Remake a knitted cardigan. How to change an adult sweater into a children's cardigan

Hello! My name is Sasha Sanochki and I run the Second Street blog dedicated to stylish and creative clothing alterations. Every day I publish 5 new articles on this topic.

I did not personally make all of these alterations without exception. But for almost two years every day, I get up at 5 am to find (before work) 5 fresh and interesting ideas on altering clothes from old to stylish, transfer them, process all the photos, making them in the same style, write a post and publish it. In two years they accumulated exactly 3000.

Every day I scroll through about 4,000 sites in the reader in search of materials, and only a third of their materials relate to handmade or fashion - I find the rest of the ideas in gossip columns, style coms, films, clips and even magazines like Forbes sometimes. I just want to have it all in one place.

I would like to show you at least a few of the 3000 ideas that have accumulated over 2 years on the site:

I decided to choose only 5 ideas for each of the popular types of clothing alterations in the last month, because it is difficult to choose from 3000 equally interesting ones). And I tried to choose those that can be shown here, without dragging a bunch of photos with master classes

So let's go:

5 t-shirt redesign ideas

1. Alteration of a vest:

I love alterations of vests). There is nowhere easier: a vest + a bowl of paint for dipping. Looks really cool.)

2. Playing with the texture of the T-shirt:

A long cotton T-shirt can be cut - by cutting out circles, and then washed at high temperature - the sections will twist and will not “creep” (just don’t wring out in a typewriter!). Wear with a dress or leggings and a T-shirt.

3. How to tag a guy:

TeenVogue and designer Erin Fetherston give the idea: put your lips on acrylic paint(fu, disgusting, yeah) - and leave an imprint boldly right at the collar of his T-shirt or shirt. After drying, it remains only to iron it with the hottest possible iron - and your ex-libris on it forever. IMHO, on women's clothing somehow not so good:

... and for men - that's it). A cute idea for faithful and tender lovers and a hot / playful one for notorious machos).

4. Shirt and T-shirt Dress:

What does it mean to combine beautifully)) - take a closer look - after all, the dress is actually a mix of shirts and T-shirts cut and sewn together.

5. T-shirt - blinds:

A $48 tutorial on converting two T-shirts into a sort of blinds T-shirt from Anthropologie can be found on the website, it's too detailed to copy.

5 jeans redesign ideas

1. Jeans from pieces:

I think that such a fit would not be easy to achieve if they were really sewn from pieces. So - most likely, these are thin summer jeans, on which pieces of other summer and thin ones that match in shades were sewn. And then cut off the bottom layer in places. In my opinion, there are only a couple of places where the main fabric up to the knees on top was really replaced in some area with another.

2. Ulyana Kim Dress:

Very beautiful combination of two types of jeans!

3. Isabel Marant Painted Jeans:

Painted jeans idea by Isabel Marant permanent marker in hand - and go!

4. Men's T-shirt and Jeans Makeover:

Listen, well, this, in my opinion, is just wildly cool! Something really interesting and wearable for guys. Yes, for girls too. I think that in this way you can decorate with belts both the bag and the back of the jacket.

As a bonus to the picture - a slightly rocker way to slightly increase the length of the jeans or save those that are worn out on the knees). Although with old, stretched and worn jeans, I think it will look pathetic.

It's better to use both ideas if HE decided to quit his office plankton career and finally become a rock musician. For the first concerts - the most it).

5. Bear from old jeans. Just a bear):

5 shoe redesign ideas:

1. Men's Creative Business Shoes:

It was, yes, it was already 5 times. But in this case, I liked the performance - on strict men's shoes. With a business suit and tie, it should break the patterns of impressionable partners. You say goodbye after the meeting, they leave the table to shake your hand - and, seeing the shoes, they hang) ....

