Decoupage pictures with napkins

This technique can work in two ways. First- attach the top layer of the napkin to the prepared canvas and cover it with a mixture of glue and water. This method requires precision and is not suitable for beginners. Therefore, it is better to act on a simplified technique.

Preparation

Before starting work, you need to prepare the frame, or rather artificially age it. You can make decoupage with your own hands from a photo frame or order a base in any workshop. It is necessary to cover the surface of the frame with acrylic paint, wait until it dries and apply craquelure varnish. After it is absorbed, a gold-colored paint should be applied.

Building the Foundation

Next stage - creating a canvas from a light fabric. In the finished product, the napkin will be transparent, and on a dark background, the image may be muted. The material should be cut in the shape of a frame, that is, attach plastic glass and with a margin of one centimeter on each side, cut the fabric. The resulting rectangle should be glued to the glass. In this case, the glue should be applied to the fabric and to the plastic. The canvas should be coated with several coats of acrylic primer and allowed to dry.

Important! Before starting work, any surface other than wood must be cleaned with your own hands, that is, wiped with acetone, alcohol or dishwashing detergent.

Transferring a picture

First you need to attach a napkin to the fabric and cut out the picture along the contours of the frame. Then the cut out image should be placed face down on the file and glue diluted with water should be applied to it with a flat brush. When wet, the napkin will begin to stretch. That's why brush movements should be from the center of the picture to the edges. It is very important at this stage to straighten the picture from the “wrinkles” with your own hands. Only after that you can attach the image file to the canvas and carefully remove the transparent film.

The edges of the napkin should be well saturated with glue. In this decoupage technique, the hanging ends of the napkin from the edges of the canvas are inevitable. Only wet, well-soaked ends can be cut off, otherwise the picture may be damaged.

When the glue dries, you should tint individual elements of the image or the entire picture with acrylic paints. Final stage - cover the canvas with decoupage varnish and insert the canvas with the image into the frame.

Decoupage pictures from postcards

With this technique, you can create three-dimensional picture by hand in just a few minutes.

This will require:

• manicure and paper scissors;
• white double-sided tape;
• thick cardboard for the base.

For example, let's take two identical postcards depicting urban architecture. On the first one, you need to cut out the sky along the contour, and on the second - at home. Each of the cut out parts is a separate layer of the picture. The closer it is, the smaller the details should be. In this case, these are flower pots.

The ends of all cut parts should be made dark with a felt-tip pen.

Tape strips should be attached to the base of thick cardboard. On the reverse side of each cut out part, you should also stick a square of adhesive tape.

Decoupage cards from napkins

A homemade postcard can become great present for relatives and friends. It is made in just a few minutes with your own hands using the decoupage technique using glue, cardboard, napkins and scissors.

Cardboard is better to choose dense and colored. On the finished product, the napkin will be transparent. So that later you do not have to finish the picture with paints, it is better to use a colored base.

In this example, consider a more complex decoupage technique, that is, applying glue directly to a napkin. Since the canvas is not large in size, even beginners can cope with this task.

At the first stage, you need to separate the top layer of the napkin and cut out the pattern of the desired size. Next, you need to gently smear a piece of napkin on the front side with glue so that it sticks tightly to the cardboard. After the drawing dries, you can draw the outline of the image acrylic paint contrasting color.

The materials we need:

1. The base is fiberboard of the appropriate size. My size is 25x35 cm.

2. Sketch. You can pre-draw on paper, and then transfer to fiberboard, you can use the finished picture, and I immediately sketched a drawing on fiberboard with a pencil.

3. Napkins. We select the colors that you may need to reproduce the picture. In the works, you can use not only napkins, but also toilet paper different colors, paper towels. The quality of materials may vary in thickness and density of the structure.

