Businessman disabled without arms and legs. Nick Vuychich - a man of very strong will (16 photos)

Life loves to surprise. Sometimes pleasant, sometimes scary. When the Vuychich family, who emigrated from Serbia to Australia, was expecting their first child, no one could even imagine how this calm and, in general, problem-free pregnancy would end.

Only during childbirth it turned out: the first-born of the couple, Nick Vuychich, was deprived of arms and legs. The child was born absolutely healthy, but he had no arms at all, one leg too, and instead of the second, a small stump with fused fingers stuck out.

On December 4, 1982, pastor Boris Vuychich was present at the birth of his wife Dushka, helped her as best he could, supported and persuaded her. Finally, there were attempts, and now the baby’s shoulder appeared ... There was no hand! The pastor was shocked, but quickly pulled himself together, and, in order not to betray fear, which could be transmitted to the puerperal, left the room.

Boris Vuychich ran to the doctor. "My son! He doesn't have a hand!" the young father managed to say. “Your son has neither arms nor legs,” was the doctor’s answer. Nick was diagnosed with tetra-amelia syndrome, a disease in which limbs are missing.

They also usually suffer internal organs and children with this syndrome do not live long. But Nick, one might say, was lucky: in all other respects he was absolutely healthy.

Tetra-amelia syndrome is a rare disease. It is caused by a gene mutation. Parents can be carriers of the damaged gene, but they themselves do not get sick.

In the case of Nick, nothing foreshadowed misfortune. Even the ultrasound showed no abnormalities.

The newborn was taken home. At first, the parents were completely at a loss. The mother could not bring herself to take the unusual baby in her arms and feed him. But gradually the shock passed, the parents decided: just live, dealing with problems as they appear.

They tried to put prosthetic hands on Nick, but they turned out to be too heavy, and the boy could not use them. Peers at school (and at the insistence of his parents he began to study at a regular school so as not to feel like an invalid) did not take him to their games, shouting: “Nick, you can’t do anything!”, “Nick, go away!”. Children do such things not out of malice, but out of misunderstanding. It didn't make it any easier for Nick.

Every evening the boy prayed with desperate faith, asking God to give him arms and legs. However, there were no happy changes. One day, ten-year-old Nick realized that he was very tired of such a life, he did not want to endure it anymore. The child asked his mother to take him to the bath.

The unsuspecting Dushka complied with the request, poured water and left her son, as she thought, to rest alone. Nick decided to take his own life. He began to make attempts to drown, but the water held his small body well. And suddenly he had a clear picture of the funeral: the parents bend over him, and in their eyes the unbearable pain of loss.

And the boy realized: since he was born like this, it means that God considered it necessary. Perhaps his life will serve as an inspiration for someone?

After some time, Nick underwent an operation, as a result of which the fingers on his only limb were separated. And the boy learned to do things that seemed impossible in his position: work on a computer, surf, move independently, play football, golf, draw, swim and dive into the water from a springboard.

Everything that could be done without outside help, Nick forced himself to do. During public lectures, he still amazes listeners with the way he rises on his own, falling backwards. He rises, resting his forehead and helping himself with a single limb, which he himself calls with slight irony "ham".

Nick was teased by the boys - it's true, he admits a bitter fact. But there were (and are) in his life those who supported and did not allow to lose heart: parents, younger brother and little sister, two devotees school friend. Growing up, he made new acquaintances, and later met his love.

Self-awareness

Like any special child, Nick went through several stages of development, coping with his illness. At first, he did not understand why he was so punished by God (so it seemed to him), he cried, did not want to live. Then came the realization that nothing will change, magic will not happen - you have to learn to accept life as it is.

The result was an understanding: no matter what you are, you can still get happiness. If you open yourself to life with gratitude, it will give you everything you need.

Nick received two higher educations. He has a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting. The young man took his life in own hands, learned to earn money, so as not to be a burden to anyone.

Logical reflections led him to an interesting conclusion: if he managed to learn a lot and be in complete harmony with life, then perhaps his help and advice will be useful to those who are just starting to search for a “place in the sun”. Need to try!

At the age of 17, his first performance took place in front of a large audience - the parishioners of the church. After 2 years, he gave a lecture to students at Griffith University, where he studied at that time. Both public performances were a great success and inspired Nick to further accomplishments.

He saw his destiny in that by his example, by his own words, to restore faith in life and in himself to everyone who despaired. Since then, Nick has been steadily following this path.

Sermons

Nick Vuychich - Orthodox Christian. According to the deep conviction of a professional speaker (this profession has now become the main one for Nick), God gives strength for life and fight against the disease. If the Lord allowed the birth of one of His children without arms and legs, but at the same time gave full health, it means that this was done with a great goal - to show that the life of a person, seemingly doomed to suffering, can become a complete, breathing harmony, saturated positive emotions, successful and very interesting - it all depends on the person himself.

Nick does not pose or show off - by his example, he demonstrates to others that it is possible and necessary to be happy, no matter what, in any state and position. Moreover, you can not only be happy, but also help others. Now Nick perceives his peculiarity as a gift from above.

