A tea house with do-it-yourself quilling decorations. DIY quilling jewelry

Do you love quilling as much as I do? Sometimes there is no creative inspiration and I just cut strips. Then That's when the problem of their storage arises. I am not alone in this: I was convinced by reading Olga Mozharova (January 18 “Box for strips”). "Got" the MaryBond link. Girls, and the problem is something of an interstate scale! At first, I put the strips in candy boxes and umbrella packaging. Then, like Inna, she began to pull bunches of strips of the same color with a 10mm strip and also put them in boxes. This is convenient enough for individual work, but when you work with a group of children, by the end of the lesson, the box is complete chaos. While you are correcting the work of some, others are independently gaining strips for their work. By the end of the lesson, the "tails" of the strips stick out in all directions from the box. For myself, I solved this problem.
Probably, I, like many “addicted” to quilling, translate the world to the quilling dimension. The idea of how to store the strips, it may sound strange, came to me in the hospital during the procedures. Ampoules for injections are stored in boxes and isolated from each other so as not to break. Why not apply this method to stripes as well? The goal is quite different...
If someone has something like that, then this is another proof that thought is material.

I photographed this box in the summer. The photo is not entirely successful - there was no experience in shooting, but the principle of operation is quite clear.
In the paper-plastic technique, we will make a kind of distributor for strips.
For work you will need:
- a candy box, the inner length of the box is not less than the length of an A4 sheet (often the inner length of the box is shorter than the outer one due to the sides);
- 1-2 sheets of A3 cardboard;
- ruler;
- pencil;
- awl (can be replaced with a knitting needle);
- Double-sided tape;
- scissors or cutter

Let's assume that the width of the cell will be 3 cm, and the height of the side 1.5 cm.
On the front side of the cardboard along the long side, we make markings every 3 cm: 3, 6, 9, 12, etc. We mark the opposite side in the same way.

With an awl we draw lines along the marking points. I still have 1cm left, you can cut it off, but I left it.

We turn over the sheet. Be careful: we start marking on the back of the sheet from the same edge as the front side, because. if there was a residue on the sheet on the front side, the lines will be shifted in height for the sides of the cells. We make the markup as follows: 4.5 cm (3 cm cell bottom + 1.5 cm side part), then every 6 cm (1.5 cm side part + 3 cm cell bottom + 1.5 cm side part).

We draw lines with an awl along the marking points.

With the paper-plastic technique, I am on you, so maybe there is some secret in folding the sheet with an “accordion”. I do this: turning the sheet over, I bend it in accordance with the lines drawn.

In the process of folding, I correct the fold lines at the sides of the cell.

It turns out here is such a preparation. "Accordion" is moving to the sides ...

...to solve this problem, you will need double-sided tape. We forward the tape from the inside of the "accordion" in three strips: along the edges and in the middle. Even if the adhesive tape lay unevenly - it does not matter. The result will not get worse. It is difficult to cut off the adhesive tape with scissors, the adhesive surface sticks to the blades, in this case it is more convenient to use the cutter. It is very difficult to work with scissors after adhesive tape, I clean the blades with a cotton swab moistened with nail polish remover.

We glue the "accordion" to the bottom of the box, focusing on one of the sides. If there were not enough cells for the entire width of the box, we measure the remaining space, make calculations, and measure it on the second sheet of cardboard. I have 7 cm from the side of the cell to the edge of the box - this is almost two cells (it will turn out a little wider). On the front side of the cardboard I measure 3 cm (bottom of the first cell) + 3 cm (sides) + 3 cm (bottom of the second cell). I cut off the excess. In this case, on the reverse side of the cardboard cases, the mark is only 4.5 cm. We fold the "accordion" and further according to the plan.

My daughter asked me to fold the iris, this is how it looks. The box can be decorated to your liking6 pasted over with paper in accordance with the interior or with self-adhesive film. There are many options. A cell of this size includes strips of 6 sheets. It can also come in from 7, but I cut two sheets at a time. slicing more sheets at the same time leads to deformation of the edge of the strips, which adversely affects appearance works (from my own experience).
In the process of processing and preparing the material, this thought came to me ... This was the first time I made a dispenser in a box of this length and followed the beaten path. I didn't really like the result: too much space left around the edges. What do you think, what if you glue the "accordion" focusing not only on the side of the box, but also on the end? That is, move it to one side. Then, in the freed space, it will be possible to make transverse cells and store trimmings or elements there. Please share your opinion.

What is it?

Interesting! The name comes from the English quill, which means "bird feather". If you choose a Russian analogue, you can call this technique paper rolling or more elegantly - the art of paper filigree.

The essence of quilling is to create flat or voluminous paintings and crafts using twisted in a special way thick paper strips. Lines and hanks are organically intertwined, creating the outlines of flowers and animals, drawing landscapes and portraits.

They do quilling, relying on their own imagination or on quilling patterns. Previously, a pen was used to twist the ribbons, which was reflected in the name of the art. Now needles and toothpicks are used for these purposes, and the choice of paper has become much wider. And the most important advantage of this art lies in the fact that it is available to almost everyone - the main thing is to understand its basics.

A bit of history

Information! If the East is considered the birthplace of origami, then the situation with quilling is more complicated. A number of sources date the origin of this type of needlework to the 1st-2nd century. The choice of time is not accidental - in 105, paper was invented in China.

According to another version, Catholic nuns were the first to engage in paper rolling in the 14th-15th centuries. The creation of do-it-yourself medallions and postcards from quilling attracted secular ladies. Commoners could not afford paper for a long time, so this technique was the prerogative of wealthy citizens. Paper rolling has taken a particularly significant place among the applied arts of Korea.

Whatever it was, but the quilling technique was enriched by traditions different countries and times. And unlike the first products made in it, it has come down to us intact.

Product types

Of course, the differences between Western and Eastern quilling crafts are as noticeable as the difference in the mentality of people from different countries. Thus, European samples are simple, clear, and do not require a long time to be performed. In the East, masters painstakingly work on each curl and create massive, often voluminous paintings, figurines and jewelry.

Idea! Depending on the preferences of the person to whom you want to present quilling for a birthday or other occasion, you can choose the style of execution. If the recipient is fond of Japanese culture, voluminous and, consisting of many intricate details, sakura will be just to his liking. Lover modern you can please with a concise and uncomplicated, but at the same time thoughtful postcard.

  4. Scissors. Sharp and thin will work best.

  • We pass the tip paper tape into the eye of the paper twisting tool and turn it so as to start winding the spiral.
  • The density of wrapping is adjustable with a finger.