4. Scissors for cutting napkins into flagella.

5. Water in a glass to moisten the wipes.

6. Kitchen towel, for rolling flagella (napkin threads).

7. PVA glue, glue brush, knitting needle (you can replace the knitting needle with a skewer, or help lay the napkin threads with scissors, but it’s convenient for me to work with a knitting needle).

Napkins are cut into strips. If the napkin consists of three layers, then I cut off a strip 7-8 mm wide by eye, if the napkin is the most common single-layer, then I fold it in half (in two layers) and cut it into strips about a centimeter.

I dip the strips into water and roll them out on a kitchen towel, so excess water is absorbed into the towel, and the flagella become thinner and neater than if rolled out in the palms of my hands.

To the picture being created looked beautiful, try to make flagella of approximately the same thickness.I lay out the napkin flagella on a towel according to the colors.

The process of creating a painting.

I cover the fiberboard with one layer of PVA glue so that the napkins stick better. First, glue the outline of the picture. We add glue where necessary with a brush and with the help of hands and a knitting needle (it is convenient for me to guide and press the flagella of napkins with a thin knitting needle) we lay the contour. Napkins are glued when wet, so they are elastic and can be laid out in any shape.

If your blanks are dry, it’s not scary - once again dip the flagella in water and roll it with your palm on a towel. Let the contour dry.

In my work, you can see that I chose a white outline for the petals, and dark green for the leaves. The bee is still drawn in pencil. In the process, I redrew it.

After that, you can proceed to the process itself: select desired color napkins, smear the surface with glue, lay the flagellum, tightly tamp it to the contour with a knitting needle, tear off or cut off an extra piece with scissors. In no case do not throw away all the small pieces, everything will go to work.

The last photo in the row shows that the stamens are glued on top of finished flower, and here the remnants of napkins are used, from which balls for stamens and the stamens themselves are formed.

Work on mistakes.

How to do it:

Step 1. First we need to make a "skeleton" of a ballerina out of wire. To do this, divide your wire into two unequal parts: the long wire should be 90 cm long, the short one about 40 cm. You can make a ballerina of a different size, but keep in mind that her dress will be made from a napkin, which means a “skeleton” shouldn't be too big. In this master class, the size of the "skeleton" is designed for a dress made of a napkin 30 × 30 cm.

Step 2. Fold the long wire in half, twist it a little, and then form a small loop (see photo below). This will be the head. Move the two ends of the wire apart to make legs, then make a loop on each leg.

Step 3. To make hands, fold a short wire in half, twist it, forming loops at the ends. Then wrap and tie the ballerina's torso just below the neck with the resulting workpiece. As a result, each arm will be 7-8 cm long, and the "skeleton" will look something like in the photo.

Step 4. Now let's deal with the "muscles". Cut or simply tear the napkins into narrow strips and start wrapping the “skeleton” with them, simultaneously lubricating the layers of paper with PVA glue with a brush. When the figurine is ready, leave it to dry.

Step 5. While our ballerina dries, you can make her a dress. Take a napkin folded into a square (that is, in its original form), fold it into a triangle, then bend the top of the triangle to the fold line and cut the workpiece along the curve as shown in the photo below.

Having straightened the napkin, you will see that it is cut out in the form of a quadrant (a quarter of a circle). Lay the quadrant on top of a stack of 2-3 napkins and cut out the pieces for the dress.

Step 6 Twist each blank so that the dress is soft and textured. If desired, at this stage, napkins can be dyed.

Step 7. Take 2-3 blanks for the dress, fold them as shown in the photo and cut off their ends at once (just a little bit!).

Step 8. Now put the dress on the ballerina through the resulting hole, pull it up to the very shoulders, then sew the back and front of it together. Hooray, almost done! It remains only to pull the waist with a thread / ribbon and tie / glue a loop to it (for example, to the back or arms raised up).

By experimenting with the color, length and style of the dress, as well as the position of the arms and legs, you can create a whole collection of dissimilar dolls.

Master class 2. Volumetric balls from openwork napkins

• 4 napkins of the same color;