2. Shredded Converse:

Shredded Converse the famous model of sneakers - the legends of the converse family, released last year and ideally suited the hot summer of 2010). They look desperately vintage - shabby, as if crumbling on the go. Ideal for delicate girlish dresses, relaxed knitwear, denim mini shorts and skinny jeans. They became an unusual and stylish alternative to the uniform of Moscow streets - ballet flats, gladiator sandals and sandals with webbed high heels.

The next summer is promised to be just as stuffy, so it makes sense not to throw away your old sneakers, but to repeat this "chip" on your own - at the same time save $ 80 (regular Converses cost from $ 40, and the Shredded model, which is in the photo - $ 120).

Everything is quite simple, take nail scissors - and go ahead, so below I will list only a few tips “essentially” from the source (links to all sources are in the posts on the site):

1. When cutting out the rectangles between the blocks, be sure not to cut the rectangle behind the leg, on the heel. There should be a dense area rectangular shape, conceived by the manufacturer - it is he who will restrain the entire structure in the end.

2. Converse sells these models with or without a laced tongue, depending on the color. Decide which is more convenient for you. If you decide to cut - outline the same semicircle around your fingers (the same depth) as on your favorite ballet flats - and cut boldly. It should be 1-1.5 cm wide - wider than the “rubber nose” of the sneaker. It will look like this:

3. It is convenient to make “dranina” along the cuts just with your fingers. Rub the edges well between your fingers as shown in the photo below. the lining of the converse frays more than the upper colored dense fabric - therefore it is better not to rub it, only the upper paint layer - it will quickly unravel to the width of the upper layer.

3. How to decorate men's shoes thorns, but nobly:

In this case, one shoe would completely subdue me (especially if a casual jacket is on top).

4. Painting shoes with markers and paints:

Great shoe decor idea by artist Deborah Thomson. Deborah uses popular techniques with tattoo designs on shoes, and paints wedding shoes, etc. and so on.

5. Shoes with Painted Soles:

The original move is not to paint the shoes themselves, but only their soles. It does not bend as much as shoe socks, for example - which means that the paint in these places will not crack. Provided high heels - and it will be seen well. For example, I always notice yellow price tags on shoes that are not torn off in these places when I follow someone along the path)).

5 Dress Up Ideas

1. Constructor: Sports Tank Back & Sexy Dress:

In my opinion, very cool! In front, for sure, is the standard "sexy kitty" - and when you turn your back - you show the world the other side of yourself - athletic and perky). And the difference in color only emphasizes it.

The jumper on top - in my opinion, looks like a strap from a cheap sports backpack)).

2. Dress with slits:

A beautiful texture and a way to revive an old dress with a second one thrown over the top. On the top dress, if it is made of acetate silk, the pattern can be "burned out" with a standard wood burner. We burned whole lace collars to each other at needlework lessons at school.

3. Luminous Paints:

Remember, earlier at VDNH, for example, in the pavilion "Culture", luminous paints for fabric were sold in departments with various luminous nonsense? In such small round plastic tubes. In addition, they are often found in various stalls, especially for some reason near the railway station).

Here's what happens if you paint clothes with them:

One of my girlfriends with such tubes ( different colors) painted a paisley dress with such luminous colors. I just put dots of different colors along the contour of different cucumbers. Since during the day this paint is translucent, and she chose the color (and the dress is motley) - during the day it was completely unnoticeable. And at night it was a bomb! It looked very even - not at all vulgar, as elegant as possible - apparently due to the subtlety of the drawing.

4. Decorate a simple dress:

Zebra - not a zebra, a mask - not a mask ... in general, like this, with the help of an appliqué, an ordinary white trapeze dress was given an almost mystical look.

5. NedoBeckham reworked turtleneck dress by Joseph Altuzarra.

A promising new designer is Jezzef Altuzarra and his idea (he clearly sympathizes with Victoria Beckham and her models) to remake a sweater dress:

You will need:
Turtleneck in cotton jersey dress (they used American Apparel).
Two shoulder pads.
Scissors, needles and threads.