As a Christian, Nick's purpose in life is to motivate people with the word of God. The topics of his lectures sound something like this: "Overcoming despair", "With God everything is possible."

Today it is already possible to sum up some results of the activity of the 35-year-old speaker: he visited 45 countries, and everywhere he collected (and continues to collect) huge audiences. You need to learn to be strong - that's what he wants to convey to all those who have despaired and learned the bitterness of life's lessons.

If you feel that you are not coping, give up - trust God, he supports each of us.

Books and films

Nick mastered not only oratory. He was able to play the role of an actor - he has two films on his account, each of which makes you seriously think about the meaning of life. Is this how we live? Is it right? Have you chosen the right path for yourself? Why do we break down when we encounter inevitable obstacles, and how can we force ourselves to pick ourselves up after a fall and move on?

Watch these films: Butterfly Circus (2009) and Life. Instructions for use". Perhaps many of the questions that tormented you relentlessly will be resolved by themselves.

From childhood, Nick had an easy, clear style - and he decided to use this talent, put it at the service of people. Here is a list of bestsellers that perfectly motivate in the most difficult and confusing life situation:

  • “Life without limits. Way to amazing happy life».
  • “Unstoppable. The incredible power of faith in action."
  • “Boundlessness. 50 lessons that will make you outrageously happy.

In fact, Nick has more books. Here are listed, perhaps, the most striking. Take any, open it - you won't be able to tear yourself away. And let it not bother you that you, for example, are a Buddhist or an atheist by conviction - Nick does not insist that the position of an Orthodox Christian is the only correct one.

He's talking about something else about faith in yourself and in that power that is in every person. You need to find this strength - it will be the fulcrum. For him, it is faith in God. For you, it might be something else.

Personal life

Could Nick school years at least imagine that simple human happiness is available to him - family, children? As it turned out, real love knows no boundaries. Once Nick met a beautiful and smart girl, half Japanese, half Mexican - Kanae Miyahara.

Kanae was a Christian, as was Nick. Young people have many common interests. Four years they met, and now - the wedding! The celebration took place in 2012. And the next year, 2013, brought even more joy to the young couple - the first-born Kiyoshi James was born.

In 2015, the second son, Dejan Levi, was born. And in December 2017, the couple became parents of many children: twin girls, Ellie and Olivia, were born. All children are completely healthy.

Nick and Kanae are happy. They support each other in everything. Together they founded the Life Without Limbs charity foundation. Help will be provided to anyone who applies there, regardless of nationality, country of residence and religion.

Quotes

There is no pathos in the statements of Nick Vuychich. Everything is simple, everything he says is available to each of us. Listen - and you will understand that many of our problems can be solved if you make an effort and firmly believe in the result.

Those that we are unable to resolve, we can simply accept as a given, without despair. Read:

  • “Very often it seems to us that we will not be able to change the world and our lives. The truth is that everything is possible. But to see results, you must act."
  • “Take small steps in the right direction. No matter how small they are, keep moving towards your goal.”
  • "You lie to yourself when you think you're worthless."
  • “Life is ready to give you wonderful experiences, you just need to give it a chance.”

Nick Vujicic today

Nick is not one of those people who are ready to stop there. He continues his oratorical activity, by the way, in 2018 he visited Ukraine and Russia.

He shoots videos, maintains his own blog, where he shares with like-minded people the details of his difficult, but interesting and happy life, thoughts about the place of each of us in this world.

The young man owns the motivational company Attitude Is Altitude. He has his own website, open to everyone. Anyone can contact him for some much needed support at times.

Contacts

Nick is most active on Instagram. In addition, he often appears on Facebook, and since 2015, in connection with his first visit to Russia, his VKontakte page has been opened.

Have questions? Write! If Nick himself does not have time, his assistants will answer.

Alexey Talai - "Russian Nick Vuychich"

If Nika knows the whole world today, then with his “comrade in misfortune”, Belarusian Aleksey Talai, the situation is completely different.

Meet: we have our own Nick Vuychich. Only if Nick was already born without arms and legs and grew up in a country where people with disabilities can freely study, work, realize themselves - they are helped by fellow citizens and the state, then our Alexei had a much harder time. It took him even more courage to overcome his illness.

Alexey grew up an ordinary child. His life was the same as everyone else, until the age of 16. Once he came to visit his grandfather in the village - to help with the housework - and saw little boys burning something in the field. Alexei dispersed the boys, put out the fire. Suddenly there was an explosion.

Subsequently, the young man said: “I did not understand what happened. A second - I'm lying on the field, the earth crunches on my teeth and the taste of blood is felt. I wanted to sit down, lean on my hands, but they seemed to fall into the ground. I looked - and bones stick out instead of hands ... ". It was a shell that exploded, left over from the Great Patriotic War.

Frightened grandparents were already running to the scene of the tragedy. Horror and pain froze in their eyes. Alexey recalled that then he realized: no, you can’t die. Grandfather endured so many horrors of the war and returned without a single scratch. So he, Alexei, simply does not have the right to let the war overtake him now.

