

Attach the front side of the facing of the top to the front side of the product. Make sure the side seams match up. Sew details. Finish the seams and iron.

Sew the side seams of the facing and the product itself with each other so that the facing does not bulge and does not interfere.

Sew buttons (buttons) to the sundress, fasteners to the straps.