The recipe for “feel a little Wicca” is simple:

Cut off the sleeves so as to leave a little "wings" at an angle.

With the rest of the sleeves, we tighten the overhead "shoulders" on one side.

We hem them from the inside to the dress, at the same time slightly bending the edges.

5 ideas for altering jackets

1. This jacket costs $ 410 - and pins in the right amount - 500-700 rubles. And every second person has a Chanel-style jacket;).

2. The idea of altering the jacket from the 2011 lookbook by Junky Styling.

3. Sheer Back Blazer:

Jacket, part of the back of which was replaced with a transparent insert. In the showroom, the top of the jacket consisted of two parts, one on top of the other: when altering your jacket, you can simply cut it off and sew on the inside of the transparent fabric pleated, sewing it into the side seams:

By the way, did you pay attention to the decor of the trousers with a ribbon?

4. Another Zara Coat:

Zara seems to have finally remembered where they started and began to do “sharp” things again. Another Zara coat in my collections is another confirmation of this.

The original reverse side of the collar - usually the skin is sewn there (besides, it allows you to keep the collar "raised" - for example, I just go like that). It can be made from a beautiful tie) - here, it seems, this is done.

5 shirt makeover ideas:

1. ASOS.com shirt redesign idea:

2. Pants - saruel from a shirt:

Shirt alteration. If everything is clear with the topic (everything was cut off at the level of pockets and on an elastic band) - then an explanation for how to make panties a la "saruel" from a shirt- see under the cut:

source material).

Having outlined a semicircle, we make a collar along it.

We steam the pockets carefully - they will interfere with the material of the shirt to drape plastically.

As a result, it should turn out like this (after you sew the hole in place of the collar):

At the waist, the design is regulated by a knot).

3. Unusually "dirty" shirt:

Brilliant, unusually soiled shirt)! In a bright cage - turquoise - purple - I will definitely repeat for myself. It will be enough, I think, to dip 6/8 into black paint on a Dylon-type fabric (it does not need to be heated, boiled, and other perversions).

4. An elegant way to downsize a shirt:

5. Hybrid:

Hybrid GMO shirts and sweatshirts from Hussein Chalayan.

5 accessories ideas

1. 0_o suddenly!

Chain on a garter for stockings.

2. Congenial Clutch:

One of the few easy-to-sew clutch bags, which only benefits from ease of manufacture. And the pattern of such a clutch is nowhere simpler and is sold in every second store - just today I bought croissants in Azbuka Vkusa, for example) - in a craft package perfect size under this case.

3. Ring Bracelet:

If you have been offered 8 times and you have never returned the ring back, you can make a bracelet out of them and wear it proudly, like a savage woman, a necklace from the scalps of defeated enemies. Well, like how they draw stars on planes for those shot down in battle).

4. Shoulder straps on the coat:

To make such leather shoulder straps on a coat, leather from one glove will be enough. Another thing is that they need to be “supported” with something then - for example, with a belt made of the same leather texture.

5. Bags and backpacks from leather jackets:

We wrote many times about bags made from old leather jackets. But personally, I adore, firstly, backpacks, and secondly, such a simplified, a la masculine, style in bags:

I couldn't even choose what to show you - I liked everything so much! And the prices are quite real, not overpriced.

and for a snack 5 interior ideas:

1. T-shirt rugs:

Laura is a seamstress with more than 20 years of experience and great taste. That is why she managed to build a successful business on what many are trying to make money on: recycling T-shirts from second-hand stores into carpets and rugs.

Laura's rugs always attract attention with subtle color combinations and original shapes. 20 photos - under the cut (and there you will also find a link to the photo - a master - class on crocheting a similar rug - the main thing is there - it’s clear how to hide the ends by tying cut T-shirts together). Laura herself, in my opinion, weaves them with pigtails, after which she painstakingly sews the pigtails together ( I would like to know with what machine or foot she manages to take such a thickness). It takes her 3-4 months to make one rug out of T-shirts.