There was monstrous pain, operations. Many times Alexey balanced for months between life and death. He won. He not only survived, but did not break: he built a business (rents out a house), professionally goes in for sports (master of sports in swimming, member of the Paralympic team of Belarus, has a black belt in taekwondo).

Does charity work. Alexey is also a happy family man: he has a wife and four wonderful children. The plans include opening a network of sports stores, business development.

Alexey overcame all the obstacles that prevent a person with a disability from living a full life. In our country, this requires special courage, because even just leaving your own home is an inaccessible luxury for most people with disabilities.

When you read about the fate of people like Nick Vuychich and Aleksey Talai, you understand that there are no insurmountable obstacles. If they were able to make their lives bright and meaningful, then we, ordinary people, simply cannot give up in any situation. We have no right.

There are a lot of publications about Nick Vuychich on the net (and a lot of videos too), he is generally a public figure. But for a long time I myself wanted to write about him at home, because he is really a great fellow, but all my hands did not reach. And then the news arrived that on February 12 he got married, that's the reason.

Disabled Preacher Nick Vujicic Marries
Taken from http://madwind.livejournal.com/2009246.html

There have been many stories about Nick Vuychich, a guy without legs and arms, who once wanted to commit suicide, and then began to preach the gospel all over the world. (Let's make it clear right away: Nick is a Christian, a Protestant, Jesus is the center of his life. Wikipedia says: Nick Vuychich (December 4, 1982, Brisbane, Australia) is a Christian preacher, was born into a family of Serbian immigrants, his father is a pastor, his mother is a nurse).

Since 1999, Nick began to speak to his church group and soon opened the non-profit organization Life without Limbs (Eng. Life without Limbs). He usually performs in churches, but also in schools, universities, in army units. He motivates people, inspires by his example and, of course, talks about Jesus. Before the start of the performance, the assistant usually brings Nick to the stage and helps him get on some kind of dais so that he can be seen. Then Nick tells episodes from his everyday life. About people still staring at him on the streets. About the fact that when the children run up and ask: “What happened to you ?!”, and he answers them in a hoarse voice: “It’s all because of cigarettes!”))

After that, he says: "And to be honest, sometimes you can fall like this." Nick falls face down on the table he was standing on. And he continues: “It happens in life that you fall, and it seems that you have no strength to rise. You wonder then if you have any hope... I have neither arms nor legs! It seems that if I try to rise at least a hundred times, I will not succeed. But after another defeat, I do not leave hope. I will try again and again. I want you to know that failure is not the end. What matters is how you finish. Are you going to finish strong? Then you will find the strength to rise up in yourself – in this way.” He leans on his forehead, then helps himself with his shoulders and gets up...

Nick talks about gratitude to God. "I could not find anything else that would give me peace. Through the word of God, I learned the truth about the purpose of my life - about who I am, why I live, and where I will go when I die. Without faith, nothing made sense.. Sometimes they say to me: "No, no! I can't imagine myself without arms and legs!" But comparison of suffering is impossible, nor is it necessary. What can I say to someone whose loved one is dying of cancer or whose parents are divorced? I will not understand their pain. There is a lot of pain in this life, so there must be absolute Truth, absolute Hope, which above all circumstances. My hope is in heaven. If you connect your happiness with temporary things, it will be temporary."

Between business trips, Nick fishes, plays golf and surfs: "Usually, parents of disabled children get divorced. My parents are not divorced. Do you think they were scared? Yes. Do you think they trusted God? Yes. I guess now they see fruits of my labors? Absolutely right ... How many people would believe if they showed me on TV and said: "This guy prayed to the Lord and he got arms and legs"? But when people see me for who I am, they wondering: “How can you smile?” For them, this is a visible miracle. I need my trials so that I understand how dependent on God. Other people need my testimony that "the power of God is made perfect in weakness." They look into the eyes of a man without arms and legs and see in them peace, joy - that is what everyone aspires to."

Nick recently got married. In August, the engagement was announced, the wedding took place the other day.
On February 12, 2012, Nick Vujicic married Kanae Miahara.

He once said: “I thought: what kind of husband can I become if I can’t even hold my wife’s hand? But it’s a lie to think that you are not good enough. It’s a lie to think that you are worth nothing. How many people believe that they are worthless! .. Yes, I have no hands to hold my wife by the hand, but when the time comes and God gives me a wife, I will be able to hold her with my heart. And so it turned out.

“There are people who give up because they don’t have the strength to look around the corner. And if you don’t look around the corner, you will never know what God has in store for you there,” says Nick. “Have you trusted God with all your heart? He knows how much it hurts... But God has a plan for your life! He says in the Bible: "Even if you go through fire, don't be afraid: I'm with you!". If only you could receive the gift of Jesus! He - the greatest gift we can receive He is love He is infinite He is love that manifests itself in everything You can have all the money in the world, anything you want, but you will not take anything with you to the grave except your own souls."

