Good afternoon everyone! Yesterday I decided to show sewn handbags for girls and received an offer from mothers to make a master class. Some moments in the process of work can be missed, something can be changed in the sequence of operations. I chose the best option for myself, you will customize them for yourself, as you prefer.
We select everything you need. A small omission - there is no adhesive fabric in the photo. Here I have an adhesive on a knitted basis.
Pattern with dimensions. As you can see, nothing complicated.
Ready to glue the fabric. I put the pattern in order to draw your attention to the fact that when cutting out the adhesive, I made adhesive allowances along the side seams, and did not make an adhesive allowance on the upper cuts. We do exactly the same for the front side of the handbag, and for the lining.
Cut out the adhesive for the valves. It is also exactly the same for the front part and for the lining.
When gluing, I immediately fold and iron the upper edges of the bag. You can not do this and bend it when connecting the front and lining parts of the bag, but it’s more convenient for me - it turns out more accurately, nothing moves out anywhere.
We connect both parts of the valve face inward, we fix the valve template.
We sew on three sides of the valve, there is no need to sew the top.
Where stitched, cut off excess fabric.
We turn it inside out, iron it, stitch along the edge, sew on the hard part of the Velcro.
We sew on an ornament that closes the line on the front side of the valve. I decided to make a pocket. First, we do everything as we did for the handbag valve: we cut out two parts according to the valve template, glued them, aligned them with the front sides inward, stitched them, leaving the upper, straight part of the part unsewn. Then it goes in a different way: we turn it inside out, tuck the unsewn part of the part inside and flash it. In the picture above - the flap of the clasp, below - a pocket.
Sew the pocket to the front side of the lining.
We sew the side seams of the parts of the handbag. Attention: the ironed hem of the parts must be bent.
We smooth the seams, correcting the hem. Don't take this as nonsense detailed description. Some intermediate steps can be skipped. But for those who are not confident in their skills, they will sew according to this, one might say, cheat sheet and avoid annoying mistakes.
Getting ready to stitch the corners. We pin it with a pin so that nothing shifts and draw a straight line along which the seam will pass. Its length is 6 cm.
We cut off the corners. In the photo, I left one corner uncut to show what should happen when stitching the corners. You can not cut them, it's up to you.
We turn the front of the bag inside out with a pattern, insert the lining part into it, equalize the upper edge and pin it with pins. Why are we doing this? So that later you can scribble without worrying that somewhere something has slipped and become uneven, sloppy. Showing each side.
The front part of the handbag: connecting the front part with the lining, we place the pins closer to the top of the handbag, they will not interfere with us there.
Side part - we place the pins at some distance to the right and left of the side seam, so that in the future they do not interfere with us when we place the handbag handle in place.
The back of the bag - we place the pins lower than on the front wall of the bag so that you can insert the fastener valve.
Here's what we got.
Handbag handle. This time I cut out the handle from the fabric, like the lining of the handbag, and sewed a rep ribbon on top. She closed the seam on the handle. I stitched around the perimeter of the part.
We find the middle of the back wall of the handbag and the middle of the valve. We insert the valve between the front and back parts of the handbag, combining the marks, fix it with pins.
We determine the handle of the handbag in place, we also fix it.
Sew the top edge of the bag. Sew on the front wall of the soft part of the Velcro.

If you don’t feel like extra fuss, take a beautiful braid in the form of a pigtail or a bright lace - anyway, the children do not carry anything heavy in their bags, so it will definitely withstand the load.
At the last stage, we sew the two resulting parts of the bunny bag together and attach the handle to it.
Take a marker and draw a muzzle on the resulting accessory. If you do not have a marker that will not wash off when washed, you can sew on ready-made images of the eyes or embroider the outlines with floss threads.

The bottom can be knitted very quickly with a thick cord. I would still knit the lower part of the darker shape, otherwise there will be a washing problem very soon.

There is no need to worry about whether the sewing machine will sew the leather part - we will make small holes with a special punch tool and everything can be fixed. I think that the lining for such a handbag is still worth doing, especially if the knitting is large.

I would like to briefly dwell on one more point. If you don't like to bother with complex tailoring of a bag according to a special pattern, or you already have a fabric bag (small!) that you would like to change, then there is a way out too.