2. How to decorate the wall with old magazines:

Idea by extra budget wall decor from Irina: these strips are simply folded into tubes and flattened magazine pages pasted onto the base.

Moreover, you can decorate in this way not only the wall, but also the vases:

And photo frames:

3. Bears - pillows from shirts:

Annika Jermyn makes teddy bears out of old shirts and calls them Mr._ then the individual name of each _ and sells for $75. You can even order from your own shirt. The toys are large - 40 centimeters high and 48 - wide.

4. Pillows with interesting textures:

handmade cushion with brilliant texture. For such laborious work and $ 265 is not a pity.

Although this one, for $110, a pillow with a British flag made of leather, is no worse.

5. Cool dude, yo! Mr. Ben Venom sews patchwork quilts from old T-shirts with prints in the spirit of Heavy Metal - in the same style. For connoisseurs, so to speak).

In general, I invite you all to visit the "Second Street", who are interested in the topic of alterations in clothing or interior)).

PS. Lastly, we have contests going on there, participate with your ideas, the prizes will be good)!

If you have a sweater that for some reason you don’t need, is new or well-preserved, Irina’s master class will show how you can easily remake it into cardigan for a 2-3 year old child. For this, it’s not even necessary, you can sew everything on your hands.

For work you will need:

  • adult sweater,
  • Detachable zipper, length about 35-40 cm,
  • Thread, needle, scissors,
  • Jacket-sample (according to the size of the child).

We alter the sweater into a children's cardigan

To remake, you need to put the sweater in order, which means washing and ironing, as well as cleaning off the “pellets”, if any, using a typewriter or blade. When you're done, lay the sweater out on a flat surface.

Put a child’s thing on top to evaluate what, where and how much to cut. It is important to match the neck of your sweater with the neck of the baby sweater.

When everything is marked, take large scissors and cut off the excess length and width. Do not forget about allowances and stock. The photo shows that the length of the cardigan will be longer than the sample sweatshirt, the width will also be larger.

After you have cut out the "body" of the future cardigan, you need to cut out the sleeves. For this operation, take the sleeves big sweater and place the elastic on top of the elastic. Consider the desired length of future sleeves. It is better to make them a little longer than the sample has, since the elastic band of an adult thing is usually wider than that of a child’s, it will be possible to bend it.

Place the cut pieces together. But since the “body” of the cardigan is cut only in length and width, you need to make another bevel of the shoulder and reduce the neck itself - it is clearly larger than the child needs. To do this, lay the sample sweatshirt on top, aligning the necks and moving the cut off parts of the sleeves of the adult to the sleeves on the sweatshirt. Cut off the excess at the shoulders and neck.

Cut the front piece in half for the fastening.

All details are cut out, you can collect a cardigan. The seams of the neck need to be smoothed on both sides so that it is not very thick and stiff. Work the seams on the outer (at the shoulder) side of the neck of the back and shelves. Keep It Simple sewing threads overcast seam. Put a smaller stitch, no more than 4-5 mm, also 4-5 mm deep, so that the knitwear does not unravel.

The shoulder can be folded together and overcast both sections at once. After the edges are processed, lay the connecting stitch with a needle-back seam (see illustration).

All other parts are ground like this: put the parts together with the right side to each other and overcast, and then lay the connecting line.

Bend the bottom doubly and sweep or chip off with needles.

Sew a double stitch with a back-to-the-needle stitch that mimics a machine stitch. Do not tighten the stitches too much, otherwise it will not be elastic.

Baste or pin the sleeves and overcast the seam first, then lay the connecting stitch.

It remains to sew a lock. If your sweater has a double stand-up neck, then you need to slightly rip it up to put the zipper inside. If you do not have a double neck, but a golf collar, you can simply fold it in half in length and sew in a lock, so you can close the zipper on both sides.