"Peace with God gives strength to live - day by day"

Nick Vuychich. No arms, no legs - no fuss

It was their long-awaited firstborn. The father was in labor. He saw the baby's shoulder - what is it? No hand. Boris Vuychich realized that he had to leave the room at once so that his wife would not have time to notice how his face had changed. He couldn't believe what he saw.

When the doctor came to him, he began to speak:

"My son! Doesn't he have a hand?

The doctor replied:

"No... Your son has no arms or legs."

The doctors refused to show the baby to the mother. The nurses were crying.

Why?

Nicolas Vuychich was born in Melbourne, Australia, in a family of Serbian emigrants. Mother is a nurse. Father is a pastor. The whole parish lamented: “Why did the Lord allow this?” The pregnancy proceeded normally, with heredity everything is in order.

At first, the mother could not bring herself to take her son in her arms, she could not breastfeed him. “I had no idea how I would take the child home, what to do with him, how to take care of him,” recalls Duska Vujvic. I didn't know who to contact with my questions. Even the doctors were confused. Only after four months I began to recover. My husband and I began to solve problems without looking far ahead. One by one."

Nick has a semblance of a foot instead of a left leg. Thanks to this, the boy learned to walk, swim, skateboard, play on the computer and write. Parents made sure that their son was taken to regular school. Nick became the first child with a disability in a regular Australian school.

“It meant that the teachers surrounded me with too much attention,” recalls Nick. - On the other hand, although I had two friends, most often I heard from my peers: “Nick, go away!”, “Nick, you can’t do anything!”, “We don’t want to be friends with you!”, “You are nobody !"

drown myself

Every evening, Nick prayed to God and asked him: "God, give me arms and legs!" He cried and hoped that when he wakes up in the morning, arms and legs will already appear. Mom and dad bought him electronic hands. But they were too heavy, and the boy could not use them.

On Sundays he went to church school. They taught that the Lord loves everyone. Nick did not understand how this could be - why then God did not give him what everyone has. Sometimes adults would come up and say: “Nick, everything will be fine with you!” But he did not believe them - no one could explain to him why he was like that, and no one could help him, not even God. At the age of eight, Nicholas decided to drown himself in the bath. He asked his mother to take him there.

“I turned my face into the water, but it was very difficult to resist. Nothing worked. During this time, I presented a picture of my funeral - here are my dad and mom ... And then I realized that I could not kill myself. All I saw from my parents was love for me.”

change heart

Nick did not try to commit suicide anymore, but he kept thinking - why should he live.

He won't be able to work, he won't be able to take his bride by the hand, he won't be able to take his child in his arms when he cries. One day, my mother read an article to Nick about a seriously ill person who inspired others to live.

Mom said, “Nick, God needs you. I do not know how. I do not know when. But you can serve Him."

At the age of fifteen, Nick opened the Gospel and read the parable of the blind man. The disciples asked Christ why this man was blind. Christ answered: "So that the works of God may appear on it." Nick says that at that moment he stopped being angry with God.

“Then I realized, I am not just a person without arms and legs. I am a creation of God. God knows what and why He does. It doesn't matter what people think, says Nick now. God didn't answer my prayers. It means that He wants to change my heart more than the circumstances of my life. Probably, even if I suddenly had arms and legs, it would not calm me down like that. Hands and feet by themselves.

At nineteen, Nick studied financial planning at university. Once he was asked to speak to students. Seven minutes were allotted for the speech. Three minutes later, the girls in the hall were crying. One of them could not stop sobbing, she raised her hand and asked: “Can I go up to the stage and hug you?”. The girl went up to Nick and began to cry on his shoulder. She said, “No one has ever told me that they love me, no one has ever told me that I am beautiful the way I am. My life has changed today."

Nick came home and announced to his parents that he knew what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. The first thing my father asked was: “Are you thinking of graduating from university?” Then other questions arose:

Will you ride alone?

Don't know.

What will you talk about?

Don't know.

Who will listen to you?

Don't know.

One hundred attempts to rise

Ten months a year he is on the road, two months at home. He traveled to more than two dozen countries, he was heard by more than three million people - in schools, nursing homes, prisons. It happens that Nick speaks in stadiums with thousands of people. He performs about 250 times a year. Nick receives about three hundred offers for new performances a week. He became a professional speaker.

Before the start of the performance, the assistant brings Nick onto the stage and helps him get on some kind of platform so that he can be seen. Then Nick tells episodes from his everyday life. About people still staring at him on the streets. About when kids run up and ask, “What happened to you?!” He replies in a hoarse voice, "All because of the cigarettes!"

And to those who are younger, he says: “I didn’t clean my room.” What he has in place of his legs, he calls the "ham". Nick reveals that his dog loves to bite him. And then he begins to beat off a fashionable rhythm with a ham.

After that, he says: "And to be honest, sometimes you can fall like this." Nick falls face down on the table he was standing on.

And continues:

“It happens in life that you fall, and it seems that you have no strength to rise. Then you will find the strength in yourself to rise - that's the way."

He leans on his forehead, then helps himself with his shoulders and stands up.

The women in the hall begin to cry.