Baste the lock or pin it with needles, while slightly bending the edge inward. The bottom edge of the lock should be on a par with the bottom of the cardigan, cut off the excess length of the lock from above.

Lay the lines with a “back of the needle” seam, sewing in a lock.

The baby cardigan is ready. The universal style of such a product is suitable for both boys and girls.

And from the remnants of a sweater, especially if it was big size, you can sew something else, such as a hat, mittens or even.

Oh, those favorite wool sweaters! Sometimes they lie on the shelves for years unnecessarily, and the hostess does not know what to wear to work. You should not rush to throw away old jumpers, half-shirts, because you can make a lot of beautiful and useful things out of them. Real needlewomen manage to make a new sweater from old sweaters. And there are many ideas for reworking these warm products.

What to do with an old sweater

If a large-sized half-dress is lying around in the wardrobe, then you can make a warm dress out of it. There are a lot of pattern options. In addition, it can be decorated with leather details on the collar, elbows, belt. You can also make an elegant dress out of your favorite sweater, you just need to sew a lace skirt on it, add openwork cuffs, a collar.

An ingenious and simple solution would be to make a warm winter hat from a woolen product. To do this, you just need to spread the sweater, attach to it a sample of the hat style you need so that the elastic is at the bottom. Then cut out the two sides of the product and sew.

Sometimes recyclables of different shades accumulate in whole piles. This is another reason to make an original plaid. It's best if these sweaters first get a little wrinkled with a long wash and a strong spin. After drying, square patches are cut out of the sweaters and sewn together. You can alternate squares of different colors, you get a fun mosaic, or you can use calm tones.

All women love to match bags with outfits, so homemade version of old things is very suitable for daily wear. It is only necessary to cut a blank in the form of a bag from a sweater, sew it and turn it inside out.

What else can you do with old sweaters with your own hands? How do you like the idea to create a very fashion accessory- scarf-snood? jersey best suited for this case. The neck and sides, in this case, are cut off, and the sides are sewn together.

Reworking an old sweater can be an excuse to create cute woolen toys. Small animals are easily obtained from the sleeves of products stuffed with cotton wool or padding polyester. It can be bear cubs, squirrels, bunnies and even octopuses.

New sweater from old sweaters

If you arm yourself with scissors, a sewing machine, needles and accessories, you can breathe into old things new life. How do you like the idea - to make a new sweater from old sweaters? Such a fashionable alteration can be done by crossing a sweater with a blouse. The result is a stylish, extraordinary product. You can refresh any sweater by sewing it under an elastic band, lace or an insert made of thin fabric.

Another option is to cross the details of the old jumper and shirt. For example, cut the sleeves and sides from a jumper, and take the front and back from a shirt. Shirt cuffs can also be sewn to the sleeves. It turns out to be a very cute thing. This is how a new sweater is made from old sweaters.

Covers for pillows and tablets

The back and front of the sweater are perfect for making woolen pillow covers that will decorate a bed or sofa. To do this, you need to find out the dimensions of the pillow, cut out two identical squares or rectangles on them. Then they need to be sewn from the wrong side, leaving a hidden hole. Then the cover must be turned out and put on the pillow. Such a warm pillowcase will especially please its owners in the winter.

Not only a pillow can be enclosed in original case, suitable for this and a smartphone, tablet and glasses. It is performed in the same way as for a pillow, only it is sewn on three sides. Similarly, you can sew cases for vases and candlesticks.

Pots for indoor plants

Any wool product will help turn flower pot into a decorative item. To do this, you will need a piece of an old sweater, threads, a needle and glue. Then the original envelope is sewn together, in which crocuses, violets, hyacinths can show off.

An old sweater can be cut into strips, then tied with knots. Here's an original hanging planter for the veranda!

Skirts, mittens, socks

In the fashion of recent seasons warm knitted skirts. Fashionistas do not have to buy a new one, you can safely make a new thing from an old sweater. To do this, cut off the bottom of the sweater with an elastic band of the desired length. Then the cut side is swept up and an elastic band is inserted to fix it. Only half an hour takes such a product.