And Nick starts talking about gratitude to God.

I don't save anyone

- People are touched, consoled, because they see that it is harder for someone than for them?

Sometimes they say to me: “No, no! I can't imagine myself without arms and legs!" But it is impossible to compare suffering, and it is not necessary. What can I say to someone whose loved one is dying of cancer or whose parents are divorced? I don't understand their pain.

One day a twenty-year-old woman approached me. She was kidnapped when she was ten years old, made into a slave and subjected to violence. During this time, she had two children, one of them died. Now she has AIDS. Her parents don't want to talk to her. What can she hope for? She said that if she did not believe in God, she would commit suicide. Now she talks about her faith with other AIDS patients so they can hear her.

Last year I met people who had a son with no arms and no legs. The doctors said, “He will be a plant for the rest of his life. He won’t be able to walk, he won’t be able to study, he won’t be able to do anything.” And suddenly they found out about me and met me personally - another such person. And they had hope. It is important for everyone to know that he is not alone and that he is loved.

- Why did you believe in God?

I couldn't find anything else that would give me peace. Through the word of God, I learned the truth about the purpose of my life—who I am, why I live, and where I will go when I die. Without faith, nothing made sense.

There is a lot of pain in this life, so there must be absolute Truth, absolute Hope, which is above all circumstances. My hope is in heaven. If you associate your happiness with temporary things, it will be temporary.

I can tell many times when teenagers came up to me and said, “Today I looked in the mirror with a knife in my hand. It was supposed to be the last day of my life. You saved me".

A woman came up to me one day and said, “Today is my daughter's second birthday. Two years ago she listened to you and you saved her life." But I can't save myself! Only God can. What I have is not Nick's accomplishments. If not for God, I would not be here with you and would not exist in the world. I couldn't handle my trials on my own. And I thank God that my example inspires people.

- What can inspire you besides faith and family?

The smile of a friend.

Once I was informed that a terminally ill guy wanted to see me. He was eighteen years old. He was already very weak and could not move at all. I entered his room for the first time. And he smiled. It was a precious smile. I told him that I don't know how I would feel in his place, that he is my hero.

We saw each other a few more times. I asked him once: "What would you like to say to all people?" He said, "What do you mean?" I replied: “Now, if there was a camera here. And every person in the world could see you. What would you say?

He asked for time to think. The last time we spoke on the phone, he was already so weak that I could not hear his voice on the phone. We spoke through his father. This guy said, “I know what I would say to all people. Try to be a milestone in someone's life story. Do something. Something to remember you."

Hug without hands

Previously, Nick fought for independence in every little thing. Now, due to the busy schedule, I began to trust more cases to the patronage worker, who helps to dress, move around and in other routine matters. Nick's childhood fears did not come true. He recently got engaged, is going to get married, and now he believes that he does not need hands to hold the heart of the bride. He no longer worries about how he will communicate with his children. The case helped. An unfamiliar two-year-old girl approached him. She saw that Nick had no hands. Then the girl put her hands behind her back and put her head on his shoulder.

Nick can't shake hands with anyone - he hugs people. And even set a world record. A guy with no arms hugged 1,749 people in an hour. He wrote a book about his life, typing 43 words per minute on a computer. Between business trips, he fishes, plays golf and surfs.

“I don’t always get up in the morning with a smile on my face. Sometimes my back hurts,” says Nick, “But because there is great power in my principles, I continue to take small steps forward, the steps of a baby. Courage is not the absence of fear, it is the ability to act, relying not on one's own strength, but on the help of God.

Usually parents of children with disabilities get divorced. My parents are not divorced. Do you think they were scared? Yes. Do you think they trusted God? Yes. Do you think they are now seeing the fruits of their labors? Quite right.

How many people would believe if they showed me on TV and said: “This guy prayed to the Lord and he got arms and legs”? But when people see me for who I am, they are perplexed: “How can you smile?” For them, this is a visible miracle. I need my trials so that I understand how dependent on God. Other people need my testimony that "the power of God is made perfect in weakness." They look into the eyes of a man without arms and legs and see in them peace, joy - something that everyone aspires to.

Nick Vujicic is a great motivator and public speaker and speaks a lot. Watch his performances. They amaze, inspire and move to action.
Imagine that you were born without arms. There are no hands, it is impossible to hug anyone, there are no hands to feel the touch, or to take someone's hand. What about being born without legs? Not being able to dance, walk, run, or even just stand on two legs. Now combine these two scenarios together... No arms and no legs. What would you do then? How would this affect your life?
Meet Nick. He was born in 1982 in Melbourne. Without any medical explanation or warning, Nick Vuychich came into this world without arms and legs. His mother's pregnancy was going well and there was no heredity to expect such a condition. Imagine how shocked his parents were when they saw their first child, this boy, and found that he was what the world considers imperfect and abnormal. A son without limbs was not what Nurse Duska Vujicic and Pastor Boris Vujicic expected. How will their son live a normal, happy life? What will he be able to do or become while living with what the world considers to be such a severe disability? Few thought that this beautiful child without limbs will one day be the one to inspire and motivate people of all walks of life, touching the lives of people in all corners of the world.

As a child, Nick faced more than the usual challenges of school and adolescence, such as bullying. (translator's note: bullying is physical and / or psychological terror against a child by a group of classmates) or self-respect. He also suffered from depression and loneliness when he asked why he was different from all the children around him; why he turned out to be the one who was born without arms and legs. He often wondered what the purpose of his life was, or whether there was any purpose at all.
After a large number frustrated and feeling like he was the only weird person in school, when Nick was seven years old he tried out specially designed electronic arms in the hope that he would be a little bit like other kids. After a short trial period, Nick realized that even with his arms, he still didn't look like his classmates, and besides, in practice, they were too heavy for Nick to control, greatly affecting his mobility.

As Nick grew up, he learned to deal with his shortcomings and began to do more and more things himself. He adapted to his situation and found ways to perform many of the activities that humans can do using only their limbs, such as brushing their teeth, combing their hair, typing, swimming, exercising, and more. Over time, Nick began to take advantage of his situation and achieve great things. In the seventh grade, Nick was selected as the school's head boy and worked with the student council on projects to raise money for local charities and for disabled companies.
According to Nick, the victory in his struggle along the entire route of his journey, as well as the strength and passion he had for life, can be attributed to his faith, his family, his friends and many people he met in his life, and who supported him all the time.
After school, Nick continued his studies and received two higher educations. One, as an accountant, the second - in the field of financial planning. By the age of 19, Nick began to fulfill his dream: to be able to inspire other people, give them hope through his motivational speeches and telling his story. "I have found the purpose of my existence, as well as the reason for my circumstances ... There is a reason why you are on fire." Nick truly believes that there is a reason why we face struggles in our lives and that our attitude towards those struggles is the single most effective factor in overcoming them.

In 2005, Nick received the Young Australian of the Year nomination. This award, which is very prestigious in Australia, recognizes young people for their excellence and service to their local community and their nation, as well as their individual achievements. This award is given only to truly inspiring people.
Today, at the age of 25, this limbless guy has achieved more than most people twice his age. Nick recently moved from Brisbon, Australia to California, USA, where he is president of a charity. In addition, he has his own motivational speaking company called "Attitude Is Altitude". Since his first motivational speech at age 19, Nick has traveled the world, telling his story to millions of people, speaking to different groups such as: students, teachers, youth, businessmen, entrepreneurs, church meetings different sizes. He also told his story and gave interviews to various TV companies around the world. Nick's performances go far beyond pure motivation. He had and still has the opportunity to communicate with several leaders, including, for example, the Vice President of Kenya. This year, Nick plans to perform in more than 20 countries around the world.
"People say to me, 'How can you smile?'" says Nick. They then realize that "there must be something more than what's seen at a glance if a guy with no arms and legs lives longer than full life, than me".

Nick talks to his audience about the importance of having your own vision and dreaming big. Using his own experience around the world as an example, he challenges others to consider their perspectives and look beyond their circumstances. He shares his point of view on how to stop looking at obstacles as a problem and instead start seeing them as an opportunity for growth, how to influence others, etc. He emphasizes the importance of our attitude and that it is the most powerful tool we have at our disposal; and also shows how the choices we make can have a profound effect on our lives and the lives of those around us.
Through his life, Nick shows that the main key to achieving our biggest dreams is consistency and the ability to use failure as an experience, as well as the ability to not let the guilt and fear of failure paralyze us.

How does Vujicic feel about his disability now? He accepted it, took advantage of it, and very often he laughs at his circumstances when he shows many of his "tricks". He meets challenges with a special sense of humor; his perseverance and faith always inspires everyone around him to get to know their perspective, to create and define their vision. Using these new definitions, he challenges every person he meets so that he can change his life in such a way that he begins to realize his most big dreams. With his extraordinary ability to connect with people from all walks of life and his incredible sense of humor that captivates children, teens and adults alike, Nick is truly an inspiring and motivating speaker.

It looks like a myth, a beautiful, instructive, but unreal story. Think about it, a boy born without legs and arms, by the age of 31, is a world famous motivational speaker, happy husband and father. Nick Vujicic has traveled half the world. He performed at the stadium, and 110 thousand people listened to him. Is it possible?

Happens. If every day to make a small feat. We will tell you about 12 exploits of Nick Vujicic, thanks to which you can read in his sincere smile: “I am happy.”

Birth

One of better ways to get rid of the pain of the past is to replace it with gratitude.

December 4, 1982. Dushka Vujicic is in labor. Here is the birth of the firstborn. Husband, Boris Vuychich, is present at the birth.

The shoulder showed up. Boris turned pale and left the birth room. After a while, a doctor came up to him.

"Doctor, is my son missing an arm?" Boris asked. "No. Your son has neither arms nor legs,” the doctor replied.

Nicholas's parents (so they called the newborn) did not know anything about the Tetra-Amelia syndrome. They didn't know how to handle a baby without arms and legs. The mother did not put her son to her breast for 4 months.