Mittens and mitts for frost are also not necessary to buy. Quite fashionable fingerless mitts will come out of the sleeves of an old jumper. And according to the pattern, you can sew very simply warm mittens or socks.

It is not easy for beginners, you need to include patience and attention. It is quite possible to complete such a product in 5-6 evenings. What is suitable for beginner knitters? It is best for the first time to take semi-woolen threads with acrylic, medium density. They will lie flat, not weigh down the model and not fall off. On average, a sweater will need 600-700 g of yarn, depending on the size.

The easiest way to learn how to knit a sweater for beginners from below is raglan. To start on circular needles 140 loops are typed (for size 44-46). Then about 40 cm is knitted with the desired pattern, the product is laid aside. On separate stocking needles, sleeves are knitted separately to the desired length. Further, the sleeves and the lower part are connected, and the raglan is knitted from below. The decrease of loops is performed in four places, two loops through the row. Raglan should be approximately 20 cm. The remaining loops are knitted with a garter stitch, which tends to twist into a roll. Get a kind of neck. Here is a classic version that will look quite impressive!

New clothes always bring joy to women. One of the great ways to change clothes is to transform boring clothes into something unique and beautiful. It's nice sometimes to feel like a fashion designer and come up with something unique. Surely many people have sweaters or sweatshirts in their wardrobe that are in good condition, but for some reason are not worn. They can make a stylish cardigan. See how easy it is to transform a sweater or sweatshirt into a stylish and elegant cardigan or jacket.

Converting a sweatshirt into a cardigan

We will show an example of converting a sweatshirt into a cardigan, but any sweater can be converted using the same principle.

You will need:

  • crew-neck knitted sweatshirt
  • rhinestones and beads of several colors
  • needle and thread
  • scissors

How to convert a sweatshirt into a cardigan

First, on a flat surface, fold the sweatshirt in half to determine the middle of the product. Iron the fold line.

Cut the sweatshirt straight along the fold line

Tuck the edge 1 cm and sew by hand or sewing machine. Later, the seam can be closed with a decorative strip, ribbon or rhinestones.

In fact, the cardigan is already ready, it remains only to decorate it to your liking.

If you want to make a fastener on a cardigan, then it would be more appropriate to make it so that the product does not look tight.

Converting a sweater into a cardigan

An elastic hairband is used as a fastener.

We determine the middle, cut and process the edges, sew on a button and an eyelet.

Another interesting way alterations of a sweater or sweatshirt into an elegant cardigan with an asymmetric fastener.

This is how it originally looked. Large men's sports sweatshirt, probably second hand.

We cut off the elastic band of the neck, we form an asymmetry. We cut off the cuffs, it is better to make three-quarter sleeves, if desired, the edges can be processed and decorated.

On the fastener we make several folds for decor and density of the fabric in this place. Align the lower cut of the right and left shelves.

A tutorial on converting an old-fashioned awful sweater into a neat and shaped jacket:

First, the collar with the clasp is cut off. A new fastener is made from the collar clasp. To hide the seams, use velvet ribbons - it will be beautiful and stylish. On the back, the seam is cut and steamed to the sides, after which it is also processed with tape.

To sew a cardigan from start to finish, not everyone has enough time, skill or patience, however, such alterations are within the power of any craftswoman, and literally in the evening you can create new outfit that will delight you and those around you. Good luck with your rework and creative inspiration!

Any alteration of clothing in women is associated with new thing even if it is a sweater that has not been worn for more than 5 years. Absolutely anything can be given a second life. and she will be worn with pleasure. The same goes for sweaters and sweatshirts. They can become small, or because of frequent washing they look ugly on the figure, but everything is fixable through skill and imagination.

For alterations, sweaters of medium or high density are best suited. If you take thin ones, it is difficult to form a fastener and plus knitting knitted fabric it will unravel along the cut and is inconvenient to work with.