Gradually, Nick's parents got used to¸ accepting and loving their son for who he is.

Childhood

Failure is the path to excellence.

Leg. So Nick called the only limb on his body. Likeness of a foot with two fused toes, subsequently separated surgically.

But Nick thinks that his "leg" is not so bad. He learned to write, print (43 words per minute), drive an electric wheelchair, push off on a skateboard.

Not everything worked right away. But, when the time came, Nick went to a regular school, along with healthy peers.

Despair

When you feel like betraying your dream, push yourself to work one more day, one more week, one more month, one more year. You'll be amazed at what happens if you don't give up.

“You can’t do anything!”, “We don’t want to be friends with you!”, “You are nobody!” Nick heard these words every day at school.

The focus shifted: he was no longer proud of what he had learned; he fixated on what he could never do. Hug your wife, take your child in your arms ...

One day, Nick asked his mother to take him to the bathroom. Driven by the thought "Why me?" the boy tried to drown himself.

"They didn't deserve this" - 10-year-old Nick realized that he could not do this to his parents, who love him very much. Suicide is not fair. Unfair to loved ones.

self-identification

Other people's words and actions cannot define your personality.

"What happened to you?!" - until Nick became world famous, this was the most frequently asked question to him.

Seeing a man without arms and legs, people do not hide the shock. Sidelong glances, whispers behind his back, grins - Nick answers everything with a smile. "It's all about the cigarettes," he says to the particularly impressionable. And he jokes about the children: “I just didn’t clean my room ...”.

Humor

Laugh as much as possible. In the life of any person there are days when troubles and hardships pour, as if from a cornucopia. Do not curse tests. Be grateful to life for giving you the opportunity to learn and develop. A sense of humor will help with this.

Nick is a big joker. There are no arms and legs - life "played" him, so why not laugh at her?

Once, Nick dressed up as a pilot and, with the permission of the airline, met passengers at the landing with the words: “Today we are testing a new aircraft control technology ... and I am your pilot.”

people, in person those who know Nick Vučić is said to have an excellent sense of humor. And this quality, as you know, excludes self-pity.

Talent

If you are deeply unhappy, then you are not living your life. Your talents are being misused.

Nick Vuychich has two higher educations: accounting and financial planning. He is a successful motivational speaker and businessman. But his main talent is the ability to convince. Including through art.

Nick's first book is called "Life without limits: Inspiration for an absurdly good life" (translated into 30 languages, published in Russian in 2012). In 2009, he starred in the short film Butterfly Circus (IMDb rating 8.10). A story about finding the meaning of life.

Sport

It is impossible to argue with the fact that madness is genius: anyone who is willing to take risks, in the eyes of others, appears either as a madman or a genius.

“Crazy” is what many people think when they watch Nick looking for a wave while surfing or skydiving.

“I realized that physical dissimilarity limits me only to the extent that I limit myself,” Vuychich once admitted and did not limit himself in anything.

Nick plays football, tennis, swims well.

Motivation

Think of your attitude to the world as a remote control. If you don't like the program you are watching, you simply grab the remote and switch the TV to another program. It’s the same with your attitude towards life: when you are unhappy with the result, change your approach, no matter what problem you are facing.

At the age of 19, Nick was offered to speak to students at the university where he studied (Griffith University). Nicholas agreed: he went out and spoke briefly about himself. Many people in the audience were crying, and one girl went up on stage and hugged him.

The young man understood that oratory was his vocation.

Nick Vuychich traveled to 45 countries, met with 7 presidents, spoke to thousands of spectators. Every day, he receives dozens of requests for interviews and invitations to speak. Why do people want to listen to it?

Because his performances are not reduced to the banal: “Are you in trouble? Yes, look at me - no arms, no legs, that's who has problems!

Nick understands that suffering cannot be compared, everyone has their own pain, and does not try to cheer up people, they say, “compared to me, everything is not so bad with you.” He just talks to them.

Embrace

I have no hands, and when you hug, you press right against the hearts. It's amazing!

Nick confesses that since he was born without arms, he never missed them. The only thing he lacks is a handshake. He cannot shake hands with anyone.

But he found a way. Nick hugs people... with his heart. Once Vuychich even arranged a hugging marathon - 1749 people per day, hugged by the heart.

Love

If you are open to love, love will come. If you surround your heart with a wall, there will be no love.

They met on April 11, 2010. The beautiful Kanae Miyahara has a boyfriend, Nick has no arms or legs. It's not love at first sight. It's just love. Real, deep.

On February 12, 2012, Nick and Kanae got married. Everything is as it should be: White dress, tuxedo and honeymoon in Hawaii.

Family

It is impossible to live life to the fullest if every decision you make is driven by fear. Fear will keep you from moving forward and prevent you from becoming who you want to be. But it's just a mood, a feeling. Fear is not real!

Tetra-Amelia syndrome is hereditary. Nick wasn't scared.

Hope

All good things in life start with hope.

Nick Vuychich is a man without arms and legs. Nick Vujicic is a man who believes in miracles. There is a pair of boots in his linen closet. So… just in case. After all, in life there is always room for something more.

Terrible diagnosis

The famous Australian motivational speaker, philanthropist, writer and singer was born in the family of a Serbian immigrant Boris and Dushka Vuychich. From birth, the child received a genetic pathology called tetraamelia.

Tetra-amelia syndrome (autosomal recessive tetra-amelia) is a rare congenital disease that is inherited. It is characterized by the absence of four limbs. Other organs of the body are subject to a cumulative deviation in normal development. The diagnosis of the disease is associated with a mutation of the WNT3 gene (Wikipedia).

The child born in the family of a preacher did not have full-fledged arms and legs. His body had an element resembling a foot with fused toes. After surgery and separation of the skin membrane between the fingers, the boy was able not only to get the opportunity to move around, write, work at a computer, but also mastered several sports:

  • Surfing.
  • Swimming.
  • Skateboard.

Childhood and youth

Figure 1. Childhood

The child attended primary school in special school for invalids. However, at the initiative of the parents, he was transferred to the usual. An attempt to use prosthetic body parts did not bring success - they turned out to be too heavy. Around this period, the boy underwent an operation that allowed him to reveal his irrepressible character and great desire for life.

Death or full life: a fateful choice

According to the stories of Nick himself, the most important event that occurred in his biography occurred at the age of ten. One evening the boy asked his mother to fill the bath for him to wash himself. Once in the water, the child asked Dushka to leave him to lie down. Nick, full of despair, decided to use this moment in order to commit suicide.

“I tried to turn my face into the water, but it was hard to stay in that position. Nothing worked for me. But in a short time, I very clearly imagined the picture of my funeral - here are dad and mom ... And then I realized that I could not hurt them, I could not kill myself. After all, all that I saw from my parents was a huge love for me.

From that moment on, the story of his incredible life changed and became a confirmation that a person without arms and legs can achieve incredible, amazing heights that are inaccessible to some full-fledged men.

First confessions

Figure 2. The main thing is that he himself likes what he does

Faith in God, a strong vital will, a unique mindset caused Nick Vuychich to understand at school that if he could learn everything he could, then such results are also subject to other people who find themselves in a difficult life situation. So, at the age of 17, the guy made his first motivational speech.

The success of the first talk with a brief story of his life was the reason for the subsequent meeting. So, Nick Vuychich began his “preacher” activity, which was the reason for the opening of the non-profit organization “Life Without Limbs”, aimed at charity and rehabilitation of disabled people around the world.

Charitable organization "Life without limbs"

The main motto of Nick Vujicic's charitable organization "Life without limbs" is the phrase that people who are different in body structure are normal. As an example, she cites a story from her childhood, retelling the words of her mother, spoken to him at the age of ten: “You must play with normal children, because you are normal. Yes, you're missing something, but it's nothing."

Also, one of the key principles of his happy life as a motivation for new members of the organization, Nick Vuychich names several of the following conditions:

  • Sincerity.
  • Interest.
  • Willingness to help.

According to Nicholas, it is in these principles, confirmed by actions, that the strength of human existence now lies.

With regard to pity, he speaks with the following words: “A useless feeling that sows around helplessness. A person needs to be loved, not pitied. Pity makes us victims, we begin to think like a victim. Everyone around becomes guilty, everyone around should ... Subsequently, an irresponsible coward will grow out of such a person. Pity humiliates."

Figure 4. Family of Nick Vujicic

Nick spoke of his future soulmate in these words: “I understand that I don’t have hands to hold my wife’s hand, but when the time comes, I will be able to hold her heart!”

He turned out to be right: having moved to the USA, Nick met a girl, Kanae Miyahara. In February 2012, they got married, and exactly a year later, the wife gave birth to the eldest son, Kiyoshi James Vuychich.

After 2 years, another son was born, named Deyan Levy, and on December 20, 2017, Kanae gave birth to twins - twin girls Olivia and Ellie. All children are healthy and have no physiological or other abnormalities.

An example worthy of emulation

Figure 5. Nick likes to play golf in his free time.

Nick overcame a colossal number of barriers and obstacles, from relationships with classmates to his own psychological preparation. Today, those whom he calls to his performances are not at all connected with him by any physiological defect. Many listeners are quite healthy people who want to see this unique American (Nick became an American citizen and lives there with his family today) and learn something from his story that can motivate them for personal or other changes.

Regarding how he himself relates to his disability, one can answer with a brief retelling of an excerpt from one of his autobiographical works. It contains lines explaining this essence.

Nick Vuychich accepted his essence of a disabled person, won a psychological victory, and now he is laughing in her face, showing various “tricks” from the stage, which many healthy people cannot repeat. He meets each challenge of fate and new life difficulties with his inherent sense of humor, inspiring with his perseverance and faith all those who are nearby.

Such a desire to overcome obstacles and love for life, manifested in his image, are able to challenge any person, directing him towards the realization of his most cherished desires and goals. Statistics show that it is enough to see and hear his speech once, how the attitude to life will change and there will be a reassessment of life values.