The principle of alteration is very simple and consists in cutting the front shelf of the product in half. Sometimes the sleeves are also reworked, but this is optional.

If you have a lot of old sweaters in your wardrobe that are not worn, but there are no ideas or inspiration to remake them, then perhaps they are motivated the following advantages of such alterations:

  • A reworked item may be fundamentally different from the original version due to a change in the shape and decor of the shelves, sleeves or collar.
  • Even a sweater that is one size smaller can be transformed. In this case, you can increase the width of the shelves by sewing on the facing of the missing width. At the same time, even a contrasting facing can give the product a zest and look incredibly interesting.
  • If before you liked to wear everything in sports style, and now you like more elegant things, then the transformation of an old thing into a cardigan will be very useful. Cardigans always look more airy and elegant.

Do not rely solely on advice or options from the internet. You can implement the most creative ideas, because only you see all the original things, and it is from them that they are repelled when choosing a method of alteration. For example, you can cut off the sleeves of one sweater and sew them on to another, then converting it into a cardigan. If he only wins from this and sparkles with new colors, then why not?

Attention! Worn or not, the sweater must be washed, dried and ironed before being transformed. This is necessary so that the fitting and all operations are more accurate.

Materials and tools

If the alteration is complex, then it is better to have on hand sewing machine, and when the operations are simple, then a thread with a needle is enough. In addition, for work you will need:

  • Actually, the sweater or sweatshirt itself.
  • For decoration, ribbons, braid, rhinestones and beads of different colors.
  • Scissors.
  • If you need to finish something, then a small piece of fabric (can be from an old thing).
  • Button or clasp.
  • And sometimes you have to give density, then you need interlining.

Important! It is better to remake sweaters with a round neckline. The fact is that the V-shaped neckline has its own characteristics and is more difficult to work with.

Alteration options

Classical

This is the easiest conversion option. You can make a cardigan without a fastener, although you can sew a hook at the very top at any time.

Rework steps:

  1. The selected sweater model must be laid out on a flat surface, folding it in half.
  2. Find the middle of the shelf and iron this line with an iron.
  3. Next, cut the product along this line, tuck the edge about 1 cm, sew it by hand or on a typewriter.
  4. Later, the seam is closed with a decorative strip or tape. You can leave the cardigan as it is or decorate it however you like.

Zipped cardigan

In this case, you need to glue the edges of the shelves with interlining or make such a fastener so that its edge does not look tight. For example, instead of punching loops, make hinged ones. To do this, you can use a regular hair band that matches the color.

Attention! The choice of fastener method depends on the quality of the material, how dense or thin it is.

It is also possible to tie the product with a braid or ribbon. Such ties can only be sewn at the top, but can also be sewn along the entire length of the shelf.

An interesting option will be with a zipper.

Cardigan with asymmetrical fronts

For this the product is best suited 2-3 sizes larger so that it is possible to form asymmetry.

Rework steps:

  1. First you need to cut off the elastic at the neck of the sweater.
  2. Cut the shelves not in the middle, but with an offset so that the left shelf is wide and the right one is narrower, or vice versa.
  3. Cut off the cuffs, forming a sleeve of the desired length. Three-quarter sleeves look perfect with an asymmetrical closure.
  4. Treat the edges of the neck and shelves with a facing, you can even contrast. Smooth the facing under the bottom and go through the finishing line at a distance of 0.5 cm from the edge. Align the bottom of the product.
  5. To form a fastener, punch a few loops on a typewriter, and sew buttons on the second half.

Conclusion

Here are the most common options that you can take as a basis in your alterations. However, do not limit your imagination to these examples. Come up with your own way to remake. You may want to make not a cardigan, but something else - there are a lot of options.

Important! The main thing, as in the case of any alterations, work at each stage must be done with the utmost care so that the product turns out to be of good quality and of high quality.
